Just uploaded a photo and realized uploading is even more time consuming now with to many options in  disambiguation  for insatance if you included the word hat among youe KW'd then you'll see soo many different type of hats in the list to choose from .that hurt my eyes:((((((((

...... but it is a bit too much like the new BigStock and 123rf for me.

that's was I thought too. Admittedly I liked the older design better but I don't mind the new one as long as sales keep coming in:)

if I agree with the terms does that mean they will retain the copyright even if I remove my images from the site. and what if I don't agree with the new TOS would I still be able to get my money which I requested a month ago. (the site won't allow you to sign in without agreeing with the terms) to be honest I don't want to carry on with  crestock  and I am surprised why would anyone wanted to buy it in the first place. I uploaded there long time ago and stopped shortly after that

lately I noticed an increase in my sales there but we are not  talking about a great improvement here.  however it has taken BS's place for me as BS (somehow)  became a really poor performer for me:((

I mean you should be able to replace a model release until the actual file (photo etc)gets reviewed . many other sites offer that  I don't see  why IS couldn't do it ? As long as you attach the release to the same file they could be reviewed at the same time  and  I don't think it would necessary  change anything in the review procedure .

You can replace the release prior to inspection.  Use this link: www.istockphoto.com/file_modelrelease_upload.php?id=##### (replace with id)

(quoted text)Once an image is grabbed by inspectors, it's "locked for editing", so you can't edit keywords either at that stage. I have no models, so I don't know at which stage you can or can't change releases. But really, what you describe is nothing different to for instance missing a tiny logo in a series, and not being able to change and resubmit subsequent images while they're in the queue, you'd have to remove them from the queue and start again - I can't remember for sure if that affects your upload limit, but I don't think so. I guess it's to teach us to get it right before uploading.(quoted text)

you were faster than me:) just after I hit to post button your last post arrived. once again thanks for your opinion but I don't agree because  repacling a model release and the acutual file is a  different issue ( in fact with StockXpert you could even  replace an uploaded file  before it gets reviewed and it would save you time from doing all keywording and categorizing as well.)

as for upload limits  in some cases it does affect your upload  limits. for instance the series of photos I uploaded were  uploaded 10days ago  and when the first one rejected if I decide to remove the photos I  would loose my limits to replace the files. but if the review  were done within the same week of upload date than it might not affect your upload limits. usually files don't get completely rejected for just MR  you receive the notification then you are given an option to upload a new release but even that causes delay in approval of your files. as your photo has to go back into pending list
ShadySue  I'm guessing that not too far down the line, there's going to have to be a different way of doing the MRs, because it seems to me that at the moment, there's nothing to stop the unscrupulous from adding extra things to the description after the model has signed. And since the main point of the MR is to protect the model, and to protect the photographer from claims by the model, that will have to be tightened up.
thanks for response Sue No offence intended  but I have seen your portfolio on IS which is filled with very  nice colourful  nature and wild life images   and hardly involving model shots I imagine you couldn't have had  many rejections  for model release issues . But  you can imagine how frustrating it could be --especially after going trough all the  uploading process. --- and  get a photo rejected because of such issues  based on paper work. (I know how important that is so that's why I started the thread to figure out best ways to fill those paper in.)

Thank you all for useful information and tips.

One think I'd like  IS  to implement is that I'd like to have a model release  replacement option until the files get reviewed. because once you attach a release to a file that is in pending queue it gets locked and there is no way to change it    I had uploaded a whole series of photos with the same release and  after getting the first one rejected I  either had  to wait until the rest is rejected  or had   to remove and re upload the files, which is just waste of time and upload limits (sometimes) as well
That's not going to happen, as it's important that the actual MR is reviewed at the same time as the photo.

last few I've done was 'studio isolations on white and black', I did get 2 out of about 50 images rejected for not enough description though

Thank you Phil for your reply, yes it happens to me too some of the files  that has exactly same description go through while  some get rejected   and this makes me think that  there must some particular reviewer(s) who are   stricter on model release issues than others.

Lately I have been getting a lot of rejections from IS for the shoot description on model release not being good (or descriptive )enough .I am quite puzzled. What do you guy write in this section. I usually include the terms like stock photo session xx(number)  but they kept rejection these. As far as understood they want me to include exactly which photos are model released so probably they want me to include detailed info on every single shoot I do of the model. but what they are missing out is  that on the MR I am using it already indicates that all the photos  of the model taken on that date are released. do you have any tip on make the long story short a brief way to describe. because I usually do variety of subject at one session and including them one by one as part of the description is quite t time consuming and boring.

thanks for your input in advance

BS never been a great earner for me but I used to have steady numbers  there but now it all  reached to bottom level. I personally blame the search as it seems to be favouring most downloaded file among my portfolio which is why -I believe- my new files don't get any sales at all .Shame, after closure of StockXpert I'd like them to be a better performer  but see have no hope unless something changes there.
but  this is just my experience and it is still good to hear some having success with them

payments had been pretty prompt for me  in the past  but for the recent months   they got really slow ,I wish they'd announced their payment  schedule  so  we could  at least know when to expect the payment and there wouldn't be need to contact support neither would there be  so many complaints.

I like the new design I think it looks much better than the old one with all those ugly colors . Now I hope they will also change their bast match too as I can hardly sell my new files ,which is so frustrating. also  getting rid of the 3month thing would be also nice  and of course this goes for  DT's 6month commitment as well.

Canon / Re: 5d mark ii new firmware update 2.0.3

no words on 60fps though
I am afraid it can't make it at full HD (not enough processing power, not enough CF throughput). But they could have made it for small resolution...
yes, I agree but it'd be nice to have it at least in 720p

« on: February 25, 2010, 04:24 »
Quite the opposite for me as my sales decreased  by 50% for the several  months.I suspect the reason for that could be that their search seems to favour my older files  which are not as good as my latest ones,it's so frustrating >:(,I am not sure if I'll keep uploading.

I know it is not the perfect time  of year to judge but lately I only sale really old files of mine.I was wondering if they changed the best match algorithm somehow?  Any ideas?it that's so I am quite disappointed as I notice a certain decrease in sales but then again may be I should wait and see what will happen after holiday season

Thanks for your input in advance

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Santa, new year is it irrelevant?
« on: December 16, 2009, 20:35 »
So however you turn it, Santa Claus or Christmas in general can not be connected to New Year's.

Just my personal opinion, of course.

No offence intended I can understand  if you look from a Christian point of view Santa is no way related to new year but   as a matter of fact ,like I said before, it is (may be even  falsely) but still perceived as symbol of new year in some countries like in Turkey and suppose in many others as well. advertisers use  Santa as the symbol  for advertising new year's events . in such places not many people even know what and when Xmas is. Actual background could be different and  I appreciate that but I was talking about actual  facts and how it is perceived in some countries who doesn't traditionally celebrate Christmas.so I don't think ,including this keyword should be considered as keyword spamming .  not surprising  if you search for Santa+ new year SS returns with 16,698 results    DT  12574  StockXpert 9663    FT  8600 results  I think this numbers prove people are clearly relating it to new year.

« on: December 16, 2009, 17:39 »
lately I included the keyword "New year "  for some of my father xmas files .IS reviewers  found these irrelevant and removed  the kws. I wonder if they realise that Santa Claus is the  symbol of new year  for  many non-Christian countries?

it sounds  like a good attempt to reach more buyers but it doesn't seem to be fully functioning yet. I tried  search the  in Turkish  but  many  simple keywords returned  with no results except for really popular subjects like business etc. I don't know may be it's too early to judge nut they surely have more work to do .
