General Stock Discussion / convert earnings to credits
« on: October 20, 2014, 08:37 »

Which sites have a way for you to convert your earnings to credits?

Payoneer / Payoneer-some question for users
« on: August 12, 2014, 15:06 »
I am thinking of signing up for a Payoneer account.

Is it best to do it through their site or through a supplier such as iStock?

Which has the smallest sign-up and usage fees or is it the same?

Is there anything I should watch out for?

Thanks

General Stock Discussion / how many images do "we" control
« on: May 29, 2014, 07:48 »
With all the bad deals happening and the outrage on MGS, I was wondering how much of the supplier market "we" ( readers and users of this forum) actually control.

Paypal is a great service, if you live in the US.

How do people who don't live in the US get their money into their pocket?

I am Canadian, living in Ecuador.  In order to get funds I have to transfer Paypal to my Canadian Bank, and then withdraw from an ATM here.  This involves many fees and lost money due to currency changes.

Is there somewhere online I can transfer to Western Union or some other service?

Thanks

General Stock Discussion / setting up an image "factory"
« on: April 05, 2014, 19:47 »
Hi

I have been approached by some people about setting up a photographic services company where one of several income streams would be from stock...

If you were to start a image factory from scratch what would you do?  What pitfalls would you watch out for?

The location would be in the developing world where overhead is low, and where I like to live.

If this opportunity landed at your feet, what would you do?  What are the steps you would take?

Dreamstime.com / Wordpress plug-in
« on: March 27, 2014, 11:05 »
I just noticed on the DT site that they have a wordpress plug-in for direct loading into blogs.

Is this new ( it may have been there for a long time I just didn't notice it)

Do you think this is a good idea?

General Stock Discussion / Deleting and then resubmitting
« on: March 27, 2014, 10:55 »
I am sure we all have images that, for some reason, just don't appear in searches.

What happens if we delete them, and then resubmit?  Does this hurt or help?

As well, what about rekeywording?  I have learned a bit and would like to change keywords.  Is this easy to do on some sites or is it better to delete and then resubmit.

Any thoughts on this?

I came accross this TED talk...need to digest it but some interesting ideas...

http://www.ted.com/talks/philip_evans_how_data_will_transform_business?

A couple of questions came to mind.

How will this effect Microstock...and is what we are seeing today parts of this....

Does an idea like Symbiostock really have a place in this?

Dreamstime.com / How to improve sales at Dreamstime?
« on: February 18, 2014, 13:58 »
Hi

I have been crunching the numbers and Dreamstime has become my ( very distant) third place seller after SS and IS.

Besides uploading quality images and proper keywording, is there anything that I can do to improve my sales on DT?

iStockPhoto.com / Resubmit through Deep Meta
« on: October 30, 2013, 07:47 »
I have images that were reject on iStock in the past.  Now that they are accepting almost everything, I would like to resubmit.

I use Deepmeta.  Does anyone know a easy way to resubmit the images tagged as rejected?  The FAQ says you can't do it....

General Stock Discussion / Do you buy your own mages?
« on: October 21, 2013, 07:37 »
I am just a few $ short of payout on a site.

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to "buy" one of my own images to push it past the payout point.

Do people buy their own images for any reason?

iStockPhoto.com / Release Issue easiest way to resolve?
« on: October 08, 2013, 06:45 »
I have submitted a series of about 60 images

Three ladies... all the images use the same releases.

10 or so have been accepted without any problems.  The rest have been rejected for release issues ( incomplete address, incomplete phone number).  The addresses  are from Ecuador, so they do not have things like postal codes or street numbers.  The phone numbers have a different number of digits and style than North America.

What is the easiest ( besides not bothering) to get someone at iStock to resolve this?

General - Top Sites / Why is Shutter Stock so successful.
« on: July 27, 2013, 17:50 »
Why is Shutter Stock so Successful?  They have the same, or similar images as everyone else.  Their rates are low, but not the lowest ( I don't think)

What do they do to bring in and keep image buyers happy?

Their search Engine?

Their marketing?

Symbiostock - General / Referral Link... What to use it for?
« on: July 26, 2013, 14:02 »
In the image edit there are spaces for 5 referral links.

