especially for the past  two months JI and Photos.com sales became more than my StockXpert sales in numbers so my overall income from StockXpert is in declining trend:(

if you like you are welcome to use mine too.oh well it's just a camera though.

nowadays I too  experience a significant decline of DLs at SS I don't know why it would be though  despite the fact that I have been uploading as usual-if not more-
It could be because of the current economical situations but I believe increasing competition among the contributes must have something to do with it too and I also believe on demand sales some kind of  affects  on subs sales at SS

« on: January 15, 2009, 19:09 »
you might have already noticed this statement on your  StockXpert  profile page:
quoted from StockXpert :
ALERT! SYSTEM UPDATE ON JANUARY 22ND

We'll be upgrading our site on Thursday, Jan. 22nd beginning at 9:00 PM EST. Images will not be available for download for a few hours. We hope this advance notice will help you plan your projects accordingly.

I wonder if there is going to be a major change and if this is related to getty takeover?

Canon / Canon solves " black dot " issue on 5d mark ii
« on: January 09, 2009, 11:37 »
those who already own the camera should know this by now but Canon has released updated firmware for canon 5d mark ii to fix the black dot issue and banding problem. according to what I read , those who updated firmware to the latest version are happy with the result. new firmware can be downloaded here
http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eos5dmk2/firmware.html
I haven't got the camera yet so I couldn't try myself:(

eta:oh well ,there are also some people who are not happy with the solution and they think canon brought white dots instead of the black one with the firmware upgrade and they believe it was the hardware causing the problem not the software  I don't know???????????????????

simple answer to your question if money isn't issue I'd get the 580 as it is more powerful than the 430.
I am planing to buy either of the flashes but I am on a bit tight budged so I'd probably get the   430 but once again my first choice would be 580 and I personally wouldn't choose anything else but there are also some sigma flashes that get good reviews like sigma 530 dg etc. but if you are looking for a non TTL flash there are a lot more choices but like I said I'd personally stick with canon

good luck with your choice

Newbie Discussion / Re: Gimp - who knows that one?
« on: January 07, 2009, 05:46 »
considering that it is a shareware it is a very hand software but obviously the features and quality they offer nowhere near photoshop and their user interface drives me mad,I mean disappearing windows, lack of brushes  etc. I hope they will improve it so I'd be happy to use it.but for the time being for those on a tight budget I think even  PS elements would  do a better job.but then again GIMP offer a lot for a freeware.

Hi Moshun,
thank you very much  for your response. For the moment I am  an exclusive videographer to IS so I can't upload my work elsewhere as RF unless I give up exclusivity there. So,for the time being I will focus on my RF work then.
Thanks a lot.

« on: December 19, 2008, 16:25 »
hi AVAVA,
thank you very much for your input.
I am an exclusive videographer to IS and that exclusivity is limited to RF (royalty free)license so I was wondering if there was mid range (like micro stock) agencies that accepts-sells  video footage as RM (rights managed/licensed )I am hoping to upload editorial footage to such sites. as for the video camera I am planing to use 5d m2 which should offer the quality required (it is not known yet but there is a possibility even getty and corbis could accept the videos created with 5d m2)but for me it too early too apply with them so that is the reason why I am seeking a mid stock/micro stock footage agencies.

once again thank you very much  for your response.

I use mpeg clip stream for final conversation and it works fine  it is freeware

what about a mid solution? getting two flash heads and two small strobes for background isolation, which is what I do,and works fine for me.

Ac-foto (germany) have them in stock (I just looked). So you can order it from there ;).
thank you for the heads up! Nice to know they have it in stock but the price is a little bit high to my expectations. I guess I'll wait for a UK retailer to have it in stock with a lower  price tag.hopefully it will be mid june or early feb .

overall it is going to be really bad month for me  and very likely to be the worst month of the year and since the holidays are about to arrive we can't expect much from the last two weeks(at least I don't)I hope things will be better from the second week of january...

Dreamstime.com / Re: parents can't be witness?
« on: December 18, 2008, 10:39 »
You can't witness your own signature. Technically you need three people to sign the release. Photographer, model (or guardian) and witness. Some sites will let you be the photographer and the guardian of a minor but the witness must always be a different person.
thank you azurelaroux  for your response and suggestions.I appreciate it.may be my first post wasn't so clear as English is not my mother tongue  to be more precise yes the MR into question was signed by three persons, the photographer, one of the parents   and the other parent as the witness and the rejection reason I was given was that the parents can't be the witness.

but the point I am actually try to make here is that there is not much use dealing with so much paper work here like you mentioned above it is the photographer who should be worried about having a valid MR. this kind of rejections only cause delay of approval process (and it affected  my approval rate negatively which has certain impact on DT search engine)I can re-upload the files with a new MR but that is not the point here I just don't want to get ambiguous rejections because of  model releases.
I sometimes get MR rejections from IS because the MR contains typed-in information (e.g. names, addresses, dates).

,ironically once I had a file rejected because the  MR was hand written and they didn't find it formal enough.....

And just because the last names are different does not mean they both are'nt the parents ... ;D
true, but what is wrong with it even if they both were  parents.
