Personally I wouldn't worry about what Ron or Dreamstime is doing. At the end of the day the way I see it is his kind of contribution is going to raise the profile of the industry and that will have some knock on benefit for everyone. Everyone's work needs to sell on its own merits and if it isn't good enough then it wont sell. As the standards raise we all need to get better or fall by the wayside.

Any time looking at his EXIF data & comparing this against the allowed standards might be more profitably spent taking pictures yourself.

As for having lots of pictures from different angles then surely this is good for the buyer - I've bought artwork myself and have always appreciated being able to get many variations on a theme to better fit whatever vision I had at the time.

 

I have dropped my camera twice onto concrete from a reasonable height. The most recent time it was attached to a brand new 18-200 Nikon VR lens. Both times it landed lens down and the UV filter whilst cracking itself, protected the lens.

My investment of about �30 in UV filters protected several hundred pounds worth of equipment and I would always buy one with a new lens. Maybe I'm just clumsy though!

Can't help on the seller but tax wise you will pay an import charge of probably around �20 duty and unless you are very lucky VAT which at the current exchange rates would be about another �43..00 ish

Still probably well worth buying from the US though if the shipping isn't too bad and you are happy seller is trustworthy.

I think that the only thing you can base your judgment on is sales not views. I'm also new to Stock having only started in December but find that Fotolia is one of the better sites for me personally. It ranks 3rd for me behind Shutterstock and Istock and I like the way you can see where your photos are going. By comparison Dreamstime is just behind Fotolia.

It still has had loads less views than most of the sites below it but as it is making more money that doesn't bother me
