It is sooo simple:
Somebody on IS needs new yacht.
Oh, and somebody needs new house...
 >:(
I think this is just a start of neverendind story.

Well after reading all of this I decided they are not worthy of supporting in any way

I wonder if anybody ever notice how you are loosing control over your images (your work)?

Where's the limit?

Shutterstock.com / Re: How are sales going?- Shutterstock
« on: February 21, 2014, 14:24 »
With 200 files had 9 sales Wednesday, an EL yesterday, and 3 sales so far today (it's early afternoon in NY) - including one 4 year old file that never sold before, so a slowish month is picking up. Trying to stay optimistic.  8)

With only 200 files ist this very good stats.

231
Just for info:
I emailed them 5 times.
After well known reply and promise about "we will remove..."
THEY STOPPED TO COMMUNICATE.
No more replyies.
Of course, all my files are still online on PP and API... sites

232
CS is good for vectors ONLY.
For photos bljak.

233
First, THNX to our CSI dpt. for reporting this Depositphotos "fraud situation".

Second, I have been in communication with DP since first day of publishing this.
I asked them to remove all my files from ALL partner programs and API re-seller sites...
Three times.

Last reply was on Monday:
Your portfolio will be removed from our partner programs and API re-seller sites as soon as possible.

And yes, all files are today still active on all partner programs and API re-seller sites.

Maybe is this also reason, why is acceptance on DP almost 100 % ?

Again, CC is dead.
Simple as that.

235
Did they also write this sentence in your email vilainecrevette:

If for some reason, you would like to opt out of our partnership programs, just let us know and we will comply with your request. However, please keep in mind, in that case you will be excluded from all our partnership programs and your images will be sold solely on depositphotos.com

?

After I sent my Shotshop OPT OUT request I received this, as well.
Fair play is dead on stock.

Hmm,
what to do ???

Again same old question: Is it better 0,30 $ or nothing?

This subs "stinks like ferret."

« on: February 04, 2014, 07:12 »
They were probably subscriptions. If you go into your profile settings you can opt-out for subscriptions and get only on demand sales. An HD video sale give you around 20 credits, which is more ore less the amount you get on other sites...

Depends on price You set. So, on POND 5 for 80 $ footage is 50 % ...

General Stock Discussion / Re: What is your most selling image?
« on: February 02, 2014, 10:40 »
Interesting idea if we talk in generalities. No one wants to give away their secrets but I suspect that no idea is new in the world of microstock these days. Yes, there are niches but even those are getting harder to define. My bestseller(s) are images I uploaded in 2006, as well as a few unique illustrations that are actually pretty simple. The photos were taken with a Fuji S602 at a US baseball game of the crowds in the stands. They still sell today (160+ downloads, is that a lot?) even with over 65 thousand other similar images in the database when searching for crowds. When I first sold them they were sold as RF, now they are Editorial as rules have tightened. Even though the people in my shots are the size of fly specks someone in charge was worried that there might a recognizable face in the crowd. Reality was that someone copied the shot and was told that it should be submitted as editorial so they complained about mine which were then changed from RF to Editorial. So much for touting best sellers. Yes, they do get copied.

Of my 126 images I have 25 with no downloads, but 13 were added in the past 2 months and the other 12 in the last 6 months so you can see I add when Im bored, after I've taken a trip, when I run across an old image I think might sell or come up with a new illustration (I now work in Illustrator all day at my day job but mainly technical stuff). Yes, I delete my stinkers (defined by me) if they havent sold in 3 years even on the slight chance that one might sell. I guess that you could call me a hobbyist even though Ive done this for a paycheck in the past (product photographer for catalogs, nothing artsy). There are tourist landscape photos in my port as well as flowers and objects and yes, some do sell. I dont shoot people (other than crowds or editorial while traveling).

Yes, Im exclusive to DT. My RPD is consistently around 3 dollars, my downloads per image is around 12. I make from 25 to 75 dollars a month for an average of 50, same for each year Ive been doing this. With those numbers I dont feel like I really belong on MSG because there are those here with more images and with more dedication. I now realize that many have done this for a living but in 2006 when I joined it was just for fun. I didnt know it was an industry that could make one a good sum of money. Hell, I didnt even really know what Royalty Free was although I had purchased Rights Managed for an ad agency I worked at (from slides or transparencies). Today Im also a keymaster so that adds to my microstock income each month (I didnt count that in my totals). Ive always leaned towards the technical side of my profession (graphic design) so that has worked out well. Plus, I was always a good speller.

