When people come here and start a post that is basically wishing that iStock do badly, and thus wishing that people who rely on iStock income to feed their family and pay their rent and mortgage, also do badly, some people might not look too kindly on those sort of sentiments. If income does decrease at iStock, as you wish, and people who are exclusive there, and quite possibly better and more successful than you at producing images, give up exclusivity, you may well wish for something different when their work floods onto the agencies you use and your sales start to drop.
I couldn't agree more...when are people going to understand this.

If it could be fixed in the couple of days that the thread on IS has been active, why wasn't it fixed before?
If I was being really paranoid I'd say they have been working on it all that time. They got it ready, then started the "new leaf" thread so they could roll out the fixes to seem like they are a response to the thread.
Yeah I tend to agree...it sounds like they probably had the fixes ready to go before RR started the thread. It seemed to happen really quick.

You can certainly start with camera you have...but I'd leave the new lens out of it for the moment and get some artificial lighting whether it be strobes or continuous lighting. You can get good deals on Chinese made lighting on ebay...the build quality is low on these lights but they'll get you started.

Yes you'll get lots of regular sales but mostly subs it seems....but they've done well in a short space of time. An agency of the the future I would think...

I don't want IS to fail - I make good money from them each month. I would like them to fix their busted site, drop the RC system and scrap all the Getty zombie images on the site - with a decent, working site and 20% royalties things might look pretty decent as a #2 earner in the monthly sweepstakes. I couldn't agree more....they need to fix their obvious problems so they can take their place as a regular income source for all of us. After all we all need as many regular and consistent income streams as possible, that's what this industry is about.

Its a culture thing! America is a fast paced culture. Need it now not tomorrow, with a "can do" attitude. Australians are way more relaxed, even a little lazy, and typically prefer the pub, beach or BBQ to an office.
You'll get yourself into trouble with statements like that....

I think its painfully obvious Getty has some grand plan for istock. Regardless of all the anger and speculation we'll just have to be patient to see what is is....shouldn't be too long I would think...

Yes, you're a bit off track. Let me outline it for you. This the best explanation so far....

I nearly joined Stockfresh....glad I didn't now by the looks of things.

The rest: Gone. That's a bit of a sweeping statement...talk about the microstock apocalypse.

123 is the next big chance to show we no longer tolerate cuts, but I am afraid it will all blow over in 2 weeks, just as it all blew over at Alamy. Business as usual and all agencies now know that they can cut all they want, a few will leave but the rest will all take it up the tail pipe. Alas..this unfortunately is the way of micro stock. The biggest problem is that the bulk of microstockers are ordinary people who do this part time and don't seriously care about how much their earnings decrease over time, hence the agencies can do what they want. Its very difficult to change the way an entire industry operates with participants who are non-business part time people...this is what has created the agency monopolies.

Be careful....they have made quite a few mistakes key wording videos for me which I have had to go back and fix.

Say you earn $10,000 per year at microstock this would be not a small expense. How true...I think a lot of people over estimate how much the majority of microstockers make including start up businesses like this one.

The microstock industry will end on Dec 21 along with the rest of the world on the Mayan Doomsday.

The pressure is on PicturEngine here....if anybody takes the free trial and doesn't make at least $40 a month to cover the fee, everybody participating in the trial will leave en masse. That will make it hard for PicturEngine.

We will give you an exclusive copy of what we have already created, namely the Clipcanvas video marketplace, a handsome "start-off" financial funding to get you going, as well as access to what we have learnt about your business in the past 4 years. So what you are saying is that you are after an investor and a business partner? Is that correct.

The one thing that has been constant in micro and every other industry for that matter is 'change'. Our futures in the industry will be about embracing change and taking advantage of new opportunities that will present themselves, and of course as always, there will be people who will fight change....and this will probably mean many people will leave the industry. Its going to be interesting if nothing else.

Its hard to believe that a company like SS has had this inconsistency problem with their reviewing for so long. I don't ever submit more than 10 images at a time...its just too risky to submit more than that in one batch.

That's a nice unrealistic dream list for a video stock site....for me, my perfect video stock site would be one that has consistent sales with a decent commission.

Yes something has seriously changed at iStock....my sales have dropped by half over the last four months with no signs of improvement. Looks like we will have to get used them turning into a middle tier site and look to other agencies for those lost sales.

Things have been slow the last six months with video sales for me....but sales have come back strong in the last five or six weeks. Pond5 and SS the best performers by far.

Yep. Last week 10 out of 10 accepted...this week (and all from the same series as last week) 10 out of 10 rejected. It's really not fair, they need much better consistency.
