Did some yesterday but they never showed up. Went back into Filezillza and deleted them from server. I then reloaded and they came up very quickly.

Newbie Discussion / UK Camera Insurance - Who do you use?« on: February 03, 2013, 11:10 »
Went to renew my home insurance and they now won't insure my camera equipment like last year. I was wondering what insurance, people use in the UK. This is my second job and I have just started microstock. Home insurance companies don't seem to allow camera protection, if you earn any money from it as they class you as a business. I have been researching the dedicated insurers but do not know much about them.

I have just seen this on IS forum. Will help searching if your image has been used.
Posted By sjlocke: I've downloaded all 6923 images available on Google, and should have a page tomorrow, possibly with all the images and exif. In the meantime, here is a text list so you can search in your browser and see if you find yourself: http://seanlockephotography.com/data.html 85
General Stock Discussion / Re: stock photography in decline: Google Trends ?« on: January 08, 2013, 07:37 »
Just a thought. The data assumes that Google is used as the search engine. Has there been a decline in Google? Or worse do they have a greater market share.

Photo Critique / Re: iStock and Shutterstock application - advice requested« on: December 08, 2012, 09:05 »
As a newbie myself, I find FT are the hardest to get my photos on. Many others seem to say the same.
Please, don't wait. Submit your photos, take the plunge. The worst that can happen is you have to wait a month to reapply. Its a learning curve. Learn from the rejections, don't take them to heart. I reckon you will get accepted at IS. Your pictures are simple, but sites like that. Good luck. 89

Maybe they will do a 'Starbucks' and realise how important their contributors are and start to listen to them, but more importantly change.

IS are definitely rattled by what they are hearing on the forums, but are not willing to apologise or accept any blame. I am sure it is all about the bottom line. It always is.

Newbie Discussion / How long did it take you to get on Shutterstock« on: November 23, 2012, 07:17 »
I was wondering how long it took you to get on Shutterstock. Last three times I have been unsuccessful.
1. 5 Accepted. 2. 4 Accepted, resubmitted original 5 accepted plus 5 new. Only 3 of 5 originals accepted plus 1 new. 3. 3 Accepted, resubmitted 4 that passed last time plus 6 new. only 1 from last time accepted plus 2 new. Overall have had 9 files approved but never at the same time. 1 file passed all 3 submissions. Seem to fail for composition. The approval seems very subjective. Hope to have more luck next time. 93
Adobe Stock / Re: Is it just me, or is EVERYTHING being rejected over at Fotolia?« on: November 21, 2012, 12:34 »
I have a high FT failure rate (80%). It seems to be the way it is. I feel they have stricter rules and you need to understand the style of photos they want. I have considered leaving them but as a relative newcomer I will give it some time to adjust to their style.

Alamy.com / Alamy Rejections« on: November 21, 2012, 11:16 »
Interestingly after the new price announcement, I have had 3 batches and 61 photos rejected. Different themes. My acceptance rate was excellent (95%+) and some (and all) of the photos have been accepted on various other sites. Coincidence! Has this happened to others? A change in direction?

I haven't sold on Alamy yet. If it increases sales the I can accept that. I wait to be convinced. 50% is still good compared to rest of the market. My issue with the site is the the key wording/submission process which makes it the longest site for me to complete. Why have 3 categories? A simpler process would be a nice way to spend some of the money. I like the 123RF process.
