Print on Demand Forum / Artflakes % markup issue?
« on: November 11, 2016, 06:28 »
Hey,
I have a question to those who sell prints on Artflakes.
Lately I sold a print which is set for 50% markup share for me and in the sale details it shows 20%. Also I can't find out how they calculated the price as the is not matching the 20% or 50% of the sale price.
Anyone can tell how they calculate it? Is there a markup issue on their site?

I joined them pretty long time ago when the view/ zoom of images was in acceptable small size. With no email notification from them I've accidentally found now that my work is now diplaying in huge full screen size (just click on any of your work), no watermark at all. Pictures are easy to do the print screen and use it of course.
I contacted them to ask what is going on and how can I change the image view size like it was before but they seem to not understand the case at all, and sending me some almost automatic responses that I can be one of the happy 500,000 artists here etc... completely missing the point of my contact.

So short warning info for those of you who care.

Print on Demand Forum / Crated warning
« on: December 16, 2015, 17:20 »
That's sad but needs to be said. For those of you who take care of protecting your work I hope this info will be usefull and give you an eye on the problem.

On the Crated site our images are NOT well protected and are easy to take up to 960px size (from the page code). Size large enough to make prints and use it in wide range without paying license fee.
I've found it accidentally when found my work stolen on some site (name doesn't matter now) and I contacted Crated few times about the problem. Nothing is done, the page code still gives 960px with NO watermark. All they offer is:
" you could try deleting the image and re-uploading it? This would change the URL on them and most likely remove it from their site since it's a direct linking."

Earlier I wanted to remove my image by my own with abuse report on the found site (not on Crated of course) but found it's some kind of scam or whatever you call it... The final is they only got my email address  ::) I can remove my images from here and there but I believe that's not the solution. The problem starts with the source.

And for those of you who ask on the forum if there is watermark on Crated. No, there isn't and:
"I did pass along your request regarding watermarks but I don't believe we're going to be moving forward offering those on Crated."

Crated is one of many sites I'm with and I know it's physically possible to (1) not use large 960px size in page code to be cool site and (2) protect images with watermark and have sales at the same time...

My big entreaty for those who don't care what's going on with your work - please do not comment in this thread. There are many other already started threads if it's worth to protect your work or not. Please, respect those who care what is going on with their work. Please do not fight with the rights here. This thread is made to aware people of what's going on.

Print on Demand Forum / Society6 upload problem
« on: April 02, 2015, 08:05 »
Is it only me? From time to time, around 20 files uploaded I get info This page is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. And it stays for about an hour...

Anybody finds the same problem?

Symbiostock / xx mentioned - old notification emails flood
« on: March 12, 2015, 12:26 »
Since today morning I'm flooded with emails: "Symbiostock - Community Based Plugins xxx mentioned you in an update". All of them (notif.) are from 2014 and have nothing to do with actual activity. Anybody else?

Alamy.com / series of similar images
« on: November 05, 2014, 15:03 »
Alamy doesn't want series of similar images.

Read the red: http://www.alamy.com/contributor/help/prepare-images.asp

I must say, this is iritating when I find portfolio with series of the same files. Why do people upload that?

Thread removed from that one:

I forgot to ask about one more thing. Why does Alamy accept so many similarities? Some of lots examples:

E4PN3H
DWD847
DW4C26  (watch whole gallery)

etc...

Look at "Similar stock photos", the same author.

I don't get it, what is the sense of uploading dozens, hundreds of (almost) the same images? We don't help to our clients ;) Does it matter at all?

You should review the photos more accurately
When I see this: E3FEAC RF   E3FEHN RF    E3FEHT RF    E38AYK RF     E38AYT RF       E38AYY RF
or this   E2MJWP RF     E2MK1J RF     E2MK1N RF     E36N5J RF     E36N5Y RF     E36N9G RF
I have difficulties to believe that you review the images.

This is not the correct thread for that; it'd be better to have a separate thread, in case similar situations like this one are found.

