Alamy.com / Re: RM pricing - up to 70% off
« on: September 15, 2013, 12:28 »

Here's a picture I just shot a few weeks ago that reminds me of the MS industry (it's a great white shark).

Mantis.      Jealous. Great picture. My favourite animal.

Yuri,

It is a very confident blog, maybe too confident (being diplomatic). I have no axe to grind with you and I am not jealous of your success as stock is a hobby for me. You earned your success.

I don't see mobiles being the future as you do. Quality is not good enough. There is money to be made if you are in the right place at the right time like citizen journalism.

My experience is when a leader in a field leaves then someone fills the gaps. Everyone is replaceable. The world moves on and adapts.

If you can take loyal customers with you and earn more money when the stock industry appears to be racing to the bottom, then good luck to you.

Alamy.com / Re: Do you want to ask the Alamy CEO a question?
« on: June 25, 2013, 11:09 »
First 2 videos don't mention anything about key wording.  I hope there is a question and answer on this on the next video. I don't understand why Alamy persist with 3 categories that make it harder to upload then it should be. Simplifying this must be a priority.

11,995 in the UK. Didn't realise the exchange rate is now 1:1. Rip off Britain.  Should be about 7900.

I can't afford either price anyway  :-[

Adobe Stock / Re: My images always refused by fotolia
« on: May 01, 2013, 14:31 »
Completely understand the concept, but my point is that they DO sell the images of the subject they have refused from me. I wouldn't write this post otherwise. I see similar images to what they have refused selling well. Don't tell me it's because my images are bad quality and so on. If they were, they wouldn't have been accepted anywhere else.

I don't understand the acceptance criteria at FT. No one really does. I also have many files that sell elsewhere that FT refuse. That's the way it is. I don't agree with it but Its not worth worrying about. If I did I would be suffering from depression by now. There have been many similar threads on this issue. My attitude is submit once. If they accept great, if not, crack on with next submissions.

Pond5 / Re: Official question for POND5
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:23 »
I tried following links to help files and they were all dead.  Multiple button clicks to do this and that.  Video terminology mixed in everywhere.  UI box didn't tell me what to do when uploads done uploading.  Just very clunky.  And my experimental image from Monday is still pending.

10 days later, single image still sitting there, pending.
I put about a 1000 images up there and they were pending for 6 weeks. They've taken everything that I threw at them though so it wasn't a waste of time. Uploading isn't too bad once you work out the best way to do it.

I have had 190 accepted after a month. After 2 days they are not on-line yet. How long does that take?

Alamy.com / Re: Alamy launches NEW site !
« on: April 04, 2013, 03:54 »
Enable the site to read metadata for Title, Caption and drop all the keywords into Comprehensive, we can edit from there. People will send you vast praise and thanks.  :)

I like the Essential Box limit which makes people think about what words really count and matter, instead of their favorite 500 words that are often distant or irrelevant. (spam) But making it easier to add keywords and some EXIF data, would be very kind of you.

I disagree. I would like the keywords dropped into Main Keywords and the Essential and Comprehensive keywords removed. That is what people really want, one set of keywords.

General Stock Discussion / Lightroom 4.4 Update
« on: April 03, 2013, 06:00 »
In case you didn't get the automatic update in Lightroom there is an new upgrade.

Adobe says "This update includes bug fixes, new lens profiles, and support for 23 new cameras. This release also includes improved support for the X-Trans image sensor in FujiFilm cameras, such as the X-Pro1."

68
dirkr- Thanks for that. Just what I needed.  :)

Poncke, I will have a look at Stockloader.

When I download pictures via Filezilla I have to open each site one at a time and wait for one site to upload before manually going onto another and doing the uploading process again. Can the process be automated. Downloading to many sites is a pain.  I have been searching the net and this site but found no solution.

If Filezilla can't do this can anyone recommend something that does.

Cheers.

Pond5 / Pond5 - average review time?
« on: March 27, 2013, 07:01 »
I joined Pond5 over 2 weeks ago and have yet to have any files reviewed. I have emailed them  but have had no reply. I know they have just merged and may be a bit busy, but what is the average review time for this site?

Newbie Discussion / Re: New to microstock
« on: March 15, 2013, 09:48 »
Try looking at the various forums critique pages.. Shutterstock critique forum is a good place to look at the standard required there. They can be a bit harsh on there but the truth hurts sometimes. Try here , they are not a bad bunch. Microstock is a demanding profession. The standards are very high for the rewards you get. Rejection is part of the job. I am new to this and it has been a learning curve. Each site has differing criteria and my best selling picture on one site has been rejected more than once on another. If everything is getting rejected then there must be something you are doing wrong. Good luck, listen to advice , improve your technical ability and keep trying.

123RF / Re: got $3.00 for a EEL sale? really?
« on: March 15, 2013, 07:41 »
I have just got $0.906 for a PEL , which is 50 credits. Have sent of an email to much sure it is correct.

Any one else got one this low lately?

 :(

@uvox - Our team has investigated your account and your email which came in approximately 5 hours ago. We have found that there are no PEL downloads on your account - both on your earnings page as well as on our database tables. Our Submission Email team member has replied to your email with even more conclusive details.

Thank you for reaching out.

Alex.

I received my reply back. I didn't get a PEL. It was a XXLMH. The confusion was that on viewing my downloads on my android tablet the column formatting was wrong making it look like it was a sale in the  PEL column. It was hard to notice as the formatting is fine for the beginning and end of the columns but goes funny in the middle. If you look at the same page on a computer it is OK.  123RF are getting their software people to change the page.  The issue also arose on a different tablet. No PEL , maybe next time.