Im anonymous because of the keymaster thing but if anyone wants to see my port send me a message. The admins at DT probably know Im here but that being said I try and tell it as I see it so Im not worried. But, after being online since Al Gore invented the internet I have no desire at fame or for strangers to know my every move. Im not even on Facebook, or interested. I do know that anyone who wants to track me down can and will. No one is invisible these days.

If You contributed before 8 years as IS exclusive, what do You think would be for fun as well?
I don`t think so.
Ah, good, gold MS times... which I missed.

238
NEVER DELETE.

Unless you care about what your port looks like in the customers eyes.
Like do they drool, or do they think: "Average, there is a lot of sh++t there"

Maybe you shoot sh..t, I do not.
Less is more!

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 sales dried up
« on: January 29, 2014, 08:59 »
Mantis, as You know, POND5 is strong on videos.
I have also some photos in POND 5 portfolio, which I upload more as KEY and representative photo for video, if buyer need it.
I think that photos on POND 5 are not strong sellers.
Last few months also footages are not strong sellers anymore - for me :(

When we ask this sort of questions is fair to explain also, how many files is in portfolio, agree?
So, I have almost 500 files and YES, sales dried end of last year.
POND 5 is neglibigle for me. Sales on SS (same portfolio) are better and better every year.

KB, I am talking about present time, not what was in the past.
I agree with You about support, but it was so months ago.
And now, zero, null, nada...

Clipcanvas is dead!
Not just for me! As I see here, also other contributors have problems with them too.
No sales and what is more said, no payout.
No support as well.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock accepts almost any image now?
« on: January 14, 2014, 14:17 »
No, Istock is not dead. Yet!
Some old contributors with "brand portfolios" and old customers are still doing good business.
I have some friends, all are among first 500 Istockers. They sell and earn less and less, compared to last year or two...
but still, they do great job as exclusives.
On the other side, we, non exclusives, low rated "loosers" (as IS stuff probably name us), are fighting for cents in PP, because our regular sells in MAIN are negligible small.
So, "IS 500 club" works perfect.
FOR NOW !

245
BTW -- I am totally open to any critique  of my shots  8)

Nice shots.
Take the job, use hdr, enjoy.
Your RE friend will need You again and again.
When did You earn with stock 1200$ in two days?

Try to use Greasemonkey.

I got the 6D a month ago. I got it rather than the latest 5D because it had functions that were useful to me (notably GPS) that the 5D didn't have and the places where the 5D had the advantage weren't things I needed. I'm not doing video, though. My impression is that the 5D is targetting the video market and the 6D the stills market. For stills, the 6D is amazing, especially with the incredible high ISO performance it has.
I think it's about looking at the features on each and seeing which suits you best. If it is the more expensive one all you have to do then is work out if the extra functions are worth the price to you. For me, the 5D would probably have been less useful despite costing 50% more (or thereabouts). I used the money I saved to get the 100/2.8L macro lens.

Clever guy  ;)

Sales maybe ?

Done.

Well, you could always stand a bit further back with the 24-70 to get the same perspective as with a 90mm lens and then crop the edges off. It really depends on whether you need all 22 million pixels, or would 15 million be enough?  It may seem odd to use a 5D as a cropping camera but if portraits are just one part of your work and the rest of it needs the 24-70 range then it's a reasonable alternative to having to buy two expensive lenses in order to get portraits which probably have far more MP than you really need.
Yes, of course, it's not a huge issue cropping it down.

I still need to check examples of the f2.8 vs. f4 fully open to get an idea of the DOF.

Financially, the 24-105 would fit much better into my budget... if I can save some extra $$$ I might be able to add the 70-300 L as well. Then I'd be set for a while.

However, if someone (of you stock shooters) told me that the performance of the 24-105 is not comparable to the 24-70 I might rather get the f2.8 as a long term investment.

Apparently the 24-105 is sharp enough to make a lot of people happy. If I can get a hand on it to test it, I'll know for sure.

Not just for us, happy users, but for picky inspectors is OK as well.
