Hi all,
I just got this email (pasted below) supposedly from Getty images inviting me to be a video contributor. Have anyone else got that? Is this real? Also, anyone here contributes videos there? How sales are and how do they pay? On their website i can see that the videos (RF) are selling for a good price, but nothing about contributor commission. I also hope it's not a scheme making contributor paying for uploads. Any advice/experience are much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Selling Stock Direct / Is Bluehost down again?
« on: December 31, 2013, 14:20 »

Found my images for sale on this website http://www.photostock.com.mx/ , with proper copyright credit, wondering if it's a partner site of some site i submit to. Canstock maybe? any idea?

So i found this image of mine used with Depositphoto watermark and reported to them April 15 :

 http://lifecaremedi.wordpress.com/2012/05/15/brain-section/depositphotos_5732428-human-brain-anatomy/

They replied promptly : "Thank you for contacting us! We will solve this situation in no time."

June 3, i emailed them to ask what has been done, the image is still there, here is their reply " I have contacted the website, where you found the image and we are still waiting for an answer.  Please be patient. I will contact you as soon as we have any updates."

Sept 2, nothing happened, i emailed again to ask what are they are planing to do aside from  waiting for a reply that will never come, the site owner obviously ignore them.
And here is DP answer " We are doing all we can to get the author to take down your image.
This may take some time. In any case, the image is protected by our watermark.
I would recommend you to also contact the website owner"

I dont know, what do you think? Agencies are supposed to handle this kind of things?  or is it up to us to handle? the image size is big, looks like it is a comp download so the user must have an account with DP, and they dont do anything but write a note and wait months for answer?

So, from the frustration of selling from your own site, i have quite a lot of visits with very low sale (low conversion rate). Apparently people just want free stuffs. So i am thinking, i am gonna give them free small res of my images (say 300px) with a link to my site for those who want to buy higher resolution versions, and make money from advertising instead, and also adding a "donate" button for those who feel like paying a small amount for what they have for free.
Do you guys know any platform i can build something like that easily?

I am only selling downloads, no physical goods, should i collect sale tax? What you guys are doing?

My site is new and it's first time i am using Google Analytics. I noticed that it counts number of pages view and records as  number of visitors. For example: when 1 visitor looking at 5 pages  it count as 5 visitors (all from the same location) with 1 pageview each. I see it in realtime and the next day it's exactly that reported in daily report. I dont have many visitors yet and that's why it's easy for me to see them individually in real time.  So i end up with more visitors than reality but the bounce rate is very high too, almost 100%.
Is this a normal way of counting or there is a problem with my account? i cant find answer in Google forum, there are more questions than answers over there, couldn't see how to contact customer service in google either. What is your experience with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Something wrong with records of my earning for March 2013. At the end of March, i noted it down on my spreadsheet, it's 363$ (round up or down the cents only),  today i just received through Paypal  $350.11 so i go back to check on the site,  and now it says  356.95 for March, also checked the daily and see no refund. Wrote to support and will see what they say. Maybe a bug?

I found ton of mine on this website with copyright attribute to "Essential oils book" (themselves). And i also recognized some other images from other authors at Shutterstock. Example:
http://www.severythingessential.me/HealthConcerns/WeightLossSkinConditions.html#page=page-1
I am sure some of you will find some of your pics here. This guy also published some books and possibly have your images there with their copyright name as well, there is no way to check though. I wrote to them and let see what they say.

Edit: remove the s before every to go to the site

Hi guys,
Thanks to help of members here i just made my new site with Photoshelter, it's live for about 7 days now. I know i should be patient but so far Google only index 5 pages of my site and it stopped at that for the last 3 days. Do you think it's normal that they dont index everyday and how long it took for your site to get visitor from search engine? Thanks for sharing your experience.

Selling Stock Direct / Simplest way to start your own website?
« on: February 21, 2013, 10:40 »
Hello to everyone!
This is my first post here, but i have been reading this forum for a while and i find the members here are really friendly and am really thankful for all the informative posts.
I am an illustrator with a niche subject. I also do video (travel mostly), and animation.
I have been thinking of having my own website (for selling my images only for now) for a while but i have no knowledge about web building, coding, .. the most i can do is to customize my Zazzle store! I could learn but i dont really want to spend time on that right now, and also i am not very comfortable with hiring someone to do it for me.
So i read through the forum and i guess my best bet right now is Photoshelter? They dont support vector file but i am OK with selling Jpeg as my illustrations are selling mostly in jpeg anyway. I could not find FAQ from their website. It looks like i just need to purchase a domain name and then get a package from PS? Any requirement for the system or any hosting on top of that? I am using Windows and dont plan to change anything unless it's really a must.
I would love to hear from people who have used Photoshelter here, how easy and straightforward is it, are you happy with it?
Any other suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
