Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock ... stopped uploading there

I think what's happening is that Shutterstock isn't bothering with it.  It's just running on automatic.

I'll still upload on BigStock, and other slow sites.  It's not really that much trouble if I'm uploading to other, more active sites at the same time.

If Shutterstock starts doing stupid stuff with BigStock, that will be different.  But, so far, no slimy thieves or gaping security holes.

The main problem I have with uploading on BigStock is that the uploader breaks.  Some images, after keywording and submitting, still show up as unfinished.  I just delete them, and stop uploading for the day.

Reviews are really fast, which is nice.

They're affiliates. If you look at the author names, you'll see they're code for where the images are from, and who they are by.

Please be less oblique.

What specifically are you complaining about?

If this even is a complaint...

At least they have a dmca link at the bottom of the page.

I thought they were dead.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Quality. Whaaat?
« on: December 10, 2019, 09:05 »
Anyway, why I see grass photos when I am looking for dog?
No idea.
In a clean browser, all of the first page in a search for dog ('relevant') feature a dog, as a major or minor feature, except on which is a chbby chap running along a desert road chasing a carrot.
Sorting by 'Latest Uploads' I get a lot of 'dog roses' mixed in, plus one landscape which has 'dog' in the keywords, but I don't see a dog.
Sorting by 'best selling', I see a lot of images I saw when sorting 'relevant', minus the bloke chasing the carrot, but there is a photo of an empty kennel keyworded 'dog house', 'doghouse', 'dog' and 'house'.

So on the first page of each search, I don't see photos of grass (without a dog or dogs), but if you do, maybe you have DT cookies which are giving you a different sort from me, maybe they factor searcher location into results or ???, but presumably 'dog' comes into the keywords somewhere.

This is a long standing keyword/search issue that Dreamstime has no interest whatsoever in addressing.
Any word put in the description shows up as a keyword.  Two word phrases are broken into individual words.
They don't see the problem.
Maybe if more BUYERS complained, they might do something.  However, potential buyers tend to just wander off when they get bad search results, rather than take the time to complain.

GLStock / Re: GLStock does not pay ?

You may have to get aggressive to get paid.

GLstock is apparently owned by one person, who also has a day job.

A site like what?  One that will allow you to steal stock photos?

It's marketing.  *shrug*

Legal, but not good business.  The vast majority of those are available online as free large scans.  They haven't even been edited for quality.

I thought they didn't want public domain images?

I have been trying to edit that previous post to take out istock.  I dropped them years ago.

191
123, I dropped them because sales were low and it took them forfreakingever to review new uploads.  I had to remind them every time.  Finally, even reminding them didn't work, so I told them they weren't keeping up their end of the contributor agreement, and to pay me what they owed me and delete my profile.

istock, I dropped them when they lost my trust.

Shutterstock, I dropped them when they went insane with vector upload requirements.  I was unhappy for a long time before that, but stayed out of sentiment, since they were my first stock site.

Photos taken on the space station.  Not at all suspicious.

Not that an astronaut wouldn't have a side hobby of selling stock photos, but how could they be doing the underwater photography while they're in space?

193
When I do a vector version of an older illustration, I add variations, such as a black outline or stencil version.

Here's an example.  One extra with no gradients, and a black outline version.

Teepublic is like zazzle or cafepress.   Shutterstock may well have a "shop" there.  If your correct name is on the item, that's probably what's going on.  Ask support, and in a year or so, you may have an answer.

195
As a buyer, I am happy to go to ExcitingStock for all my unusually sized artboard vectors and blurry photos of dead flowers.   They have everything I need, including out of focus ducks!

196
How to do it at 4mp ?  I don't know how with vectors ! I never had problem before uploading my work but those changes ... i don't understand.

In order to create a 4MP vector, you have to reset your artboard to a larger, non standard size.  The result will be a really heavy file, unless the vector is incredibly simple.  You'll also have something you probably can't upload anywhere else.  Essentially, Shutterstock's new idea DOES NOT WORK.

That's why I have not just disabled my portfolio, but asked to have it removed entirely.  They're too stupid to be trusted with my work.

197
I wonder if I should delete my Bigstock as well, since Shutterstock owns it?

198
Aaaand, I'm out.  I have been hot and cold about Shutterstock for some time now, and I'm finally truly fed up.

Someone in upper management had an idea, and the people who actually know how things work were unable to stop them from doing probably the stupidest thing ever in stock illustration.

topsimages only offers the watermarked preview anyone can download for free.  They also offer a link to purchase the image.  I have no problem with them.
