Pond5 / Re: am I missing something here?
« on: December 08, 2016, 02:52 »
Maybe un-submitted uploads get purged after a few months? Ask P5 support.

102
Maybe you should reinstall After Effects from the Creative Cloud installer. Adobe Media Encoder should be installed automatically, and they should work together just fine.
Also, the AE forum from Adobe can be quite helpful with these types of issues.

103
What version do you have?

104
To get the MP4, go to the presets in Media Encoder, select the Youtube preset for example, and tweak the settings to your likings.

What version of Media Encoder do you have? Normally you shouldn't have to install Media Encoder because Creative Cloud installer automatically installs it when installing After Effects.

105
I'm not sure what sells best, but I do 30fps to avoid the headaches caused by thinking about this. I'm from a 25fps country myself. I also think it's better to go from 30 to 25 or 24 than the other way around (using Twixtor or similar techniques). You can also slow down the clip (interpret footage), which works fine in many cases.

106
BTW, don't render interframe codecs like h264 directly from After Effects, the efficiency will be very low because it needs to evaluate multiple frames for encoding, and the After Effects render cue is not really made to do this.
That's why Adobe recommends using Media Encoder.

Now Media Encoder has it's own set of problems.. (might show up when doing 32bit/channel compositing for example)

107
Don't try to put h264 in the .mov container, QT won't do this above a certain resolution. In Media Encoder, use the MP4 container to render to whatever resolution you need.

108
QT sucks, that's why Adobe created Adobe Media Encoder. It sucks a little bit less. You can use that to export to h264 at 4k from After Effects.

Choose Export using Media Encoder, or just drag your After Effects comp into Media Encoder.

For me sales are normal, which means not great.

I think they try to fit the preview in a 16:9 window. Your footage isn't 16:9 so you get the black bars.

Thanks Trzmiel, sales seems like it's worth uploading?

Good to see this subject brought back. I'm considering switching to Windows :'( now that Apple seemingly stopped caring about Pro customers.. What is the current state of ProRes on Windows?

- Quicktime on Windows is capable of playing back ProRes files AFAIK. Any problems with this?
- I know it's possible to make ProRes files with 3rd party plugins. After installing, is ProRes available from Adobe Media Encoder?
- Do the agencies accept ProRes files that are created with 3rd party plugins? (Apparently Getty won't)

Thanks!

Speaking of thumbnails, is there any way to change the thumbnail for a videoclip?

I use my full name, I'm proud of my work.

Hello big Investor

This is the Anonymous:  http://www.facebook.com/hungstartup

Are you real, too?

Anonymous person on the internet, looking for big investors.

I'm anonymous but real. Also not looking for investors, because I would not do that anonymously. I would do that with my full name, because trustworthiness is one of the most important things for investors. They need to have confidence in you.

Of course, what I'm saying is pretty obvious. But if this is how you handle suggestions and critics, good luck.

You're link doesn't work. You're still anonymous.

Go to Upload Media, choose View FTP Settings at the bottom of the screen that pops up. There you can request a temporary FTP login.

My OCD also has a problem with this. But really I just want this done automatically at the end of each month.

Pond5 / Re: Minimum prices at Pond5
« on: October 05, 2016, 10:45 »
Received this exciting (no, really) email:

Quote
Our goal is to help you grow your business on Pond5. One of the trends weve seen recently is that some creative assets are being under-priced and can command a price greater than what they are currently listed for. We want to address that.

Starting on October 6, 2016 we will be raising the minimum price for all video assets on the site to the following:
4K / 4K+
$50 Minimum

HD / 2K
$25 Minimum

SD / WEB
$15 Minimum

Good news! Even though the minimum prices are still far from what I would ask, it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully it also teaches some contributors the value of video footage.

Progress! I didn't get the email, but I found out why on the P5 forums:

Hi all. We are testing higher minimum pricing levels starting with video later this week. This email went out only to artists who had clips which fell below our new minimum pricing levels. If you did not receive the email, there is nothing to worry about, your clip prices already comply. If you did receive the email please check your clips priced below the minimum and adjust accordingly. As many of you know and appreciate, we remain the only major player in the industry which allows artists to set their own prices. Please let us know if you have any questions.

So only people who had files below the new minimum got the mail. Apparently recently uploaded and unedited files which are at 1$ also trigger the mail.

I dumped them after no sales for a year.

Oh wait, that was ClipDealer.de

I dumped Clipcanvas because I have only ever sold 1 file there!  ;D  Took me a while to get my account disabled and receive payment though..

122
To get rich you only need 10 photos. 10 good photos. Real good photos.

Numbers don't matter. If you offer what people want, then you will sell. There is no trick, no keyword combo algorithm crap that will sell bad photos.

Why . do people think it works like this?

Sometimes this forum disappoints me. For instance, there are people on the video forum asking how to downsize a videofile.. I mean, what? You want to sell stuff to serieus advertising agencies around the world, but you don't even know the basics? If you're an amateur, that's fine of course, but this will reflect in your earnings. Uploading more low end stuff won't help, because this is not what the customers are looking for.

Ok rant is over! I even deleted most of it. ;)

123
I'm still selling there, they are tied with Pond5 as second best seller income wise this year, behind Shutterstock. They are the only company that reject some of my clips, even stuff that sells elsewhere so sales could be better.

If you have a million photos, you won't sell 1000x more than if you had a 1000 photos from different subjects. There's just so many cat photos that you can take, so at those numbers you are your biggest competitor. You won't attract 1000x more customers, but the chance increases very much that they'll find what they're looking for.
