Ok I found out how to do it... I was missing the rollover in the left side where "edit" appears..then have to take the image into edit mode.

I have my test images loaded on my site.
How do I set the Catagories for the images?
( new to wordpress so assume I know nothing)
As well do we need to start a FAQ?

<snip> be ruthless and do away with non selling images after say a 3 month period <snip>
I liked your post but I have to ask why delete non selling images? I don't have to pay to host them? What does it cost me to have them in the agencies files? As an agency I could see the logic in this, but as a contributor I don't understand your logic. As a newbie I would like to understand. Glenn

I would really like to support the "better" sites, but I am trying to do this as a business. If the "better" sites supported me...as a small timer and newbie... I would be happy to help them. The problem is the sales I get are at the big two.
The only way I can afford to generate enough content for the "better" sites to be interested is to feed and support the big guys.

I was curious and ran this by my husband, a master electrician who teaches electrical theory at a technical college. While it sounds unlikely, he said nothing in the description of the electrical currents was impossible.
The ground wire is only there for lightening strikes and catastrophic events. It isn't part of the actual electrical circuit. If there was current going to ground, it means there was a problem with the wiring of the circuit and the dog urinating *could* conceivably complete the circuit.
Whether it's true or not (my money's on not) it is a really funny story with a great punch line so I gave a +1
As a old Telephone guy ( take that as you will) the ground was really important on Party lines ( remember those) to get the phone to ring. If there was a problem with the ground, the phone would work fine, but it would not ring. So the story is possible, and very funny.

I have around 10% editorial images in my portfolio, and normally those get uploaded along with the rest. I use the Shutterstock caption, which seems to work for all sites.
<snip> Steve
I have had problems loading editorial to iStock with the shutterstock caption.... they get rejected for all CAPS, and not having enough info. I like using Lightroom for my catalog, but don't want to have to caption for different sites. Glenn

I am really confused. Why does it take so long? Is it hand coded?

I'm full-time but I'm sure I would make a far more comfortable living if I didn't waste so much of my time reading and writing posts on places like MSG (and playing golf if I'm honest!).
This is the hardest part about any self employment....

I am a newbie. This is my 3rd month with sales, so it is part time for me. I hope to go full time in the ( distant?) future. Will I make it...

When I search for "pin-up" my some of my images appear in the second row. Is this because the site "knows" it is me (cookies)?
Haven't made any sales yet.
I have sponsored links for this page... which is how the site keeps it google ranking.

I decided to put up a few images to "test the waters" These are images that I would like to put on a RM site.... but there is a problem with the model releases. They are locked in a file cabinet 1000's of Kilometers away. I will see if I get any interest in these before I put any effort into this site. Will they sell? Time will tell http://fineartamerica.com/art/all/glenn+specht/allGlenn

I think in Microstock you do have to set production goals.
Mine is to get 200 into SS by the end of March which should mean 300 or so into 123RF.
One of my goals is to get online in SS 100 images a month, which will be tough to do as a part time, non-studio, non-people ( for now) shooter.

How is the best way to report Istock PP income on the income poll?
Do I wait for 3 or 4 weeks until the results come in?
Do I report the PP sales as the next month ( PP for jan reported in Feb?)
Even though my sales are small ( for now) I want to keep consistent.

Still trying to figure out my way in this micro-stock world.
I am going to start creating images with models and model releases.
In order to control usage I want to limit up upload location.
Is putting Exclusive images at a single site such as Fotolia a good idea?
I know I will be limiting my income potential, but "protecting" my models images, and my reputation is just as important.
Thoughts?

Have you been talking to buyers of images?
It really doesn't matter too much what sellers ( us ) want, but what do the people who will be putting money into our pockets ( hopefully) want.

Me? I know nothing, except that I wouldn't get accepted.
Why wouldn't you be accepted?

I stumbled across this thread and had to create an account and comment.
After years of working in contractual and license media production, we decided to take a spin at the "impossible" co-op policy you mention here. We address most the marketplace problems you list in this thread in our own policies at Nimia.
Nimia is made by and for producers, but the business wouldn't be possible without our team of IP, CS, and marketing ninjas. We have a rock star team here and we're working hard on tailoring our application and policies to the needs of the community. Nimia co-op, NMG, has a board of directors that is currently filled with directors, producers, technologists, a marketing director, and an IP specialist.
The Nimia application is in private beta, but we are already working with some extraordinary producers. We have the technology in place to manage still imagery, but we are focused on motion picture content at this time.
I don't want to litter this thread with all of the great benefits of Nimia and our group. If you are interested in learning more, feel free to reach out to us or browse our beta blog. We love comments, criticisms, and questions.
Cheers, Zach news.nimia.com
This is the third such idea I have heard about in the last three days. I will take a look.

The next step is to put some ideas down on "paper" This can be in google docs or a WIKI someplace. I will look into setting something up someplace. I think the work we do should be available to all for comment. I have been informed that there is at least one other group talking about doing something similar. This is GREAT! In a day or two I will be asking for volunteers to help write some documents and solve some problems. This is where we will find out if there is a true interest in finding a solution, or if we would rather just bitch about the problems. Glenn

Maybe we could just have a couple of people operating out of their bedrooms instead?
I remember a quote from my business school days... " it takes as much or more effort to run a small company as it does to run a big one" My thoughts are that to be useful this cannot be run as a "bedroom" agency but to be a player in the industry. We need to go big or don't bother.

Any kind of co-op or photographer held agency needs leadership and excellent management to make it thrive.
So - who is going to run the place??
The people at the top will make all the difference, they have to basically forgoe being photographers and focus on the business only.
Otherwise they have no chance of attracting customers.
Like any entrepreneurial endeavor - it is the entrepreneur that makes all the difference.
Great question!! I don't think it will be anyone in this initial discussion, and truthfully the first manager will be one of the most important hires for the organization.

As mentioned here by 4 different people, it has been explored before and it doesnt work. Otherwise, go ahead and set it up. OK I will look into it more....BTW I was on the board of directors of a housing co-op/ development co-op that built several million $ buildings. The biggest difficulty is finding a core group who are interested and say YES WE CAN and solve the problems... most people just say "It won't work" and go on to other things. If a co-op was a solution, it would already exist.
I like this quote... kinda like if man were meant to fly he would have wings..... Glenn
