I have, until now, been submitting non-people or editorial images.
I submitted my first release to shutter stock and received a: "Model release is illegible" rejection.
How do I submit releases so they can be read? For my file I took an image of the release teaked it a bit in lightroom and just submitted the jpeg. What else can I do... take close ups of the signatures?

Hello I just posted a new blog post. http://glennspecht.com/wp/i-opened-my-own-stock-image-store/Please link to, reply, ping back, track back and all the other backs to the post and I will do the same... even though I don't know what most of those things mean... This is what we have to do ( I think) in order to promote the network and our sites... talk about it outside of this forum.

I just say this on the front page...before sign in....
"Download Royalty-Free stock photos, illustrations & images for as low as $398.12 / image or free"
maybe this is not the way to attract buyers?

Part of the power of Wordpress, and in the future Symbiostock is the use of plugins to add to functionality of sites.
I want this thread to just be a list of plugins you use and like. That's it. Discussions and tech support in other threads.
If you use or like the Plug..vote it up. If you don't like it or it conflicts, vote it down.

Is anybody able to create a press release about Symbiostock?
How about other marketing tools?
In order for the network to work we need to reach a critical mass.
These means photographers, but more importantly buyers.
Google image search and SEO is one of the main targets of the network, but, I think, we also have to target potential buyers who would not use image search. As well if we live by the google we can die by the google...if google decides that Symbiostock images are "bad" the they can disappear from the searches....
As an example I am thinking of sending a blurb to writers of blogs on Ecuador ( one of my Niches) announcing Symbiostock and my images. The problem is, I am a decent photographer, but not too good at word smithing.

In the latest versions of Symbiostock 2.x.x something called Datasheets are created.
When I look at them I see the meta data for images.
How are these created? What is their purpose? Can I edit these and how will they effect my site/images? How will this effect my network and SEO? If I edit a datasheet and do a reload, will my edits be lost?
My purpose in asking is I am still trying t think of an easy way to change/ translate my keywords/descriptions.

As I was "playing" with the latest version I realized I still had my test site running as well as my live site.
I deleted my test site. I suggest others do as well, while we think about it.

A lot of my images are of Ecuador, so I think my market should include Spanish Speakers.
I have been thinking about how to do this.
Spanish language site/ sub domain?
Translation Widget?
My biggest concern is keywords/ descriptions/ image searches.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?

My image processing is hanging.... just get the Image Processing Page.
When I look at the image page, there is a file with my caption data ( not sure if it is EXIF or other types), but no thumb, no image, nada.
On the Process Image page at the top it says... using GD Library.
I have made no other changes to site, just uploaded latest theme.
No problems with processing in the past.

I am a Newbie < 100 images at iStock, started in January.
My sales at iStock have been really poor ( 0 for the last 2 months) but my PP sales have been ok....7 to 10 sales a month.
Would I make a higher income is I were to opt-out of the PP and submit direct to the Partner websites?
Is there a way to see which sites have, are using, and selling the images.
One downside is, with few sales happening at iStock, I would never make pay out.
Thoughts.

LEO mentioned in another thread. "Once I'm done the little issues in front of me (search, image processing) I'll be addressing network, and along with that, I'll be making a plugin which allows huge amounts of network control and statistics. So whoever is up for the job, they will be able to make a "hub" site which not only sells images, but coordinates networks as well, and displays more convenient search results all on one site." I could be wrong ( happens regularly ) but I think Leo does not plan to have a central directory of sites. In the long term this might be the best way to go, but in the short term I think there should be a central directory. This is for SEO if nothing else. It should be relatively easy to set up a Data Base on a site... but what site? Symbiostock.com seems to be the best idea ( to me) but Leo has already said he doesn't want it. Symbiostock.net might be cool ( if it is available) but that would be stepping on Leo's toes...and after all the great work and effort he has put in it would also be very rude to do ( IMHO) I could host it ( an take all the SEO points) but I think the best place to put this data base, at least in the short term would be here... at Microstockgroup.com.... assuming Leaf doesn't have a problem with this. In the long term I can see several different hubs developing based on many different factors. Glenn

As I was thinking about the network a bad idea popped into my head.
How are we going to deal with the nasty people... for example someone who want to sell warz or porn?
How do we remove them from the network?
Even worse how do we deal with someone doing something really nasty ( child porn) How do we make it easy for the police to track them, while not effecting us?
Any thoughts?

I want a Symbiostock number In 6 months to a year when people are talking about this new great idea I want to have the bragging rights by being able to point to my ID number.... "your 12052 and I'm 23" Glenn

As near as I can tell, Symbiostock does not put alt text on the images ( at least I could find any)
In my SEO reading people say that Alt text is very important.
Is this something for future releases, or is it yet again a case I don't know what I am talking about?

I am trying to think of ways to reward people who have me on their network, and send me sales. I am wondering if a plug-in such as this http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/affiliates/ can be intergrated into my site.... and what people think of the idea. Would 5% of the sale be a good amount? Too high? Too low? Any thoughts? Glenn

Using Version 1.3.1 ( I am amazed at how quickly and well this has developed...Thanks Leo)
My "big" issue I am now dealing with is widgets on my home page.
I install the widgets in the home page section and they don't show up. If I want somthing to show up in the sidebar, I need to install it in the sidebar space, not the home page sidebar space.
I have set a static front page, but using the latest post doesn't change.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a difference between front page and home page?

I have been trying to figure out how the search works, and what I have to do to improve it. Using my site http://stockimages.glennspecht.com/wp/ I hover over the keyword tag "Snow Monkeys" and it says there are 50 tags. I click on the tag and I get no images as result, and links to 2 of the sites on my network. I put the search term "snow monkeys" in the search and I get 5 of the sites on my network, but none of my own images. If I put "monkey" in the search term I get 56 images ( which is right 50 snow monkeys + others) and 3 of my networks, but no images from them. If I drill down in my Category I find my 26 "snow monkey" images... How do we set up Categories/ Keyword/ Tags? to get the best results for our site visitors. Glenn

I have just spent 20 minutes or so looking for the information on settings you need to allow networking with your 5 sites.
What are the steps needed to make it work.

As I start to upload images I think about how many of these are "good" enough to be on my site and how many are fillers. Without a review process I might ( will likely) post images that others consider crap. If all the people on the network post there good images as well as their "also ran" images can the network ever be successful? A couple of ideas are bouncing in my brain... but it is starting to rain and I loose internet in the rain.... Glenn

I am wondering how others are dealing with Editorial images?
I have images that are not released that I want to post on my site... how do I mark them as editorial only.
I have been thinking of using an editorial watermark.
The other option would be to try and put a check book on all the images.... but I don't have the skills to do that and would likely screw up my site.

Would it be possible to have an "i agree to the terms of this license" check box during the check out process?

I have been playing with a test set-up.
Do you have to log-in to the site to select/ purchase an image?
Is there a way around this?
I want to put as few clicks in the way of purchases as possible.

I have my test images loaded on my site.
How do I set the Catagories for the images?
( new to wordpress so assume I know nothing)
As well do we need to start a FAQ?