Anybody have any ideas about what would be good to put in here?

I was thinking that I could put links to my other sites, or maybe to a sysmbiostock hub site.

I see in multiple threads that people call the places that sell licences to our images, agencies.

I think we have to realize that they are not agents for us at all.  They don't care about us or our well being ( as an agent should) all they care about is their bottom line ( which is what a store should do)

They are on-line stores and we provide them with merchandise on a consignment basis.

They are the same as Walmart, and their goals and tactics are the same.

On a couple of other threads it has been pointed out the "weakness" in not having a centrialized Regiration and common EULA.

These would be good to have.  I also understand that it isn't likely to happen.

I would like to propose alternatives.

Central Registration  would be good to have, but would be a security nightmare.  Presently registration is required to keep others from using paid for downloads.
I think the solution would be to use someone else's registration system, such as Facebook, Google, or Wordpress.org.  There are plug-ins that allow this to happen easily.  For various marketing reason I think google might be the best choice to "suggest" to potential clients.

For the EULA  I suggest we come up with 3 to 5 that most people can aggree on.  Post these on a central location.... symbiostock.com.... and use descriptive title.  Then on my site I can say I use the " Free Trade" EULA and link to that.   In the future, if implimented, this could be included in the image database per image.... which would make it searchable as well.

Symbiostock - General / Symbiostock- Critical Mass?
« on: July 09, 2013, 10:15 »
I am very surprised and excited about how the Symbiostock network has developed.  It is an amazing thing to be part of.

As of my last check there were 55 sites, and 60K images on the network.

What do you think will be the turning point, the point we reach numbers that people outside of MSG will sit up and take notice?

Will it be when we reach 150 sites?  500 sites?  and image numbers  100K?  500K?

do reviewers get paid the same weither they accept or reject an image?

The reason I ask is, I just had 3 batches rejected because of:

Unacceptable foreign language release â?? http://shutr.bz/175Xnzl

but the page this rejection links to states that my release ( iStock Spanish) is acceptable.

I have to believe the reviewer saw the release and thought " oh boy get to reject all these images without having to review them!!!!"

I just posted this project on Freelancer.com

Symbiostock is a network of Independent Stock Photographers
http://www.symbiostock.com/

Being creative people, we are good at some things ( photography) but bad at others ( marketing ourselves)

We need help in promoting our individual sites, as well as the over all network.

as an example of the type of sites...my site is:
http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/

What I would like to see is someone develop a system that individual sites are marketed, and the network marketed as well.

This would be an on-going project with payment coming through Paypal from the Individuals as you perform tasks for them ( press releases etc.) You can set the prices for what is required and asked for.

You can drop in to:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-seo-marketing/

Getting professional on-going help is something I am interested in... let's see if this get accepted and if there are any responses.

Symbiostock - General / Nudity. How to deal with it?
« on: June 19, 2013, 10:42 »
I am in the process of setting up my People site(s)
peopleimages.grsphoto.ca

I have some fine art type nudes I want to put up on the network as well.

Would the rest of the network ( you) be happier if I created another site or should I combine them with my other people images

I don't have many (<50) so I don't know if a separate site would be worth while...

What are your thoughts?

Good news/ bad News situation.

I have been trying to get into Symbiostock.com for a couple of days to download the child theme, and the site has been unreachable.

The good news is, the entire network is still up and running!  it isn't dependant on one central site.

The bad news is, we can't send people to get the theme if there isn't a place to send them.   :(

Symbiostock - Network Building / Marketer?
« on: June 14, 2013, 12:41 »
I just saw the button for Marketer on the Marketing Page of the Theme.

Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?

If it is what I think it is, I am happy but I am not sure.

I just want to confirm that Excluding sites isn't working.

The reason I ask is, I plan on putting up a "pretty girl images" site ( tasteful -pg-13 type stuff) that other photographers ( rightly) won't want showing in their search.  I don't want to put the site on-line until I know that people can exclude it first.

Symbiostock - Development Area / Where do the images live?
« on: June 09, 2013, 19:55 »
Just wondering where the image files get put?  Thinking of trying some experiments with copies of the originals.
