Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock Selling HD Videos for $0.15 !!

Our apologies for any confusion.

Which confusion? It's perfectly clear to me. You should be apologizing for having this "experiment" in the first place!

I must also add, the answer from BS is very much anticipated. Surely, before we got the answer, we were all anxious to know, and, we all hoped for a miracle answer that would remove our doubt. Just like when someone cheats on you, you have all the evidence, but you still can not accept the truth, you just need an official answer "Sorry, i cheated on you, and will be doing so again"

I got a bunch of 0.695 subs just a couple of days ago, and 1 today for 0.4 something, my usual is 0.36. At first glance they look good as subs, until you know the real truth behind. They also (again) paid me $5 less than the amount in my account last month. They are shady at best. I am just tired of this, i dont even bother to contact them anymore as i know exactly the answer they will come up with. Stopped uploading a long time ago.

Should we post this to SS forum?

This is Shutterstock doings, not Bigstock. There is no Bigstock per se anymore. Bigstock is under Shutterstock management and is the experimental playground for Shuttestock. I dont have my account at Bigstock anymore so i dont worry about Bigstock as itself. But this definitely has strongly shaken my trust in Shutterstock. Especially now that you can only pull your port with a 90 days delay, they can do anything they want to you for at least 90 days. And, given that they are the largest source of income for most of us, they may screw us up anytime now and most of us can still do nothing about it.

Where are they getting the content from? Which video contributor would agree to those prices?

Well that 's the question isn't it. Bigstock belongs to Shutterstock. Anything prevents them from bringing the videos over? And, as the new SS contributor agreement states, our deletions wont take effect until 90 days (?) after ?

I suggest you change the name of the thread to get more attention. This is unacceptable even if it's just a test, because if they can do that test, they are obviously very comfortable with that idea of racing to the bottom, even beating DPC by miles here. What 's a nightmare!

OMG this is beyond believe! I dont have my account at BS anymore (closed it when the subs came) but i am worried that Shutterstock may just transfer all their videos there. Can they do that? Please Shuttestock confirm to us that this is not happening because otherwise I will have to start deleting my videos from Shutterstock.

I wouldn't recommend Photoshelter. The reason why they got lots of photographers with them is because what they do best and spend most effort on is to advertise themselves as a platform. Not much effort on improving functionality. I decided to go with them for my first website because i thought they have got so many people, they must be good. Oh boy i was wrong. Their functionalities are very limited, limited number of pricing profile; number of licenses, of pages; you can not name your license; you can provide your own license terms but they will be only supplementary; and because they take commission on your sales you dont have freedom of delivering your files to your clients as you need to. For over a year i had been with them, no progress was made on any of those areas, maybe they dont plan to. In their forum you can see many are unhappy with them, many have and are jumping ship, me included. I moved to photodeck and it is so much better, not only for the theme designs but also for unlimited possibilities of handling your pricing, licenses and terms, no commission, and within a year that i am with them, i have seen improvements every month.

How about Go-Pro? Anyone has experience with it? Is it supposed to have good stabilizing feature?

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Best platform for selling direct
« on: September 28, 2014, 08:56 »
I have used all of those (except ktools)  for at least a year, having 3 websites.
Photodeck beats photoshelter by miles in every aspect: design, functionality, support,.. The "community" thing never has any real effect (not for me anyway).
Now i only keep my photodeck site.

Very slow here too, likely will be the worst month of the year so far.

Symbiostock / Re: Is this project dead?
« on: August 18, 2014, 15:11 »

i realise some did not find it worth it, due 2 no sales . but the no sales has nothing 2 do with leo's making. it is ur own portfolio, if some others r selling in the same "connection" (4 lack of a better word, as i m told not 2 use "co-op" when describing symbio.)

I dont think it's the the main problem, not for me anyways. The main problem is it does not work properly, for me and some others as i can see here. The issues with Paypal was on and off for me and i dont have an idea what caused it and can never be sure if it would work the next time. It apparently works well for many people, so it should be due to the fact that i dont have enough technical knowledge to solve the problems.
But i liked the network idea, and so thought i could use it to drive traffic to my main Photodeck site. Well, after almost a year i must say the network feature does not work for me either. I had 4 websites at that time and my Symbio site had the best Alexa ranking, largest number of linking, and the only one that had 100% indexed, and yet, it has the lowest number of visits, even until now. It did not bring any traffic to me, the only thing i got from my Symbio site is spam registration, lots of it. So as much as it saddens me, i will have to take it down soon.

Just got one M size sub for $2.1. I have always been opted out of subscription, and that is the only reason why i still leave some of my footage there. So the bug still there or ...? If i get a few more of this i will just close my account.

