Illustration - General / Re: Lightburner for vectors?
« on: February 13, 2013, 13:41 »
I'm not sure about Lightburner, but I've been using PicWorkFlow.com for over a year with all my vector uploads. It's been very easy to use, and I've had very few issues with it. If there is ever an issue, they are very quick and thorough about resolving it.

PicWorkFlow isn't free, but they aren't expensive by any means.

Illustration - General / Eight new vector agencies
« on: November 18, 2012, 20:23 »
Hello!

I saw these five new microstock agencies that accept vectors. Has anyone worked with them, or had success with any of them?

- Pocketstock.com
- Superhug.com
- Vectoriel.com
- AllYouCanStock.com
- Cliparto.com (different than ClipArtof.com)

Also, to contribute something, I have had moderate success with these three "new" agencies. They may not be new to you, but I just recently started getting success with them.
- YayMicro.com
- Stockfuel.com
- Stockfresh.com

Thanks!
Eli

@michaeldb
Thanks for those recommendations. I hadn't heard of either one yet. I will check them out. Has anyone else submitted to those sites?

@mtkang
iClipart has been OK. They were one of my "middle tier" earners during 2011, but have slowly slipped to be one of my lower earners this year. I make about the same on iClipart as I do at Graphic Leftovers and at YayMicro. One of the things I like about iClipart is that you can bulk upload lots of vectors via ftp, and they do all the keywording and uploading for me.

Hey everyone,

I am wondering if anyone is submitting their vectors to any new microstock sites? The poll results on the left are a good indication for photos, but I wish their was such a poll or list for vectors.

These are the VECTOR sites I submit to. Do you know of any other sites that accept vectors?

I checked out GraphicRiver, but it seemed like too much hassle to upload graphics. I also have thought about selling my vectors on Etsy, but that also seemed like too much work for too little of a reward.

Thanks!

Hmmm. That stinks. I wouldn't even know where to start to figure out why it is ranking my site poorly. My site is just a Wordpress blog. Do you have any suggestions as to why it is getting a poor rating?

Thanks,

Hmmm... it seems that this WOT site has some trustworthy problems itself - based upon the explanation of their ranking system I find it highly doubtful.

Haha. Thanks for your diligent detective work there, CD123. ; )

I spent a few minutes researching WOT, and like Maui said, they seem to be at best, not reliable, and at worst, a scam that preys on the uneducated. That being said, thanks for jumping in there to speak for me, Maui!

How has everyone elses' vector sales been going in 2011?

I've been really busy with life, and have neglected my blog. My last rankings were way back in January, and finally got around to doing my power rankings for August.

My vector earnings have stayed pretty constant through 2011. One site goes down, another comes up. 123rf and Deposit Photos were the good surprises, and Dreamstime and iClipart were the ones that went down the most. I posted the site rankings here.

Yes, I am. Many others are too.

We talked about it a little bit in a previous thread:
http://www.microstockgroup.com/general-stock-discussion/picworkflow-as-an-isyndica-replacement/

The service and features at PicWorkflow are about the same since the above forum thread from February.

Their support has been really quick to respond to my questions. Don't hesitate to ask them if you have any questions about their service.

Yep!   :D

That's how you do it! They usually take 1-2 weeks to process a new batch, sometimes faster.

Yep, Canstock is rising fast. They ARE doing something right!

There have actually been a lot of posts recently here on the forum, of people commenting on the increase of sales at Canstock.

If they keep it up, they could bust out of the middle tier, IMO.

For me, vector microstock is part-time. Currently, I spend about a half-hour per day on it. I've been at it for awhile though, and it is now 60% of my total income. For the first couple years that I was building my portfolio. I would spend 2-3 hours per day creating vectors. Microstock has been a life-changer for me and my family, and I'm grateful every day.

From 9-5 each day, I'm a graphic designer. I think that helps me immensely to create good stock (stock that designers need and want).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no, you cannot download your files from Shutterstock. Some other sites allow it, but most don't.

I agree with Kona 110%. However, I think they are accepting some artists, it's just that they have some very specific criteria that not all artists meet.

