Shutterstock.com / Re: How are sales going?- Shutterstock
« on: January 19, 2014, 17:56 »
I have that dip as well but it is an error.  I was getting sales on images uploaded in December but that part of the chart showed up as 0 sales for new content for those 2 weeks.

123RF / Re: New Limited Extended License?
« on: January 16, 2014, 09:43 »
I wrote support and they replied that the minimum price of an LEL is 20 credits.

I am tier 3 so I get 40%.  I got $1.24 so that means the total price was $3.10.

If the minimum is 20 credits then if my calculation is correct it is 15.5 cents per credit

I know this is an old topic, but I got one of these LELs the other day and made $1.24.  Can anybody "top" that?

HI everyone,

Please note that LELs are not at fixed price of 20 credits, we negotiate on the pricing based on the extent of usage.

Just wanted to make that clear. Some of you might be getting 30 or 40 credit versions of the LELs.

Thank you very much,

Alex.

Looks like you can also get these at much less than 20 credits as well.

Not sure if everyone knows this, but if you go to Earnings -> Payment History it will give you information on US vs non-US earnings.

I'm having problems as well.  I had to use the web upload for my last two batches because it wouldn't process my ftp uploads.

I upgraded yesterday.

You have to actually remove version 2.6.5 and then install the latest version, which I believe is 2.9.4.

If the Symbiostock folder is already there then it won't install so you need to either delete that folder or rename it.  I recommend just renaming it in case something really gets screwed up then you can just go back to 2.6.5.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Report your SYS sales
« on: October 03, 2013, 12:27 »

are the unranked sites listed in order?  before entering the list, self hosted was next to stocksy -- so does that mean when stocksy gets enough votes it should be at about the same level as self?

and that revostock is doing better than 3d? (random selections)?

I always assumed that the unranked sites just weren't really worth bothering with.  Now it would appear some of them could actually be pretty good earners.  Maybe Leaf could add a link to where we can see the poll results of every site regardless of how many votes it has.  I understand that 1 or 2 votes could really skew the numbers for a site that doesn't have many votes but it would still be interesting to see.

Looks like people are reporting.  Self-hosted is at the top of the middle tier right now.

Yeah, it seems to be working now.  Seems like it was just an issue for an hour or so this morning.

Anyone else having trouble with Fotolia?

The homepage comes up fine but when I try to go into my account I get this:

Can I submit my own cutouts?
Yes, you can. Simply submit a cut out file in PNG format. As you cant embed metadata in PNG files youll have to enter it at submission. Well review the image for the quality of the cutout as well as all the other aspects we usually review.

Perhaps you can explain the advantage of submitting isolated files in the PNG format. I'll have to go back into each file and add the metadata. Will these files be given any preferential treatment? If not, then it would be easier for me to submit JPEGs (with a white background) and the data already embeded.

I believe that JPEG does not support transparency, whereas PNG files do.

Subs should be 25 cents.

If you haven't submitted your tax information then they withhold a percentage.  If that is the case then you should submit your tax info as soon as possible because they won't give what they are withholding back even after you submit your tax info.

These really old threads should be in a different color or something to make them easier to identify.  I read over half of this before realizing it was so old.

Site Related / Alamy Added to Poll Results
« on: April 19, 2013, 17:52 »
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but it looks like Alamy has been added to the poll results.  Can't wait to see where they come in on the rankings.

There seems to be a bug with it though because when I go to the voting page Alamy is listed twice.

I also noticed Stocksy is listed in the voting page.  Can't wait to see where that ranks as well.

93

There is a flaw in your logic there too
The choice is between uploading lots of files to sites that have poor returns versus creating new files that can be uploaded to sites with good returns.

To equal the average return of SS (83.9) seen across one needs to upload From Depositphotos down to Cutcaster (16 sites) (87.5)

If you have 1000 images at Shutterstock then you can double your income by uploading to every site from Deposit to Cutcaster.

To double your income with just Shutterstock you would need to produce 1000 new images, and that would take a LOT more time than just uploading already existing photos to other sites.

94

You forget the opportunity cost.

Let's say it takes you 20 hours to upload to the the sites that make you $1600

Sounds fantastic doesn't it an hourly rate of $80?

Had you instead invested those 20 hours on your best returning site you may have made $4000

The difference is opportunity cost.

Understand now? :-)

I don't understand.  You are just pulling whatever numbers you want out of thin air.  The only real number was $1600 and you just made up the other two.  If the numbers you gave are accurate then people should be able to pull in $16000 a month in microstock just by working 20 hours a week.  I wonder how many people are able to do that.

95
Sounds like you could improve your workflow.  Two hours per site per week sounds like a lot to me.

It takes me about 3 hours per week to submit 25 - 30 pics to about 15 sites, but almost none of mine have release forms.

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy launches NEW site !
« on: April 04, 2013, 10:55 »
I doubt making the upload process any easier is a priority for them.  They are way bigger than any of the micros with about 36 million images so the current upload process doesn't seem to be deterring anyone.

Pixmac / Re: Pixmac merges with Pond5
« on: March 12, 2013, 09:59 »
This is kind of off topic but I want to mention it since admins are looking at this thread.

It is soooooo annoying that Pond5 down cases all the IPTC data.  I know most people don't seem to care but I can't stand looking at my titles and descriptions all in lower case feel compelled to fix them all.

Furthermore, I include city and country in my IPTC data but these always show up blank after upload in Pond5.

What is particularly frustrating about these issues is that it would probably take about 2 lines of code to fix all of them.

99
Actually, Yaymicro has a 'Submit All' button.

The OP mentions it was footage.

Anyway, I've submitted footage while photos were already in the queue and the footage was reviewed promptly while the pics languished in the queue.
