Lighting / Re: Modifying construction lights - will it burn?« on: March 12, 2007, 09:11 »
I wouldn't tape them on the lights directly they do indeed get very hot.once I had an attempt to use it with my home made light tent with some bed sheet and the fabric started to burn in no time I might have placed them too close to it . of course resistance of the fabric against fire is important ,mine were obviously not so resistant but if you place them so close to the sorc of light they will evetually cath fire sooner or later.I use 3 of them now-for still life shots- what I do is I reflect the light from sheets from a safe distance and set up everything compsotion etc first (except for exposure)then turn the lights on adjust exposure shoot and turn them off.this will make it safer and saves energy.
oh well until I got proper flashes I will keep doing what I am doing and hoping not to burn the house down:) 856

I love fotolia,a great place to sale your photos,
well feb was ok for me despite little decrease in my earnings and march has not been great so far but I think (for me) things will go back to normal soon. it is where I sell the most EL,which makes it one of my favs among the sites. 858
StockXpert.com / Re: Why the StockXpert rejection policy sucks, a designer's point of view« on: March 06, 2007, 18:55 »
Rejection reasons on StockXpert has been criticised so much, may be they should simply rephrase the reasons(the way how tell you the reason of rejection)because concerns expressed here seems to be more about how files are rejected rather than why.
Considering all the efforts they are making(especially Peter-thank you for all you have done) may be with minor changes(like suggested above) these criticisms could be avoided.but this still won't mean there will be no more complaints over rejections(like it happens any other micro site)but I assume this is something different. 859

thank you very much CJPhoto
in this case it all seems normal. like I said it's not my first payout from SS but it's first I am going to receive by paypal, which is why I was so curious, but now it all seem fine thank you 860
Shutterstock.com / Re: feb payouts by paypal« on: March 03, 2007, 18:16 »
Thank you Sim for your input. I see your point but this is quoted from SS :
'Checks - Will go out on 3/15/07 Paypal - Will go out by 3/7/07 Moneybookers - Will go out by 3/7/07' may be that's why I am a bit confused.yes you are right I did receive the confirmation email indicating I was above the payout limit. I mean I don2t mind if I receive it on 15th but just wanted to make sure it not only me who is awaiting:) 861
Shutterstock.com / feb payouts by paypal« on: March 03, 2007, 16:19 »
I used to use moneybookers for SS payouts but this month I switched it to paypal.altough I am inform by e-mail that the payment was going to be made through PP bye the3rd of march I have not received it yet.I know I may be a bit too early to raise the question(this is why I am writing here rather then contacting SS:) but I don't really know how long it'd take to receive payment by PP from SS.'cause it worked on the same day with moneybookers and with IS it was as quick with paypal.
has any of using paypal got your feb payment from SS ? thank you for your response in advance 862

I am also a non-exclusive contributer to istock and I share most of concerns mentioned here like uploading limits. but I am still happy with istockphoto despite all.
yes sometimes I do get rejections which I don't agree with. for instance once one of my image was rejected for including the word 'coke' among my keywords and once I got my image rejected because the title included illegal character(I had accidentally hit the wrong button:( but what I like about istock is that they really push you through creating high quality images otherwise you know they'd be rejected.also I am often happy with the detailed feedbacks from the approval team, which you don't often get from others. anyway to me it's one of the most prestigious microstok sites and a good place to sell images nonetheless I still do wish commissions were higher:) 863
Cameras / Lenses / RAYNOX DCR-250 MACRO« on: March 02, 2007, 18:54 »
I was just checking RAYNOX DCR-250 MACRO lens adaptors and now curious if there is any of you have experience with them. what I actually like to know if they are compatible with DSLR lenses. because all the sample images I found on flickr were taken with some sort of P&S and DSLRlike cameras.
I read a review somewhere saying somebody was having problem with focusing when using it with canon ef F1.8 lens? considering their reasonable price it might be worth giving it a go what do you think? oh BTW I assume you can't autofocus with them can you? 864
Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock Sales« on: February 28, 2007, 20:50 »
I have a fairly small galley on BigStock (with just about 150photos)it took me several months to reach my first payout(30quid).after slow sales I stopped uploading I am not sure if I should keep uploading and see what happens with a larger gallery.what puts me of is that you are not allowed to remove your photos for three month.what if you sell an image with exclusive licence on another site ?(altough chances are very slim)you'd have to go through a complex processto remove it from BigStock.
I understand their policy on image removal but I think this is still discouraging,at least for me . 865
StockXpert.com / Re: How is StockXpert doing for you?« on: February 24, 2007, 18:48 »
especialy for the past two weeks there is a certain decrease in my sales on StockXpert.I assume it may be because of new default searching setting resulted in more exposure of populer images thus more sales for them and less for new images.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Sigma or Canon lens kit?« on: February 24, 2007, 15:19 »
Thank you all guys!I appreciate your efforts.
Now it seem I'd better start saving up for a decent lens like the famous 17-40 in the mean time I have to make my kit lenes work more and more in order to get rid of them soon... thanks again 867
Cameras / Lenses / Sigma or Canon lens kit?« on: February 24, 2007, 09:27 »
I got a Sigma 18-50 lens kit for my Canon 350D but I am thinking of changing it for a Canon 18-55 lens kit.I assume there won't be a huge difference in terms of qualtiy I could obtain.but unfortunatey it's not within my budget to go upper level glasses for the moment.
what do you think guys is it worth changing it? which one do you think is better? would the lens hood that came with the sigma lens fit the canon? thank you very much in advance. 868