About a month ago, I talked with Jamie, the owner of ClipartOf, about them accepting new artists. Jamie is very passionate about taking care of her artists and only works with serious artists with a proven track record. You can read more about ClipartOfs philosophy here: http://www.clipartof.com/info/about.

Here are ClipartOf's requirements that Jaime gave me, for accepting new artists:
1. The artist must offer completely unique style and content from what we already have so we dont dilute existing contributor sales. We do not frantically add contributors like other sites do because its unnecessary.
2. Must have at least 1,000 image available to us at time of signing. All files must be vector or high quality 3d renders.
3. Must be able to accept payments via paypal.

Jaime added, The difference between us and other sites is that we have very limited spots and will not always continuously add.

ClipartOf is not for all microstock and vector artists. I was lucky enough to get my portfolio accepted, and the results have been great. If you meet their requirements, I would recommend that you try and add your vector portfolio, just like Kona recommended. If not, or if they turn you down, dont worry about it. I know that Jaime and her small staff are extremely busy, so they may not be able to answer each and every one one of your questions, or go into detail about why they turned you down. Dont take that personally. Instead, work on improving your portfolio and finding ideas and concepts that designers need.

I have worked with Jamie and ClipartOf a lot, and I know one of her primary goals is to help her artists be profitable and successful. Her guidelines are put in place to make that possible.

I tried applying to ClipArtOf, but they said they didn't need another vector artist (?) What's up with that?

Yes, its working 100% for me now, too. It took a little while for my "new" ftp login credentials to work on picWorkflow, but now it is back up and working fine there as well.

Had 4 sales there today. Woohoo!

I got the following email today from Shutterstock:

Thank you for your valuable contributions to the Shutterstock collection. We would like to invite you, as one of Shutterstocks most successful artists, to participate in a new program called the Bridge to Bigstock. Opt in now to increase your revenue and save valuable time.

As you may know, Shutterstock and Bigstock are two stock image sites owned by Shutterstock and marketed to different types of customers. Bigstock is the credit-based sister brand of Shutterstock. Many of our artists upload to both sites and achieve successful sales on both.

Heres what happens when you opt in to the Bridge to Bigstock program:

-We will copy all of your approved Shutterstock imagesincluding current and future images automatically over to Bigstock.
- All your current and future approved Shutterstock images will be for sale on both sites.

You are eligible to participate whether you have an existing Bigstock account or not. When you opt in, youll get the benefits of having your full portfolio on two sites, while only uploading to Shutterstock.

Our goal is to make the Bigstock collection larger and more diverse to meet the needs of our growing customer base.

Join the Bridge to Bigstock program to enjoy a time-saving way to present your images to more customers and grow your earnings.

As always, we appreciate your contributions to Shutterstock and were happy to answer any questions.

Best regards,
The Shutterstock Team

I already have about half of my portfolio on BigStock, but not all of it. This is mainly due to their submission process taking too long. There are multiple steps, categories, etc, and it just wasn't convenient. Sales there used to be good, but have really slowed down over the past few months for some reason.

Has anyone experienced good sales with BigStock, and would you recommend joining or not joining this new "Bridge to Bigstock" program? I am leaning towards joining it.

Thanks,
~Eli

I've seen a very small increase in sales there the past two weeks, but not much. BigStock has been decreasing slowly over the past six months for me.

General Stock Discussion / Re: 1099 Corrections?
« on: March 01, 2011, 20:46 »
Fotolia has been frustrating for me on their 1099's. Last year, they sent the 1099 late, then had to send a corrected one for some accounting error they'd made. This year, it was late, and hopefully there won't be any errors. A bit of a hassle. Most of the other ones have been OK for me though.

For vectors, I've found that ClipartOf.com is giving me good sales AND they've always provided the best service out of any of the 20 vector sites I submit to.

Luckily I'm not english so I don't understand this flame.

LOL.

My sales were up slightly from January. Almost all my files are vectors, so my results are probably different than most photographers. I made a ranking of my top selling 20 vector sites on my blog, www.graphicgravy.com. Shutterstock was my best, followed by iStock, ClipartOf, Vectorstock, and Can Stock Photo.