Pond5 / Re: Do you think Pond5 is going to be a leader?
« on: August 14, 2014, 09:14 »
Seriously, they have all it takes to win - great interface, search, fresh content, recognizable brand, contributors' support. The last one may turn out to be the most important these days. Pond5 give fair 50%, allow to set your own prices and have clear distribution network.

... horrendous site design for buyers,  lousy interface for sellers, unable to stop input mechanism from converting uppercase letters to lowercase after years of requests ...

They have things to work on.

Sean, I gotta be honest, most of the time I find you a bit too harsh to people and agencies both. But, my god, this ridiculous inability to carry over capital letters is... man... you are letting them off too easy here. What *idiots*. Leaders? Please. They appear to be worse engineers than me, and I am a goddamn lawyer.

Not that they are incapable of doing that, i dont think so, rather, they have lots of other things much more important to do. Look at the footage gallery icon of contributors in SS, it's been broken since like ... years? it's not fixed still, you also think they are not capable of fixing it?

Obviously, it did not bother buyers that much, as Pond5 is indeed the leader in selling videos, Shutterstock might have caught up a little but stays behind again now, at least for me. And i have substantial numbers to be statistically significant.
As for the seller interface it may be different from other sites that we are used to, but i find it much easier to use. In fact if you submit photos with IPTC, all you need to do is to select all, set a price and send to curator, three clicks, no matter how many photos. In SS for example, you would have to copy and paste the tittle and keywords in for each image if they are different.
The rest are trivial  actually. As i mentioned many times before, no agency can be perfect, the reason why Pond5 can still afford to pay us a fair rate is because they dont have a battalion of employees to feed. We have to see the more important things and be less demanding on smaller issues.
I think Pond5 deserves most of our support. How do you think Pond5 photo sale would be able to pick up if every contributors continue to upload to agencies like DP,FT who sell the same images at very low prices? If the image collection on Pond5 is much smaller than that of other cheap-selling agencies, what kind of stunt you think Pond5 could pull to sell them at a much higher price?
If everybody just wait until Pond5 get good records of photo sale to upload their images, it not gonna happen. Pond5 is fair, and we need to be fair too.

I feel thankful i found this business. No more stupid boss, no time constraint, no stress, be on holiday for the whole month and still earning the same, and of course seeing your name sited on privileged websites and books.

Waka,
Maybe you want to try Photodeck, full functionality, perfect service,  worry-free, and it can cost you as little as 10$ a month, that is about the cost of your hosting anyways (i know mine is).

123RF / Re: New Limited Extended License?
« on: August 07, 2014, 09:47 »
Hi Sedge,

LEL is usually used for resale, just that it has a very restricted scope of usage.

Cheers,
Angel

Angel,
Could you please give an example of LEL uses? I am a little lost here, a license that allows resale and contributor earns as little as 0.12$? How restricted can it be? I personally got a few between $2 and $5. I cant imagine to give my images away at that price for the buyer even re-sell ONE copy of it. Thank you for some clarification!

Pond5 / Re: hundreds of sales today on P5/Pixmac
« on: July 29, 2014, 15:38 »
Congrats PixelBytes!
Hope there are others?
Cant possibly happen to me though as i dont have a Pixmac account  :(

u can start today,  n maybe next year u can do the same thing as PB here with ur own goodnews.
i too have taken PB's news as an impetus to upload to P5. if they have enough good contributors
the draw of a larger clientele will help all of us.

Oh i have been with Pond5 for a long time, and they get the most of my stuffs. I am very happy with them. I just never been with Pixmac and so could not have been affected by that "bug" .

Pond5 / Re: Pond5: What should we improve?
« on: July 29, 2014, 14:59 »
You guys made my day!  Thanks to you I have the best week ever in micro stock.

I want to give everyone at P5 a hug!

While I think It's great that you have gotten all this money today - the fact is they screwed up, and in actuality have owed you this money for months (as per your other thread).

While the base rate (financial bank rate) is only ~1%. About 10$ missed? Sorry i am so bad in math :)

No, It's 0.1% per year over here, so the loss is a whooping 25 cents!

@PhotoBomb : Please dont turn a good news into a bad one.

Pond5 is the fairest and nicest agency so far and they do great with videos, give them sometime with images, they have limited human resources and that's why they can still afford to pay us a fair %. They need our support more than any others current agencies, IMHO.

Again, it reads like they don't understand the question.

Hmm, the questions are extremely clear. And so are the answers. I cant see any ambiguity here.

Deposit photo has a notorious history of being shady. Fotolia actually looks like an "angel" next to it.
