How many more years before something like Google reverse image search is available for video? I've never seen one of my videos in the wild.

I tried most, and find that only Shutterstock, Pond5, Dissolve and Videoblocks are worth it (in order of income). I quit Clipcanvas, Clipdealer and iStock. I stopped uploading at Fotolia, 123RF, Canstockphoto and MotionElements. These combined are less than 5% of my income.
I haven't tried Videohive, prices are too low for me. If prices went up, I'd maybe sell my low earners there.

Is there money in After Effects projects? I'm not talking about epic huge UI kits, but more general "replace title" "replace photos" type projects?

If you're a very experienced and talented motion graphics designer, sales will be great. Same goes for video, or photos really. Experience, training, talent, luck, all are important.
Only way to get there is to start. But truthfully, if you've never done this, be prepared to have very few sales. What you make must be as good, and preferably better, than all those other people selling motion graphics.

Is Pond5 not only for Video? Sorry for my lack of knowledge.
No, but a simple visit to the website would have told you that..

Can't believe that people are just letting him go. I definitely go after people that owe me money. It's probably that attitude that came across clearly in my email to him, because he did pay me. Granted, the amount was far less than some of the numbers reported here.
Side effect of people doing nothing, he will probably go and scam other people knowing how easy it is to get away with.
How do you know people are letting him go? Maybe the ones who are losing a lot of money are looking into filing a lawsuit, in which case they wouldnt be talking about it in a public forum. And dont forget...$12000 is a heck of a lot of money, but think what a lawsuit might cost. I am certain it isnt a case of people WANTING to let him go, but more a problem of unscrupulous people knowing how they can rip people off and get away with it, because the cost of doing something about it is greater than what is owed. Seems like the best plan with these online companies is to not get in a position where they owe you that much money.
Good points. Having assurance for legal costs is not common in the USA I guess?

Pond5 has stopped working for me after the site redesign. It logs in fine, but doesn't display any stats.

Hi Irina,
Regarding Nimia, I also started to use it as backup platform and even a showcase platform to share clips with clients. Regarding sales, I don't expect too much. I don't use their content request system. For backup and archive purposes, Nimia has a great file system, but I avoid to specify many of the fields like the temperature of the color or the type of lens, I don't need them. Maybe could be nice for some productions to have this kind of detail for organization purposes.
Thanks for sharing That's a wealth of info there, great for those of us just starting out, I hope to also post my 1 year report in Jan 2017. Would you be able to share actual income figures? if not, no problem
3 sales at Videoblocks is around $150, which is 10% of total earnings, so that means $1500 in 1 year. Assuming HD sales.

There are several Prores encoders for Windows.

You could animate photos. Make a very wide photoshop document of several islands and slide it from left to right. Add some camera motion as if the boat is gently rolling on the waves. If you animate this well it could be a seamless loop.

Dissolve is doing well for me, 3rd dollar wise, not far behind P5 in 2015. YMMV.

Yes indeed! At least 16 bit I would say. (imagine doing curves/levels on 8 bit images, you end up with a much lower precision)
But even better is OpenEXR (.exr) for 32-bit float compositing which has many benefits. Can't overstate this enough. Once you get the hang of 32 bit compositing (overbrights, linear workflow) things get nice. It's way too much to explain here, but I suggest you and anyone doing animations to delve into this. Google away!

Yes, Prores is much higher quality, it will survive heavy color correction adjustments much better than the other two. It also supports 10 bit color/channel. It does however depend on which flavor of Prores you use.
h264 is a delivery codec for this reason, it's hard to do a lot of adjustments without running into problems. For blue/green screen stuff it also sucks, since it saves color information at only a quarter resolution! It fine for delivery, bad for editing.
Photo JPEG just sucks (banding issues), but some agencies ask for it anyway.

A blog would make sense if you sell photos as art. But for microstock purposes, it makes no difference for reasons described in the posts above.

It would be awesome if we could sell footage from our Adobe Stock portfolio directly through our Adobe Portfolio / Behance site.

Well I haven't sold a single video file yet! Just kidding, great to see our stuff on Adobe Stock. When do we get a discount on Adobe Creative Cloud?

The text on his website with wasn't even text, but a jpeg of text. I guess that way he prevented it from being indexed or something..