However, if I were Alamy, I'd boot this person right off the site. That's a flagrant violation of their similars policy: uploading half a dozen copies of the SAME FILE. She had been uploading only 3 each, but for some reason recently decided that wasn't enough.

I don't know why someone who is this talented would do such a thing. Here's her port on DT; it's superb:

I'm new to RB and I'm in shock - sales go like crazy! Didn't expect that  :o
In comparison with FAA I'm with them as well and sold nothing in many months.

Do you have success with RB? How is it going for you?

Thanks for any detail.

Adobe Stock / Payment after closing account
« on: July 17, 2014, 00:01 »
In this thread I wrote about waiting for my money from Fotolia few times. They replied only first messages and I get reply no more.
How did it start? I decided to close my account (with last 1 image and I guess it was around 2nd June) but there it was less than min. limit 50cr so I asked them (to make sure) if I'll be paid when closing account with <50cr. "Yes, you should get money in 1-2 weeks max".

After that I asked them again when can I expect my payment but there's only silence. Long time ago they promised to push my question to technical section and they'll be back. It's over month now and I'm still waiting for my money from FT. No contact from them at all.

So, sorry to say that but looks like Fotolia doesn't want to pay... my earned money  ::)

Stocksy / Stocksy application... was declined
« on: July 09, 2014, 01:08 »
.. how long does it usually take to get an answer?  Mine have been sitting there for a week and I don't think that's a good sign.

The wrote somewhere on their website review will take 1-2 months.

In my case it took 18 days. It's not my style really and the answer was obvious for me ;)

"Your Stocksy application was declined. Our editors felt that your images weren't what we were looking for in our collection. It was a difficult decision, but we only have room for a small group of contributors. We wish you the best in your future endeavours and we would be happy to look at your portfolio again in a few months.

Thank you for taking the time to show us your work."

Print on Demand Forum / Saatchi Art - general
« on: June 07, 2014, 03:33 »
Almost 2 weeks ago I've sent them email but never got respond so I wonder is it alive? Is there anybody who upload images to SA? Any contact, any sales, any living here?

I can see they don't read IPTC, they want all info including photo taken time, materials, H x W x D dimensions, etc.
Is it for digital images at all?

Anything about Saatchi Art?

General Stock Discussion / Pinterest
« on: May 22, 2014, 10:33 »
I've found many images with logos of micro sites... I don't use Pinterest (and never did), have no idea what it is and how it works, but I don't think it's legal usage?

http://www.pinterest.com/pin/90001692527603228/     antique oil lamp from Depositphotos (large web size!)
http://www.pinterest.com/pin/196610339955214421/   yellow phone booth from Dreamstime
http://www.pinterest.com/pin/29906784998058747/

and more like that...

 ???

This way anyone can use anything anywhere...

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Different prices?
« on: February 25, 2014, 04:46 »
I have problem with changing prices.
I set it in "symbiostock--> author options", set my own prices for every size, other than suggested. Safe it, update, and... some images are with new price, some with old...
Is it bug or I do something wrong?

General Macrostock / photographersdirect.com
« on: February 23, 2014, 03:32 »
I'm not sure if it's mid or macrostock - photographersdirect.com
They have fair pricing for RF, so I wonder is there anybody selling though this stock? I know they won't accept photographer with images in micro sites, and that's obvious (I'm thinking about leaving - tu much sales for penny, ech!). Anyone, any experience? Any sales there? Is it worth leaving microstock this days and work with fair price agencies?

CanStockPhoto.com / Partners of CanStockPhoto?
« on: February 12, 2014, 16:51 »
I wonder if there is any reason not to show Partner Program list to contributors... ?

Last days I decided to do some research where are my images selling, so I asked my top agencies about PP sites. Here is what I got from CanStockPhoto:

"We currently don't have a full list of our partners that may be shared; or the option to opt in / out of an affiliated partner."

