Does 123rf have a free section?
A friend of mine is making a church flyer and she has an unwatermarked sm img and I was curious.

I went on the wordpress site:

"Custom design ability" $30yr
"No adds" $30yr
"Domain mapping" $13yr

Would I need to subscribe to the 1st and 3rd and blue host to get this started?

This right here is why I opt out of any "partner programs" when ever possible.

When a buyer buys a subscription they don't think to themselves, " I get these images for $.02"  they say to themselves I get access to the entire library for $xx per month/ year.  They have to really value all the images in the collection to commit to this amount.

From a business point of view subscriptions are great because you can budget cash flow.... they have a better idea of what they will receive in the following months.

BINGO! Yep that's correct, that's what I always thought it wasn't till I became a contributor that I do the math per image :)

You dont want to sell direct, and not through an agency.

Hmmmm, that leaves out basically all options, unless I am missing something.

That was my thought too :)

The site performance is a killer argument like they really don't care about the buyer experience at all.  There is probably a certain logic in using IS as a feeder for TS and Getty - I have no info on the relative size of the revenue streams but suspect this is where the money is for them.

Funny about ThinkStock.... I never made $$ there only enough to pay a few road tolls ;)

And, I about fell off my chair when I herd others did!  I've always looked at TS as stealing revenue from my istock port.

@shadysue I just sent my cousin a  referral link, I will let you know how it goes for me

Hi, Kim ~
How did it work out?
To recap, a friend took out a FAA site using my reference code and I didn't get the $5.
I wrote to them and got the reply that it was not a paid for site.
I replied to that, with a screenshot of their referral system as it was explained on their site, which at no place indicated that it had to be a paid for site.
I got no reply to that email.

I have now heard from my friend that he upgraded to a paid for site several days ago, well within the 30 days, and again the money did not 'immediately appear in my balance' as promised in my screenshotted referral scheme.

I will follow this up again. However, if their system does not work as promised in this instance, how can we know if it works properly in other areas. It's not the $5 I'm really concerned about, though that is a Principle.

Hi Sue,

My cousin has not signed up yet, I will be visiting her at the end of the mo and I will help her with it.

Thanks for your update skyfish, glad it's resolved.

I wouldn't say 20% is normal for a small site.  Several of them pay 50% and that's the only reason to use them.  Low percentage and low sales volume is a waste of time.

I agree

Who's got what, where is it, how do I know how much I made.... These answers don't come easy and is why I always opt out whenever possible.

Thanks James, you've cleared things up nicely, and it's always nice to hear from an agency.

They seem backwoods behind the times
It's an advantage for certain buyers who can't pay in advance (because of their company's accounting system) or who have accounting cycles.

I've heard that plenty of other RM agencies work the same way.

Interesting, thanks Sue
