MicrostockSubmitter / Some Issues / Bugs? to report
« on: June 14, 2014, 04:42 »
Hi Niakris,

just trying out the program and not 100% sure if I'm doing something wrong.

1. Can't login to Dreamstime. See 2 attached screenshots.
2. No earnings show up for "123rf", "Clipdealer" and "Panthermedia" I checked correct login data twice. See screenshot.
3. "Files -> Backup configuration ..." does not work. The screenshot ist german and says: The task can't access "ss.db3" because it's (the database) usesd by another task.

Thanks

Anybody know the royalties for footage at 123RF?
I can't find it and I don't upload images there because of the low royalties.

I've 3 footage sales at 123rf, 2 x revenue was 1,80$ for 240p each and 1x 8,87$ for Full HD 1080p. What I don't know, if these are subscription or "to go" sales. Even if they are subscription sales, it's much less than the half you get at SS for subscription sales. So I'm thinking about to stop uploading there.

About 150 CGI clips each. At P5 price range is from $20 (old or/and lower quality (SD)) to $60.- (new or/and excellent quality).

Overall revenue (all agencies) per clip / month is about 2-3$. 2008-2010 it was about 5-6$. Since then it drops and drops and ...  ;)
But be aware, I'm talking about 3D CGI, which usually sells better than cam clips, on the other hand needs much more effort to produce.

@poncke
I was talking about CGI, where you get seperated frames after rendering and can give this quality to your customer. It makes no sense to convert h.264 to photoJPG, quality won't get better. But microstock customers have to live with h.264 cam footage, due to the low prices. Not many semipro cams have a DVI out.

I suggest Motionelements too. In 2012 I had the same earnings as at IS (about 7.5% each of overall Stock income). This year they even overhauled IS a little, but income varies much from month to month.

They are very contributer friendly and just had a contributer poll to even raise this. (things I absolutely can't say from IS)

Even if they accept h.264, as a buyer I would never buy them. I'm producing CGI footage and always upload as photoJPG.
I'm also working as a freelancer for a small video company and they would never accept if I deliver in h.264.
Quality isn't good enough and it can be difficult if you need to edit frame exactly. And that's what an editor / cutter  usually does.

I wouldn't care much about IS rejections. I once had a rejection, where the inspector criticized something in the animation which wasn't there. I had some Sun animations with flares and some without and he even criticized the flares in the clips without them. In this case I complained and got right, but usually I don't reup to IS, it's not worth the time, if other agencies accepted the clip.
Maybe in your case the inspector just used a wrong player.

I upload my animations always as .mov photoJPG and never had problems.
