Does anybody know how to actually get a response to something from Getty? They never respond to inquiries through their ticket system, that's for sure.
The background is that I want to use one of my Getty exclusive images for a fine art publication and while the exhibition part of it appears to clearly exempt from the exclusivity, the publication part of doesn't... but of course I can't let the curator/publisher wait for months.
Quickest way to get an answer is through the getty forums.

I can see Wemark has some heavy hitters behind it and the concept is great ... I just wonder how they will drive buyers to the marketplace. There is really no incentive for buyers to move away from the established stock agencies. That said ... I hope they do.
If buyers want new content they will make the move. Getty with their Premium Access Theft Collection will get no new content very soon!
You seriously think new content will dry up at other sites?
I think photographers are smart people and they will decide what is best for them at the time.
We will see but I think it would be a massive gamble to upload to exclusively to an unproven platform and hope that a significant number of competitors would.
Giving away photos at $0.01 through a newly invented premium access collection through a proven and ''trusted'' platform it is also a gamble.

Please could someone in explain in one sentence, without jargon, what the benefit is of such sites to a customer.
The benefits are toted to be .. that the money can be transferred direct from the buyer to the photographer, no paypal middle man fees. .
Thank you! And thanks to everyone else for their explanations too
+ We get 85% of a sale and the rest stays in the network. A good client will certainly appreciate this!

all other sites update earnings in real time, why getty delay 6 weeks to this?
Because Getty is professional!

BME on IS. Mostly due to an $80 subscription royalty. I had <20 images get less than .28 cents (and some of those were Getty sales) but I have to say that the $80 sub really goes a long way into reducing my grumbles about their system. My average sub sale since they implemented the system is over 50 cents, nearly twice what I would have gotten with a flat rate.
That $80 subscription royalty is probably a mistake and expect a refund next month!

First we need to stop agencies giving our work away free and unwatermarked via holes in their api tech.
Exact! In my opinion the biggest problem is not people stealing our works; the biggest problem are agencies letting people stealing our works because of a lack of security on their sites (code).
Agreed

rather childish actually, all I look at is the monthly sales-reports. I was asking if the ESP is showing any stats? apart from the stupid spinning wheel! whats this the 15 year old brigade replying?
btw dont bother answering unless you can find something useful to say.
Was not a 15 year old asking the question?

Poor by shareholder standards, but they're pretty decent. I don't think they can keep growing the way they did since the market is struggle to grow any larger than it already is. I just hope they don't cut contributor rates in the future.
The market doesn't grow as the buying power hasn't changed since few years back. Lowering contributor rates would be just another shoot in the foot as sales numbers will not increase, whatever they forecast!

...and according to this phone conference, the number of subscription dls per buyer dropped and dls are down. So fewer dls and 57% more images means we're not crazy when we complain about a huge decrease in sales. Doesn't look good for the future.
...and add to that an 11% customer base growth.

Shutterstock released their second quarter 2017 results and they are miserable, which is why they're down 17% on NYSE today.
This data is Second Quarter 2017 highlights as compared to Second Quarter 2016. Which means within one year they have almost doubled their image and video collection, but revenue is up by only 8%. The market is oversaturated with cheap images.

But as now one sale amount can space from $0.02 to $100+ I am not sure that it is very useful.
I am pretty much sure we will have to forgot about the $100+ sales with the introduction of the Premium Access.

Where is the istockphoto contributor page ? I only see my profile as a buyer !

Brutally Honest Guide to Microstock Photography
I will be brutally honest with you. This is just another PR article. The 2 links mentioned in the article are not even getting any views. Why should I give 10 for this?

If you make quality images exclusivity can works. Signature + are well paid as subs and mirrowed in Getty (yes i know Getty is evil... but now exclusives with 1,5$- 2$ or RPI/month)
You are wrong with this. There is no price difference between an S or S+ subscription sale since the unification.

Just read something interesting on another forum it seems Getty/iStock are inviting contributors to upload to their site via linkedin.
Could you post a link, I would love to read this. Thanks!

Thanks for that. You said after 2 years you earned 85% of what you used to, what happened during the 2 years? FWIW these first couple months of the year have been very encouraging, I'm more optimistic now than I've been in probably 4 or 5 years but I'll have to see how it plays out in the next few months.
I still don't get it. Are you trying to convince us or yourself that istock is still worth it?

Every one of us would do much better with special deals (shutterstock or istock) giving higher % share of sales!
