Hi, I had been a contributor at shutterstock over many years.  As my company decided to close stock activity I requested shutterstock to close account in end-December 2020.  At that time there had been over a hundred remaining images many of which I had tried to delete manually but they kept re-appearing.  Anyway I was informed by one of their Expert responders that it can take up to 90 days for the account to be fully closed and I decided to wait out that period.  It is now over 90 days but my remaining images are still showing on sale at shutterstock, but without showing any contributor name.
Have written again to shutterstock (awaiting response) but meanwhile am wondering if someone here has similar experience with shutterstock?

Hi, I'm trying to close me Dreamstime account as well.  Have disabled all my files as they asked me to do.  They had emailed me that I can suspend the account from the public site from Management Area/Edit profile button.  However I do not find a link to suspend account on the 'Edit your profile' page.  Can anyone please help!

Thanks in advance  :)

Speaking of losers.. how's it going for everyone on 123rf?

My earnings have almost halved there comparing 2014 to 2016 :(

Thanks, thats great to know :)

I feel stuck with Part III Claim of Tax Treaty Benefits. How does one respond on 14 a, b, c? And 15 Special rates and conditions?  Any comment much appreciated.

All other sections don't really seem to apply..

Hi, thanks for the response.

I already have EIN number (mine also includes a hyphen, although on different sites it seems to work with or without hyphen as far I can remember).  However my problem is how to fill the W8BEN E form (April 2016 version) that SS now require?  This is 8-pages long although I think only few columns need to be filled out.  Do you have any idea about it?

Hi, anyone know how to fill the latest W8BEN E (April 2016 version) for filing to Shutterstock?  It should apply if you are not US based and operate your account through a private limited company (called AB in Sweden).

Any guidance much appreciated, thanks!

And a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all !!

Slow looking month for me too  :( hope it picks up a bit in the last week ...

Its sad that SS, that was long seen as positive and contributor-friendly, seems to have trudged away in a different direction. First came the BS takeover when many contributors were left off the 'bridge' and ended up with ridiculously low sub royalties that undercut even SS sub commissions. Then, in many recent months many contributors have seen a declining trend in downloads (I surely have), probably due to the massive growth in content at the agency.  And finally there's been no raise for contributors in a long, long time ..

The sheen has certainly worn off. Sad.  :(

General Stock Discussion / Re: StockPodium? anyone..
« on: April 14, 2015, 12:33 »
Yes, thank you.

I wrote to 123RF as well and was informed that my images (although displayed by StockPodium, an ex-partner of 123RF) are however not available to purchase from that site. I tested some images and this was correct.

However, they should not even be 'displaying' my images - esp. as I have opted out for Distributor sales from 123RF!!  So have emailed 123RF once again and hoping that they fix the annoying issue fast

Also makes one wonder how many ex-partners, resellers etc. continue to 'display' one's work long after you opt out from distributor sales?  Doesn't seem very professional does it!!  >:(

General Stock Discussion / StockPodium? anyone..
« on: April 13, 2015, 18:09 »
Surprised to find a whole bunch of my images selling on a site called StockPodium.

Have written to them twice to clarify what authority they have to sell my images - and waiting for reply!!  :-\

Wondering if anyone knows anything about this site .. or has any experience with them?

We are simply bottom feeders in a large pond.

Slavery it may not be.. but the share of the pie we receive, does seem more and more like a slave's share

I wish I had never uploaded to this site.  While I have deactivated a good part of my port, it remains concerning that DP keeps deactivated images in their system instead of deleting them. WHY? one wonders ..  :-\

Bigstock.com / Re: No more uploads for me

Stopped uploading and deleted my best content out from Bigstock since many months ago.

Its quite ridiculous that they pay a miserly sub royalty, way lower than even SS which is same ownership.  ... just didn't find that acceptable!

 :(

Likewise, have emailed PD about clarification and also enquired about account closing.

Last thing one needs is audit and tax problems on the pennies made so unnecessary  ???

PhotoDune / Re: I'm Done with Envato
« on: February 20, 2015, 18:43 »
My rejections are pretty low at PD (till now anyway) so no complaints about that!  However some months ago I found my b&w images getting rejected for some reason.  So I sent an email pointing out that the b&w's had been getting steady downloads from my port in past.  Hopefully that helped reduce b&w rejections - haven't tracked it.

The tax issue relating to their re-structure is another story and one that keeps concerning me .. esp since I'm based in Europe.  Waiting and watching for the moment, since don't really understand if there's reason for concern yet ..

I got 5 of these yesterday ..

I want a fair deal. I want buyers to get a fair deal. I'd like the agency/sales site to stick around and keep their promises. Good business can be built on such things.

The wasteland of the last decade in micro stock (snipped only to keep the big picture :))) gives us lots of examples of what to avoid and what not to do :)

I find this brilliantly stated.  Taken as an overview it reaffirms what any sincere contributor may want.  Simple business ethics lays the groundwork on which a win-win situation might occur for all ...

Opted out, as it didn't make financial sense to me from a contributors point.

Ngon str infr liknande situation?  :-\

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

While on this thread, I understand that this would only be relevant if one was selling direct to consumer (example, Symbiostock).

But others (either company or individual micro stocker) who was selling ONLY through stock agencies should not be affected?  As its the stock agency who would be taking on the sales to consumer accounting and tax.  Can anyone guide please?  Am I seeing this correctly or is there an impact even if one is selling only through stock agencies??

As a micro stocker with company based in Sweden, I'm wondering how all this will finally affect me :)

As far as I know DP only deactivates images - so that they remain in their system - instead of being deleted on contributor request.  I was not comfortable with this and that's one reason (AMONG others) that I stopped uploading to this agency.  >:(

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock Reports Q3 2014 Results
« on: November 07, 2014, 05:49 »
Its great to see a stock agency doing well in the marketplace.  It shows positivity when many other agencies seem to be struggling, creating an overall negative environment.

Having said that, its unfortunate that SS have not come out with any increase in basic  commission structure to contributors in a number of years. The producers of the content also have costs and also live in an inflationary world.  An agency when doing well, could remember that contributors are the backbone of this industry and owners of the content. Should we not be a part of the success?
