Gotta say, I really like the people working at Dissolve. They make time to reply to my questions, they listen to my criticism on issues such as VB price levelling. And even though they wouldn't make an exception for me, they did listen and explained their views in a friendly way.
Fine by me, it's their business, and they can run it the way they want it.

For me sales are very good, behind SS but fighting for 2nd place with P5. YMMV.

Thanks, this is interesting! Why not post this in the General Stock Video forum? Many video contributors stopped uploading at iStock so they don't come here.

http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-video/

For quality, I would mostly be interested in bit-depth, sharpness, noise and quality of gradients (banding).

178
For me the list is the same. Minus iStock because of a clash between their ultra low commissions and my self respect.

179
Oops I misread that.

I agree with you...but do you think pond5 cares about???i doubt...

If they are making more money with the membership program, they don't.

What is your source?

SS is really bad this month.

VB nothing this month until today when I woke up to an HD and a 4K sale. First 4K sale there for me, and at $199 I'd like more of those.  :D

182
Don't do istock.  ;)

183
Don't worry about it, welcome to the internet!  ;)  People somehow expect the worst.

184
I called Paypal, they told me they would wait for a reaction by Pond5 on this before releasing the money..

185
I also see sales increasing, this year already more sales than 2015 total. So that is also 3 or 4 times more. Still a low seller though.

186
My payment is on hold as well.. Haven't heard back from Paypal support yet.

Thank you Daryl.

Make better stuff, but don't fool your fellow contributors. The stock agencies however very much like that divide and conquer strategy.

In fact, how awesome would it be to all be united like a union, and force better contracts from the stock companies?

no..

it's because you all came here to brag about your sales and people who weren't even aware of videoblocks learned about that site which automatically created competition for you..

everybody wants a piece of the pie.. once people hear it's a good site, they will flood that site with their own content..

if you are having great sales on a given site, the most important way to maintain your sales is;

to "not announce that site on public forums"  :D

More contributors make a site more viable, which leads to more customers, which leads to more sales. VB is doing fine for me this month. But small sites like this one tend to have erratic sales.

Pond5 / Re: Pond 5 review changes

I just had a badge of clips reviewed that were submitted 6 weeks ago, all of them were approved.

Adobe Stock / Re: Video sales on FT

I definitely see an increase. Sales are still low in comparison to SS for example, but this year already I've sold as much as 2015. YMMV.

Dissolve / Statistics / activity reports
« on: March 31, 2016, 04:51 »
Does anyone know when or if we will ever get realtime sales statistics instead of the email contributor activity reports?

193
Someone should buy their own stock, too see if the sale gets reported.

As for sales, I can't see any down or upward trend hidden in the irregularities. But the irregularities themselves are not more or less irregular than say P5.

General - Stock Video / Re: Selling direct on vimeo?
« on: March 26, 2016, 11:39 »
It would be so great if a reputable brand such as Vimeo or Youtube were to offer stock footage. Custom watermarks, original file downloads, extended licenses, embeddable in your own website so you can sell directly, etcetera.

Imagine if you could offer someone say 10% off sales prices when they sell your Vimeo stock embedded in their website. You'd see hand-curated stock selling websites selling our stuff, while prices and conditions stay in the hands of the us, the producers.

Free moneys!  ;D  ;)

I understand he doesn't want people to render out presets and make money of those, but to forbid using Element3D to render your own 3D models and textures, that's just harsh. In fact, the more I think about this the more it irritates me.  >:(
I love what he does and has done for the VFX and motion graphics community. I've bought every plugin he ever made (not modelpacks), and I'll use them where I see fit.

196
This thread at shutterstock has some examples, people here seem to think that it's ok to use for footage. Warning, some really ugly examples there, might ruin your good taste! http://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/62042-element-3d-finally/?hl=video+copilot#entry1148714

Also a bit of searching around, and I found a lot of stock that looks like simply rendered out plugin presets...

197
Shutterstock doesn't seem too worried about this, some of the stuff even has "video copilot" as a tag. I wonder if this is enforced, or if it will even stay up in court.

198
So I was looking around the Video Copilot site, great plugins. Sadly the license agreement states that the use of the plugins for stock is forbidden!

This is the EULA (pdf) look for section 4a

And I quote a part of it:

Quote
4. ADDITIONAL LICENSE RESTRICTIONS.
(a) Template/Pre-Render and Stock Media Restrictions. The Software enables You to render and create Your own Works. You cannot pre-render or flatten images created with the Software using Content or other media from any source for use as a template or stock media to offer for sale and/or use to third parties (except as otherwise indicated below). But You can create a project using the Software so long as no Content/media from any source is pre-rendered, and offer or sell those Works to third parties. However, Your offer or sale of Your Works to others cannot include any Content; the purchaser of Your Works must own or acquire a license to such Content by purchasing the appropriate Software.

Other quote:
Quote
In this regard, no Content that You have rendered or any Work that You have created with the Software or media from any source can serve as any sort of stock footage, stock photography or stock media, as animated background or editable media files, or otherwise be offered to the public or compete with the Software or any Video Copilot product, whether offered for free or payment.

So you can use the plugins to sell whatever you create directly to customers. But you cannot render out the effects if you are going to sell that stuff as stock footage.
You can however sell AE project files that use the plugin, without pre-rendering the plugin output. So the buyer of the AE project file has to buy the plugin from Video Copilot.

Still happy? P5 really sucks for me this month. Feb was great.

I did a search on Twitter and saw a message from a Revostock customer, not contributor, who had money in his account. That money is gone now. There must be thousands of stock buyers like him who lost their money.
