Thanks a lot, indeed. Just learned another lesson... but too late, because I am going to deactivate the file on D-Day  :D ... amongst others.

... when my images get no search results.

I have no big portfolio at iStock, but still had my regular sales. After 3 weeks with only one sale I started wondering if something is wrong. So I made the test.

One of my images (http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-21810232-mature-woman-suffering-from-back-pain.php) had 9 views and 5 sales in the first three weeks after uploading in November. Two months later, nothing has changed. But no wonder, the image doesn't exist anymore, when I type in the relevant keywords "mature woman back pain" or "woman back pain". 32 respectively 82 images, but not mine. Not funny! And not happening at other agencies.

Anyone else with same annoying experiences?

No, I don't have anything against anyone. My comment was rather a reaction to that:

http://www.microstockgroup.com/image-sleuth/biggest-rip-off-in-microstock-history!-shocking-finds/

Two companies in two days from Romania - it's this coincidence I've noticed. Nothing else.

If anyone feels offended by my comment, my apologies.

Romania? Again?! What kind of 'one legged'-company is behind this fraud  >:(

General - Top Sites / Re: How quick from upload to going live?

SS and FT almost immediately, sales often within the first day, DT sometimes a day or two before going live.

This concerted action of microstock contributors can be only the beginning - otherwise it wont change a thing. Because the Getty campaign was just the beginning, too, IMO.

So every single image counts, every single little needle stinging the bum of the agencies is important. I never cared much about IS, because never felt comfy there, so my portfolio is close to nothing - and so my contribution to D-Day are only 20 images, half of the portfolio and the best selling ones. And as soon as I get my payment, I delete the rest.

But whenever there is a plan to make another statement somewhere else, I am in again - with my full support and some hundred images. Because doing nothing and keep my mouth shut is like accepting the immorality and the greed of those companies with their own personal legislation. And even if I cant change it - now - I feel better to do something to stop anarchic acting companies, to give other people a good example and a motivation to stand up for their rights - anywhere and anytime.

So, where are we now? I lost track. Just add another 20 images and another fellow on your side.

DP doesn't work for me at all. Sales even worse than Canstock or Veer. Yes, acceptance ratio is around 99% and the upload is easy. This is the only reason I contribute to DP so far, because I can't see a financial reason (82DLs with almost 1100 images in 8mths). Maybe it takes it time and sales will kick in one day, but I don't rely on it. I could tell you a different story about 123rf... others can't.

So, here you are: some have positive experiences, some have negative stories to tell - you can ask your question about every single agency - and I bet, you'll get the same kind of answers. Maybe one portfolio works better than the other here and there or not at all, maybe there are other reasons for success. In the end, don't hang up your expectations too high as long as you have just a small portfolio and do it just as a hobby. Do it as long as you have fun. Take the pocket money or leave it (saves you a lot of stress and disappointments). But you have to make your own experiences. You might even get a nice surprise - just be prepared for a harsh reality in MS-business.

Best of luck

I quit my exclusivity with Dreamstime in May 2012, after being with Dt for 15 months. Now I am contributing to all the major players and two smaller newcomers. My DT income is still around the same it used to be. But my overall income is now ten times higher. So, don't wait any longer, especially not with your excellent portfolio. You'll be amazed what's possible, once you've joined SS.

Good luck,

Rob

SS is asking for a photo ID with your residential address, as far as I can recall. I applied with my drivers licence. And it worked. So it shouldn't be a problem for you, too - after you cancelled your Exclusive Status with IS.

With 844 in port I am still waiting for the magic kick in sales. Only 21 this month, mostly subs. But it's easy to upload, so I continue and see what happens.

Thanks for the answers.

I guess, Fotolia has this kind of bug, too. I have several images there with more downloads than views.

But as long as I get the money, I don't care  :)

iStockPhoto.com / Money for nothing?
« on: October 24, 2012, 18:57 »
Hi Folks,

Over the last week or so my account balance is growing, but my number of downloads is still the same (in the overall statistic). Although one new file appears to have a download without a view. I won't complain as long as the money is coming in, but still, I don't understand why.

Anyone with an idea?

Regards

Rob

Sales normal, but still not great. RPD worst since I started two years ago.

What was it you said, Serban??? Yeah, sure....

123RF / Re: 100% or 0% review
« on: October 10, 2012, 04:29 »
But I have to be fair and say, that after contacting 123rf support the whole batch is going to be re-reviewed. They blame it on a new reviewer...

Cheers,

Rob

65 out of 69 accepted today - Wednesday. Last week similar result - Wednesday again. Only one batch in the last months 100% rejected - and yes, it was Monday morning  ;)

Had this experience more or less with all the other agencies. Just today with 123RF. A quick moment of anger and frustration - and then move on. We can't change it anyway... or can we???

Cheers,

Rob

123RF / 100% or 0% review
« on: October 10, 2012, 02:02 »
I don't really understand how that works:

Anytime my uploads are being reviewed almost simultaneously I get 100% acceptance. But I had now two batches (17 and 40 images) pending for some days. Result: 100% rejected. Reason: poor lighting/bad composition....

Images who are already accepted by SS or others. And images who are anything but bad composed or with poor lighting.

So, what do you reckon, are there work overloaded reviewer, ticking the same rejection box all over again? Or are we even talking about a non-human reviewer with random rejections? Nevertheless: things like that just shouldn't happen. For the benefit of contributor AND agency.

Cheers,

Rob

Shutterstock.com / Re: How to avoid weekend acceptance?
« on: October 01, 2012, 00:53 »
I read this kind of threads in this forum before I even applied as a contributor for SS. After being accepted I started my uploads with the lowest expectations - and I didn't care about weekends or weekdays. And now? I have to say, that the reviews with SS are the most reasonable ones amongst all the agencies. I am even delighted to see, that my acceptance ratio is close to 90%, compared to high 60s with DT or worse... FT.

Rob

« on: October 01, 2012, 00:44 »
I guess I have missed the "cycle of sales" at DP. 17 sales in the first three months, with more than 700 images online. Same period with SS more than 700 sales, even DT is working fine for me, with around 150 downloads  since July. Thanks to the simple upload system I am hanging in there and still hope for better times.

« on: August 30, 2012, 03:28 »
I am with SS for seven weeks now - and I am happy with the start.

438 images online, 372 downloads so far, even my first enhanced one last week.

SS is definitely THE agency who keeps me motivated to stick with microstock for a while longer.

Cheers,

Rob
