General Stock Discussion / Re: Fotolia search blows!!
« on: August 07, 2013, 11:25 »
post the link of your files so we can see.
Whats that got to do with the Fotolia search?

Can he not better tell us the keyword he used to see if indeed irrelevant results pop up

I suppose there aren't a ton of irrelevant files. But, enough to be irritating. I think I'll just go to work and forget about it. ;)

General Stock Discussion / Fotolia search blows!!
« on: August 07, 2013, 10:51 »
As an ammature illustrator trying to make a couple bucks on the side. I find it quite discouraging to spend a few hours on a file to find it behind over 300 mostly irrelevant, and in some cases much worse files. I understand that I'm not that great and my "ranking" is poor. But, to me the search itself seems pretty broken.

Should I be searching for better niches or something?

Illustration - General / 123rf keywords?
« on: April 12, 2013, 20:52 »
2 of my new files got rejected for invalid description/keywords. All 4 in the batch had similar keywording but, 2 were accepted. Not sure what I did wrong.

I think I'll just skip Istock even though I've heard it to be one of the biggest earners. From reading around I can assume how well they treat their contributors, and I can't figure out the stupid upload process anyway.

NVM maybe I won't  >:( I've tried like 100 times 100 different ways and it just keeps saying it's not a valid .zip file.

Ah look, a mummified topic.

Yeah, I've been reading these forums for a few days and thought maybe I'd register and stick my nose somewhere. ;) I'm going to try Istock again with these 3, wish me luck.

I kept getting rejections, and took most of a year off of trying stock. kind of practicing and doodling. Doing a tutorial or two a week. I find FT will accept most illustrations if you want a place to upload to feel like you're doing something.

I think they do still like closed paths and no stray points, buy if you check in outline mode (ctrl or cmd+y) you can find them quite easily. and for strokes I like to keep I just use object/expand.

The time off helped, I get some practice at work also. Getting a few views. No purchases yet (though as I understand ft vector sales have declined drastically, probably from all the crap they will accept).

Illustration - General / Re: Lightburner for vectors?
« on: April 11, 2013, 00:08 »
I started to try it, but not sure what ftp info I have.

Also, I finally decided to try and upload to dreamstime. since I was on there. If Lightburner won't do it I won't be posting nothing in there. That's a difficult process.
