Congrats Jo Ann on your sale!  I haven't had anything yet, but I don't have much on there yet and I need to get uploading again - been on holiday and since then have spent my photography time sorting the images I took rather than uploading anything anywhere (as some of them are experiments in star trails/Milky Way photography, it's taking me longer than normal!).

52
Chrome just disabled all 3rd party apps that aren't in the google store.  I don't know if that's an issue for a developer, but it's disabled a couple of other extensions I use and I have no (easy) way or re-enabling them.  Definitely firefox.

53
I would if I could ever bl**dy upload.  The last 4 times I've tried, only one image has actually uploaded.  I uploaded 7 images to Crated in the time I got that one to work.

54
They like the coast maybe? ;)  Mine was of an egret feeding in shallow water https://twitter.com/SilkenPhotos/status/469632819141304320.

Yure: Crated's rep earlier in the thread suggested 15-20 images for curation (off the top of my head, certainly more than 5).

55
I had a piece selected for the opening too, no idea which one yet, have just asked Support.

Checked what sizes are sold after you upload - currently there's no way to replace an image, although it is a feature being looked into.  Some of my images start "small" at 32" x 23"...

You're in control though - don't follow anyone until that issue is fixed.  It's not like someone can trigger receiving that email to steal your images.

I must admit I don't understand the image sizing.  I often crop my verticals to 5x7 then position accordingly, but some of them have ended up with the "small" being huge sizes (eg 32" x 23").  It's something to do with how they're standardising the sizing but I don't entirely understand how it works - I read that it's to do with the aspect ratio, yet most of my 5x7 images are fine, it's just a handful that aren't.

58
Nice idea.  I'm at https://crated.com/silkenphotography.  I've looked at everyone who's posted so far, a lot of gorgeous work!

59
How does the change to subscription work if you've already paid for some agencies and the app itself?

Do you have to subscribe to continue using the app after you upgrade?

Haven't test ITPC yet but love that you've responded so quickly.

Echoing the sentiments that we'd like to know when we're rejected as well as accepted (even better if we could be given some idea as to why).

Also, if our initial 10-20 uploads are rejected, is our gallery ever considered again for curation or are we forever in the reject pile?  Again, if I know the reasons for initial rejection, I can work to improve and upload better in the future, which surely benefits both Crated and artists.

"All they've done is create yet another POD site and made it look nice"

Um, that's a major selling point, especially to buyers of VISUAL art...

Valid for SS, but IS now take anything and everything.  No more learning to be done there, which is a shame because it used to be good for that.

Ok cool.  With a port my size it's hard to know, but it's been months since I've had zero sales for that many days in a row.  Still, c'est la vie!

I have a massive 8 day gap 15-22 Feb; are they finished and I had just a weird port blackout, or are others seeing this?

Newbie Discussion / Re: Registering a business in Australia
« on: March 04, 2014, 07:46 »
I'm in Australia also.  There are some guidelines about how much you need to make before you register for an ABN, I found them when I was researching the same thing (try the ATO website) but can't remember just how much that was now except for well beyond what I currently earn, or expect to in the near future.  As you say, otherwise everyone with a camera and three sales on SS would be doing it.

If a more experienced pro photographer in Australia happens by though, I'd be interested in their thoughts though!

Everyone should ask why the under $50 recipients get a free $50, and the rest don't.  If they are going to drop the amounts by $50, it should be across the board.

Whoops, it was only a free $10 for those folks, according to latest post.

10... 50... 1... 5... ah whatever, they're only numbers, right?  Right??

And people wonder how this happened in the first place.

67
The "amounts under $50" is just not true.  They're clawing back a whopping $16.02 off me.

Quote
We have calculated the over payment amount to be $16.02. Rather than take this amount out of your royalty balance in one adjustment we have decided to schedule the removal of these funds over a 6 month period. Starting before the end of February 2014 we will begin removing $2.67. Once per month for the next six months we will recoup the balance of the over payment. You will receive a monthly notification as immediately after the funds are removed.

Over Payment Total=$16.02

Monthly Recoup Amount=$2.67

I feel for those of you with more significant amounts though  :(

I knew of the comedian long before I ever heard of the photographer.  Cue some confusion wondering if the comedian had an unusual side-line in stock photography before I noticed the slight difference in spelling!

General Stock Discussion / Re: What is your most selling image?
« on: February 02, 2014, 23:56 »
Not yet my best-seller but it and others in the same series are rapidly climbing since I uploaded them.  You're welcome to copy it:

Taken standing on my front deck.  Annoyingly (well less so that my house being flooded, but anyway) my DSLR had died two days before and was in the shop for repairs, so all I had was a G12 (and a lot else on my mind!).

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is it me or do Fridays suck ?
« on: January 12, 2014, 21:26 »
Define "Friday" (says the Australian).  My Fridays are just fine.  Sundays suck the most for me, as the rest of the world realises it's the weekend.

Unless you have some manner of bending time and space, the whole "the world is really big and we're all spread out across 24 different hours" is a perfectly valid reason for your Friday being quiet.

I'm another who was already subscribed, and probably need manually entering into the draw, sorry!  Only read the instructions after filling in the form  :o

Oh that's sad, so sorry to everyone affected by this loss.  It's never good to lose someone you love, and unspeakably hard when it's sudden with someone young.

Thoughts too to Mantis and Lisa, this is a tough time of year.

BME at IS for me, almost entirely thanks to PP.

What's actually quite gratifying is that files that have been rejected elsewhere are selling great guns on PP.  I know a lot of dross has appeared on IS since the acceptance requirements were relaxed (...completely disappeared) and I'll be the first to say that those images of mine that have been rejected on other sites aren't necessarily razor sharp or perfectly exposed, but the buyers have spoken and sometimes buyers want a certain concept or look more than they want perfection only appreciated by pixel peeping.

Not that I'll be uploading a photo of my half-eaten greasy breakfast on a dirty plate under flourescent cafe lighting any time soon! ;)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Do you enter Photo Contests?
« on: October 01, 2013, 00:49 »
It's the selling to a third party that stopped me.  I entered a newspaper one a few times (won once, top ten a bunch), and then I read the conditions more closely.  Publishing the photo for free I don't mind, but when the rights to the photo are completely transferable to absolutely anyone (and this is a paper owned by Murdoch's group so it really could go anywhere) well that's another matter.  I was a bit sad to stop, as winning or placing always made my mum really proud and happy, but it's just not worth the risk.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: [iStock] No PP sales for August 2013 (?)
« on: September 19, 2013, 19:19 »
I got a $6 PP today as well.  The original announcement states "Royalties from Getty Images 360 will be reported monthly under the Getty Images category in your stats. "  (http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=352445 - and ugh, I've just seen the new logo.  Is istock now supposed to appeal to 3 year olds?).  Livestock tells me my PP was from Thinkstock.
