Veer / Re: Not getting paid?
« on: November 21, 2012, 17:08 »
I haven't been paid yet either.

Its 6 days since I got a Veer notice that I've been PAID.  No money showed up in my Paypal, not till now.  I sent email yesterday and no reply yet.  Wonder what's goin on with these guys...

Just got an email from Ryan.  Basically says that they're 'having an issue sending payments at the moment ..we should have this corrected shortly'.  Its great to get a response - hope the payment follows shortly.

Veer / Re: Veer experiencing site-wide issues at the moment
« on: November 21, 2012, 15:17 »
Hi all,

Just a heads up that Veer is experiencing site-wide issues at the moment, affecting both customer and contributor tools.  Our apologies for the disruption, we are working to resolve the situation asap.

Also, you can check our twitter feed @veercontributor for further updates, as well as reach us at [email protected] for specific questions.

Update: The site is now up and running, please message us if you see further issues

Hi,

Are the site wide issues affecting payments?  I got notice that I'd been paid about a week back.  No money has showed up in my paypal yet.  Sent email reminders and waiting for response.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy cutting all commissions by 10%
« on: November 20, 2012, 15:53 »
1:07 - "We have to modify our commission split to bring us in line with the competition"

In other words, everyone else is taking a grotesque amount from the photographer, if we are going to compete, we need to as well.

50% is still good and what I'd call fair but it is still a big disappointment seeing them pressed to do this.  Interestingly he corrects the interviewer when she says that alamy is getting 10% more.. he corrects her saying "10 more percentage points".. really Alamy is getting a 25% increase in the share of a sale which is a seriously big amount.  All I have to say is hopefully they do something smart with it.

I didnt quite get the comparison to other sites,  think he named shutterstock and some others and compared alamy commission to them.  That argument doesnt work for me because shutterstock (as an example) sells tons more content for me than alamy, so the turnover makes up the numbers.  Alamy in comparison sellls much less.. its only worthwhile being in there because of the much better contributor cut.  Not happy they're reducing it :(

Shutterstock.com / Re: Slow November
« on: November 20, 2012, 15:38 »
This month is super slow($$$) on SS. Is it only me or........
Any thoughts?

SS pretty good showing recovery over sept - oct.  DT is ok.  FT dropped mid month and staying in a hole.  IS up and down as usual for me.  Bigstock doing well compared to my usual numbers since last 2 to 3 months. Oct was a BME month unfortunately Nov wont match up.  Lets see what Christmas brings ;)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Review times by 123RF
« on: November 07, 2012, 17:34 »
I think there's some kind of system there.  When I first started with 123RF the review times seemed to be few days at least.  Now I find them to be one of the fastest, usually within a day the pics seem to be reviewed and online.  Wish you success with 123RF!

General Stock Discussion / Re: I sit here and upload.

Yes, I sit here and upload too - week after week with iStock gobbling up major chunks of my upload time.  Saw yr website Lisafx and congrats, great site!  Wish it were open to other contributors, the likes of me, always looking for new and better outlets with painless uploads and more than pennies on the sale...

Canon / Re: How is the Canon 24-105 L for stock?
« on: November 06, 2012, 11:39 »
Dont know about the 24-105 but I use the 24-70 f/2.8 L and the 70-200 f/4 L usually with 5D markII and between them I got pretty much everything that I need covered for stock.  The 70-200 is tack sharp but the 24-70 doesn't lag too behind either.

BME :) a great month pushed up with payouts from Alamy as well as Veer (first time) in addition to my other sites.  Although SS lagged below its usual performance .. wondering why?  Its been my best performer for many months so hoping it comes back up.

Congratulations. You continue to inspire ... wish you great success!  :D

Here are some statistics from our backend at PeopleImages.com from today :. Just wanted to celebrate a bit, since my sales are down on almost all other sites. :(
Peopleimages.com: 5 months in, $0 spent on marketing (to come later) and increases in sales by almost 100% per month. (Still low actual monthly sales, but with days like today, getting much closer to something that might actually go into profit one day)

Clients report two things they like:
The site is super fast and userfriendly. They are tired of waiting for pages to load on fotolia, dreamstime, istock, shutterstock, etc.
Customer support is extremely helpful and friendly.

Anyway. A little celebration. Y
