I'm surprised editorial is worth submitting to SS, with or without hoop-jumping.
Or is it they tend to attract POD?

I always wonder how many "air show" and "parade" images actually sell.  It sure doesn't seem like it would be worth the time to dump the cards.

Given your talent maybe not worth your time, but probably worth mine I'm afraid, got 50 DL's from a handful of shots last year (that they accepted no probs!)

not to rain on ur parade, 50 dls ... i get in a week, some isolated zero cost images, without having to go out to the airshow. and for Mr.Locke, i am sure he gets 50 dls a day.
SS is not giving you anything much, if it is 50 dl a year.
and i am sure Mr.Locke is not being vicious, nor am i. just that he is saying SS is not the place for such things, and u may be selling urself short, even if u think u lack the experience, which maybe not.

Hi sorry I think you misunderstood...maybe I wasn't very clear...... just to clarify that is 50 DL's on the few airhow shots I took last year, so thats 50 DL on those 4/5 shots only.

From my overall port I am averaging higher than your weekly figures, ...now if i could just been sean's weekly figures  ;D

Hi Drift,
I can answer that for you as I had the exact same scenario a few months back -in my case for the free seafront annual airshow in Eastbourne (sadly in the news today for other reasons :'(). Your resubmits with the note to the reviewer will almost certainly get rejected again "credentials required"! When you have calmed down (lol) drop an email to support with details of the airshow and a link to the airshow website/facebook etc to show it is a free public event.
In my case, they checked out the airshow and agreed no credentials were needed -giving me a "credentials approved" reference number to add to my third resubmit. This is just letting the reviewer know that the event is OK
to approve. I have used the same reference for further images from the Eastbourne show -without problems.
Shutterstock couldn't have been more helpful and prompt in dealing with this and told me airshows would be looked at on a case by case basis in the future.
Going forward, just email the credentials team at SS before submitting images of any other airshows so they can check it out and issue a reference number for the reviewer.
Hope that helps. Regards, David.

Many thanks for this, fired of an email and I'll see how I get on, your help is really appreciated, thank you   :)

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following:

I recently took some photo's of an "airshow" these have been accepted as editorial shots at all the sites I submit to no problem.

Shutterstock have rejected them, asking for credentials. The "airshow" I took them at is a non ticketed free event that took place on (or rather over :) ) public property with no entry or exit restrictions. I was stood on a public footpath to take my pictures (The event is organised by the local council to bring visitors into the town).

Now i could understand if I was on private property or if it was a ticketed event, but this was neither. I have resubmitted with a note to the reviewer to this effect...was this the right thing to do? Still have time to delete them if needed...am I correct in my thinking...It is no different I suppose to saying I was stood on a public pavement (sidewalk for you USA folks! :) )and these planes flew past?

OK to upload, but I can't select any categories...so can't submit?

I am not an expert with these things but surely it makes sense to test before you release?

Mine seem to be stuck on day 3, have ben since this morning?

33
I sent a ticket asking for a breakdown, the day I got the email? But no csv for me yet?

I requested payout before receiving the mail that they were taking the money out.  My balance before they took the money out was showing as .76.  I don't see any balance showing now - not negative numbers, not anything.  Weird.

I assume either they will take it out of the request I made, or I should be in negative numbers at the moment.

I did this and they made me negative,

35
Never mind found em :)

I thought I could maybe get it from my symbio site, i have found the water marked versions but not the originals?

I thought they should be in the www/home/wp-content/uploads/year/month, but there is nothing there..?

Just had this happen to me too, definitely marked two images as editorial and had them rejected due to 'In order for this to be reviewed correctly, resubmit & tag as editorial'

As a side also had a photo rejected due 'in order for this to be reviewed correctly, resubmit & tag as illustration - '...

maybe a bug in the editorial submission, it was a mixed batch?

I looked at smugmug (and 500px, zenfolio) they just seem overkil and besides I didnt like their pages..i just need a locked gallery where people can like that favourites and I can see which ones they liked.

Purchasing would be nice, option to share on FB/twitter also nice, but mainly just want a nice simple plain proofing page.

How about Coppermine ( http://coppermine-gallery.net/ ) or Zenphoto ( http://www.zenphoto.org/ )? Free, self-hosted and about on a par with Symbiostock for ease of setup. Commenting, rating, password-protected galleries.

Thanks I'll check them out! :)

They look pretty promising! Can anyone recommend  a web design service to set this up. I am not the most tech savvy and am struggling for time to do it myself

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Is there a simple of the peg solution or would anyone be willing to code this for a reasonable fee?

Basically I have a website hosted on squarespace www.shaunw.com

While they have galleries, you cannot interact with them, the zenfolio/500px/smugmug plugins all look a bit overkill and require a yearly cost (bearing in mind I am already paying for unlimited hosting on squarespace (and bluehost for my symbiostock site)!

Would it be possible to link my Squarespace site to a page hosted on blue host (away from my symbio site) with a password protected gallery where clients could rate or heart photo's? and add comments? If they could choose sizes to print and order via paypal like symbio that would be fantastic

Any ideas

I have a smugmug site too, but you need to create a separate symbiostock site since it also hosts the images.  the big advantage is you have much more control over the images -- eg, I had to do a lot of processing to get images and captions from smugmug that I could post as contact sheets on other websites.  with symbiostock it's straightforward ( http://cascoly.com/trav/horses.asp)

I can still direct people to smugmug for prints & other merchandise

Symbiostock - Suggestions / Paid Plugin Requests Here
« on: June 21, 2013, 18:27 »
What about mass-purchases and discounted collections?

http://www.clipartillustration.com/image/collection-of-white-man-character-illustrations-and-clip-art/

I need to get this going again...

Would anyone else use these?

Would you/could you make this across sites?.

Eg As a site owner you could opt in or out of the scheme (or pay to upgrade to the scheme?)

and people could buy say 75 worth of downloads for 50.00 and spend that at any participating site?

44
Thanks, I have added you as well. I am looking for for 7 more to network with

added to :)

45
It appears the preview is missing for those -- which is actually a legit error from the site. If the value is empty I should put something generic in there.

Awesome images btw! Racoon dog? http://shaunwstock.com/image/racoon-dog/ Wow, didn't know they existed!

You must have the Midas touch Leo! Sold this image last night in Istock! :)

Lol :)

46
Thats worked fine thanks Leo...:)

I can always down rez if I was desperate to have them up there, I know the pano was a large image, but I dont think the other two were tho?

47
ha ha thanks Leo, They are not displaying on the pages, I remember I deleted another large panorama as it wouldnt display. I might just delete the images then re-upload when the update come out?

thanks

49
Don't take it out of the zip :D Just upload the zip.
