Ticket opened 32 days ago.  Still no payment.
From what I saw last time one dude was waiting over 45 days.

Something to think about though,  if they are not paying royalty as per their own agreement then do they have the right to license those images?

Almost a month and still no payment, no response to my ticket, nothing. Anyone else not getting payments

It's shocking and you aren't the only one according to their forums and Fb groups.

Have you been paid for June yet? I got this month's payment (for July) an hour ago. I hope you got two months' payment.

Nope, no payment yet. No reply to my ticket, nothing.

Only plus so far is they reopened my ticket that they closed, at least i think that's a plus lol.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Cost for models
« on: August 08, 2017, 17:29 »
Want to avoid the TFP situation for a couple reasons. Don't think it's fair to the model, and if I'm getting paid so should they. But also don want to work with someone else's expectations on what they will get 5hat may or may not be met. At least with money the expectation is money. If my images fall short it's my problem.

Understand wit using an agency or experienced models it's going to take more money and would be an easier idea as they know their rates. If working with someone newer do you pay a normal rate, or do you do a shoot under a trial rate and if it works call them back for more at a higher rate then?

Curious how much is a fair rate to pay a model? Not looking for top rate models or anything but have no idea what is considered fair. Even more so for a starting model or one with basic experience.

What do you all pay?

31
Which will make the most sales though?

Which do buyers typically want

Already racked up one late fee due to no paymentand as of tomorrow I have the chance of getting an overdraft fee as I have a payment set to come out from paypa, but there is no money there right now. This is gonan cause ot to hit my checking account which may or not have money there depending upon how long it takes for everything to go through.

This wouldn't be an issue if they paid per their stated times. What really worries me though is per another post on their forum this happened before for April's payment. Took about a month before payments came through.

So seems I stock is having an issueeither the July payment. Anyone else having issues? Also at this point are they responsible for any loss that happens due to their lack of payment?

34
That's kind of my issue. Most all my images are "time sensitive" concerts, sporting events, political marches and stuff. What I've found though is many still have shelf lifewell after the timely news period. He'll I have editorials of a sporting event I still seel regularly, it's been 4 years since the event and it was nothing major.

35
OK so tried to submit some editorial images I have and get a new rejection reason.

The image appears to depict news, sports or entertainment events or subject matter that is deemed to be timely news and not editorial stock. All newsworthy imagery should be submitted to the proper channels through the Getty Images news desk. Thanks for your understanding.

I'm not setup with getty directly, don't know who this news desk is, or how to submit my images to them. Never had this rejection reason before and I'm not sure what to do at this point.

36
Lol, that was what you call an example image :p

This one's already uploaded and tagged as editorial from way back.

37
Here is an example. I have a lot of images like this from events I was credentialed for.
There is nothing I can see in the image that gives away what band, or what performer is on stage. I don't even believe you can tell if the performer is male or female.

How would you approach this? I can understand if during the credentialing they made me sign a no resale or something like that prior. Many times though I just ask and get a yay or nay and that's it, nothing to sign.

« on: June 10, 2017, 20:56 »
I believe pond5 lets you download them, and I do have code42 to backup my stuff but trying to get away from huge downloads in the need of backup. Would rather store local. I do need more hard drives anways as my pictures are also running out of space, but just can't afford it now. soon though as I believe I can get 2tb for about 60 bucks on amazon.

With that though would I take a massive hit in quality only keeping the h.264 format and make photoJPG from that if I need it again?

As far as ProRes 422, can you get that on windows? No apple product is in my near future.

any way to see what your daily sales stats are or sales per image? helps me figure out what's selling, and what's wasting my time and now I can't seem to figure it out.

General - Stock Video / new to video, couple questions
« on: June 10, 2017, 11:15 »
If using the h.264 is there a much of a difference on quality, and storage space between MP4, vs MOV. Also is there much of a difference in sales between the two formats? Do buyers prefer one or the other for stock?
Same with h.264 vs photoJPG when using MOV. Is there much of a difference in sales between the two?

I'm running low on storage. With istock's requirement of everything be mov using photoJPG it just eats up my hard drive space. for keeping hard drive space usage minimal would it be okay to render the twice, once as photoJPG (for istock) and a second copy as h.264 then delete the photoJPG version after I upload it to istock.
If there is a need for the photoJPG version again just rerender it from the h.264 copy I have, or would this cause a loss in quality as it's a rerender from a different format and it would just be best to keep both formats? It's just hard to justify a 1.5gb clip and an additional 120mb clip for the same file.

Also how do you keyword video? I know with images and it's easy but video I'm not sure how to do so. Instead I've been uploading to every site then keywording there which leads to keywording the same video over and over for every site.

Then last question for now at least. Where are the sales with video? do okay on photo so far, but have no idea what to do or where to go with video.

Thank you.

Oh yeah and here I know many HATE istock.

So far though I don't have much for complains. Images Still Sell for me and since the new year sales have at least doubled and twice trippled what I was doing years past. So as it sits now still worth it to upload.

Just still adapting to the new esp setup so not sure what to expect anymore.

I had a batch of 14 images, they reviewed and approved 4. since then nothing has happened. I have submitted images after this batch and they all get approved in the usual 10 min, but this one batch just sits there after only reviewing 4 of the 14 images.

this normal with istock?

iStockPhoto.com / deep meta error 422 regarding shot date
« on: May 21, 2017, 13:01 »
camera shot date: dates must fall within the range of Jan 1, 1754 to today. It was shot on 4/25/2017 and the file info says that as well so I'm not sure what is causing this. only seems to be happening with editorial images though.

anyone have any idea what is going on?

46
It does....oops.

shutterstock, istock it's all the same right :-(

Guessing they get the approval for the image, then update keyword's after that

They seem to seel fairly well. Though to be honest, I'm sure many of my "editorial" images are being used commercially.

Not my problem though ifthey are licensed right.
