General - Stock Video / Re: How bad is it for the rest of you?« on: January 23, 2021, 09:11 »
I just dropped Bigstock, leaving me only five agencies for now. (one of which is Canstock, which hardly counts) I'm currently making more from POD than from microstock.
I'll keep making and uploading new work because... well... it's what I do. 78

I never feel guilty for personal creations. I just add them to my t-shirt shop and call it business. Sometimes, they sell! 79

My favorite subjects don't overlap well with what sells. Erotica and mythological creatures.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Someone Knows www.artpal.com ?« on: January 11, 2021, 10:47 »
I like them.
Uploading is easy, pay is decent, image security is good. I also like how the galleries look. You will have to do promotion of your own to get good sales, though. Their SEO is a little weak. Here's what one of my ArtPal shops looks like. https://www.artpal.com/darla 82

I do old school spot illustration with black outlines. I mostly don't use gradients, so I can make vector files that translate to the widest possible number of editing programs.
Once in a while, I'll break out into something more artistic. 83

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stupid Question?« on: January 04, 2021, 08:57 »
I stopped uploading to Bigstock when I left Shutterstock. I left Shutterstock back when whole portfolios of stolen or public domain images were appearing. (whack-a-mole accounts) I didn't want my work associated with such unscrupulous behavior.
I haven't removed my work from Bigstock, but I'm leery of what the owners might do when they are done destroying Shutterstock. 85

If you have not had an extended license sale, report the theft to Amazon.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Agencies hiding something from us?« on: December 21, 2020, 08:57 »
Are the ads for the agencies?
Also, some topics have a lot of similar footage, I've been fooled by almost identical images that weren't actually mine. But, if you see something that's certainly yours, and hasn't been sold, contact the agency about abuse. 87
Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Artist Development Fund now open for applications« on: December 15, 2020, 10:14 »
I think it's about building a portfolio with a broader representation of various demographics. Showing more than "pretty young white men and women". Since the world is not entirely populated by such people, making other options available is just good marketing, whatever anyone might think about politics or social awareness.
Unless I am misunderstanding? 88

Sue them. Be sure to add to the total for the anxiety this is causing you, and the erosion of your professional image.

Image Sleuth / Re: Shutterstock itself using an image without permission« on: December 07, 2020, 08:49 »double accounting ! They buy with subscription then they sell themselves as a single license with clients , some of the great new ideas by new CEO along with cutting the royalities. Shutterstock doesn't need to buy a license to use images that are available for sale on their site. Like all agencies, they reserve the right to this use. The point of the thread is that the image was not available for sale on Shutterstock when the ads appeared. 90
Image Sleuth / Re: Shutterstock itself using an image without permission« on: November 27, 2020, 09:09 »
That's the point. This image is not available on Shutterstock, therefore should not appear in their ads. 91

How odd... I don't sell on 123RF, either. Quote
Settlements commonly involve non-disclosure agreements. 92

General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Portfolio for Sale (copyright transfer and all accounts)« on: November 24, 2020, 09:35 »Due to many questions on the sale that we receive let us clarify that the sale is conducted by a Luxembourg registered securitisation company. Based on mandate from its investors the company has purchased portfolio of assets and now it is putting it on sale. For obvious reasons we cannot disclose certain information publicly. All details are discussed in personal correspondence after signing the NDA. The address is listed above. Thanks, I needed a laugh this morning. 95
General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Portfolio for Sale (copyright transfer and all accounts)« on: November 23, 2020, 09:39 »

If these vectors are generating so much revenue, why are they for sale? 96

iStockPhoto.com / Re: delete photo immediately« on: November 20, 2020, 09:12 »
Several sites have restrictions on deletions in their contract. They don't want to see the kind of hemorrhage iStock had a few years back, when they had a really stupid security breach, and hundreds of photographers deleted their portfolios.

New Sites - General / Re: https://www.clickasnap.com/« on: November 19, 2020, 08:27 »
The name really sets my teeth on edge. I've never liked the use of "snap" for photographs.
I looked at the "get paid" page, and what they're selling still isn't clear. They seem to be aiming at people who are completely clueless about selling stock. I found their description "we share our revenue with you" condescending. I don't want an agency's generosity, I want clearly defined royalties. 100
Dreamstime.com / Re: Would like some advice on Dreamstime. Thanks« on: November 10, 2020, 09:13 »Hi, Thank you for your reply. this is my portfolio on Dreamstime Oh. Well, with only 34 images, yeah... I understand how an illness might keep you from taking photographs. However, I notice you are able to post on this forum. You have some abilities. Perhaps you can use them in some way to expand that portfolio. You might even find a friend who wants to try selling on Dreamstime and give them your account. That would be something, at least. If they become successful, when they reach payout, they can give you your $42. |