I must say, I'm a bit confused. Didn't ever expect that answer from PRO stock agency...  ???
That's the way it is, how author, photographer loses control over images... Thank you for Partner Program and not clear stats (who, when, where, how)!  :-\

General Stock Discussion / free Paypal account?
« on: February 02, 2014, 04:53 »
Since when there is no personal account option?

I'm setting my Sys site and wanted to add new account (special or business) to my already personal, but I did it wrong and changed personal to special. I found there is no back option, so wrote email to PP. Lady said that Paypal removed personal account completely, so I cant go back.

If someone has personal old accound he maybe doesn't know there are new charges... Old personal account was free of that. We could make income from mictostocks without charge to Paypal.
Now we pay some %  + x basic charge for every income  ??? And its not a small charge  >:(

So, personal, special and business accounts are not free anymore?

Lucky, who doesn't need to do currency exchange.

iStockPhoto.com / deactivate images/ close account/ banned
« on: January 17, 2014, 11:38 »
A week ago I asked iS to deactivate all of my images from iS (almost 600 files). After 7 days with no respond I sent another email and got answer fast:
"Before we fully close your account, could you please confirm if you would like the outstanding amount of $xxx in your account sent to you via check (if so, please confirm the mailing address) or if you would like a payment sent to your paypal account (if so, please confirm the PayPal email address)?"
 ???

I asked if my earnings already include Partner Program earnings for Dec. and Jan. (which wasn't counted yet off course). Waiting for respond I tried to login and what I see? "your account has been banned"
 :o

Is it regular procedure?
Any comment? As I have no words for that  ::)

General Stock Discussion / Where are the limits?
« on: January 08, 2014, 04:32 »
New year has just started. Last year, like almost every year, we had some cuts in $ and %...
I wonder if there are any limits that 'you' will say "no way" to stock prices?
What is the lowest $ and what is the lowest % that you'll accept? Are you ready to work even harder, to give more and more photos for cheaper than today?

Example:
iS is taking 85% (15% yours) and pays even ~0,08 - 0,20$. Will you sell your work for 5% or accept 0,03$?
What if others cut to 10% or to 0,10$ for DL?
Etc...

Alamy.com / Alamy news error?
« on: December 13, 2013, 16:07 »
I uploaded batch of some news images (first time) and there is problem - Finished Uploading (17 successful / 8 failed)
Take a look...
Any ideas what is wrong with that? All files in the same folder on hard disc... All with the same IPTC... technically ok...  ???

Cameras / Lenses / Filters in Lee system
« on: November 04, 2013, 02:13 »
Anybody using filters in Lee System?
I'm going to get Lee system (holder and ND filters) for my FX (Nikon d700 with 24-70/2,8) and I already have Heliopan 77mm Slim polariser with only one thread... Is there any option that it works with Lee system? Is there any special adaptor ring or something? I believe polariser should be first and then ND filters in holder?

Thank you for help!

StockFresh / SFR sales
« on: September 25, 2013, 02:47 »
I'm with SFR since beginning of them and today there's over 700 images in my gallery. Till today I have 12 sales (!)
I shot generally nature (environment, animals, flowers), food (studio shot), objects, ect... I give as much matching keywords as I can. Other agencies give me sells every day, but not SFR.

Now here's my question - what's wrong?

If you, guys, sell your images here, tell me please:
What do you sell? What do they (SFR) want? What is the client need? People, isolated, no nature?
I like SFR for easy upload, but the sales... I'm confused  ???

Dreamstime.com / Duplicated files
« on: April 18, 2013, 04:11 »
Is it only me having doubled files in pending and unfinished?
Last days I'm uploading images and there I can see many of old images in pending and unfinished. Before uploading there was no image unfinished... Now there are images that was rejected or approved months ago... Last upload is up to three times coppied and mixed with old uploads  :o
Every of my upload is carry with caution (careful) and I upload folder by folder, after every accepted, so there is no chance to my mistake...

I wrote to DT but they only told me to delete images doubled... Well, thank you, I dream about spending next week finding every image already done in this terrible mess... This is some horror!

(Sorry for my English.)
