New Sites - General / Re: new site stocktal
« on: September 06, 2014, 08:39 »
I joined them and have been accepted as contributor there. The site is still evolving, there are few issues here and there. The limit of MB per image is 10.  You can upload image of 10MB each for now. I have written to them to expand the per image limit. Some of the images of 24MP DLSR are above 10MB and that's because images are processed for multiple agencies.

The response of their team is warm and friendly. I am not sure whether they are here on MSG or not.

===========
Adding -- I noticed they have allowed now image upto 16MB for each. That's a welcome change. Appreciate that.

If Peter Lik can do it. He sells his images at very high price. This photographer can also do it. If you have a buyer, everything explains for itself.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Anyone using GH4 for stock
« on: July 22, 2014, 07:31 »
If you mean GH4 to Lumix GH4, it is nice camera with right controls. I have not used it but going by its specs and few pix at flickr. I can see it is stock ready camera.

500px needs to give us something like other agencies are offering, ie, free platform to sell the images. I just uploaded some of my images and was hit by 20 images per week counter. The upgrade page is asking for money. Having no stats of success or failure of 500px, I do not know whether there is break even point. There are two things 500px can do.

1. Make completely free for photographers to upload the images.
2. Review the images for Prime section and filter them to market.

Unless I see people eating expensive lunch, I am not motivated to try it.  At present, only people from 500px staff may be having some fun.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is there a new king?
« on: July 15, 2014, 13:03 »
The mystery is, The commercial production houses which do advertisements, magazines and other  image related work, are not closing down. They are still using images and they are still being supplied the fodder.  The missing piece is, who is the new supplier? I read newspapers still they have stock images and numbers have not gone down even a bit. Everything is going up for them but for the photographers and artists the market is in reverse mode. In a growing, forward and parallel economy the market grows for everyone. Now here, buyer is still getting the things he needs while seller is starving.

General Stock Discussion / Is there a new king?
« on: July 09, 2014, 08:28 »
I thought several times over the current situation across various agencies. Sales are all time low now everywhere.  The dismal state points to an interesting factor; the low earner sites are selling more images these days than top agencies.

It looks like there is a new king somewhere in the form of new best selling agency. My question is, is there an agency which we are yet to discover and is taking away all the sales which has dried across well known agencies. There must be an answer.  Are deep discounts somewhere driving the customers to polarization to various poles. May be some of us established and new artists have some reasonable answers. World still needs images and it is buying but from where?

Finally things got started again for me. The stats are moving now.  I have started getting sales being reported now.

I joined them today after reading a press review of them.
Just put this in Google and you would get the news piece.  Article which is at TechCrunch.

Picfair Raises $520K To Take On Getty With An Image Marketplace

To me, they seem copy of most photos as of now.  I do not have success story to broadcast as of now. Looking forward to see the avenues where images can be sold.

May be it is related to the issues IS had with deepmeta and testing of new changes in the beginning of June. It is sudden dip. May be some algorithm change the way clients find the files. Something affected it terribly.

iStockPhoto.com / June 2014 Sale reported?
« on: June 20, 2014, 07:50 »
I am experiencing odd and no results. For past months at IS, the downloads were ok and visible on various pages. The sales could be seen. But something happened after 31st May, I got Zero sale for June. Nothing reported for this month yet.  Am I only experiencing this or there are many people.  Is there any info.  Portfolio size 554.

Let's see how it goes. I am in favour of trying this deal. I agree with michaeldb. We have to try something to call it failure.  I learnt my lessons that examine the opinion of masses very carefully. Lets try this deal. Yes, I got this invitation with image ids. Best of Luck DT. I am with you. Go ahead.

I got one for 1st April. Waiting it to move.

Yet to see any action from PP there.  Numbers are good with IS and its PP.

123RF / Re: Falling sales
« on: May 15, 2014, 08:10 »
I have around 1150 files online on 123rf.  Sales figures are :

March : 12
April : 4
May : 6 So far.

I read somewhere, 123rf is seeking new associations and hosting many shows in Asian regions.  May be good times around corner now.

115
Seems like everything is stuck since 5/2/2014.

116
I got numbers reflecting March now. PP sale is visible there now.

123RF / Re: 16 refunds !
« on: April 11, 2014, 10:46 »
So far, things were fine with 123rf but suddenly, I see drop in sale. So far nothing for April with 1000+ images. March was ok but for this month, it is dead.

118
Directly deal with Cafepress. Let Cafepress ask this person to explain why he is selling your content. But before you do that, you must have all the proofs to establish it is your content which is being sold there and you still own copyrights.

123RF / Re: Images not getting review
« on: March 09, 2014, 09:14 »
My 30 got reviewed fast.  There are people from 123rf on this forum. Anglee is always helpful.  If you feel the time delay is too much, just send him a PM.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Photo jobs on eLance ??
« on: March 09, 2014, 09:12 »
Some of them are for custom images while others are just on-location assignments. Mainstream stock images did not get that low as to auction them in open market.

121
Rejection I get is for similar images and color changes.  I think this "commercial use" reason exists for the outdoor images such as some landscapes and other objects out in the field.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Statistics! How much did I earn????
« on: February 02, 2014, 12:28 »
On the top most bar -- you would see :

Your name (logout) | Balance: $ | Credits:  | Subscription: | Buy Images

There you would also see the balance in $ . Click on balance, you would go to sales history page there you would see what sold and when.

You have to login first to see above.

123
Seems a biased view from the buyers point of view. Most of in the list are low volume based options for sellers and Alexa page does not show much of traffic on them either.
