why do you need our help quickly?
Sorry about the title. I forgot to explain the title because I needed to go to complete something.
The reason for the title is because I submitted pieces of work at a big stock site and now I am considering pulling out my work. But I need to get in contact with the company soon and make a final decision of actually pulling it out. Before submitting my work I was not aware of the option of building my own stock website. I wanted to know if this can actually come to life and work. The search engine is great but I need more info to make a decision. And I have to make the decision very soon before they upload my work.
I hope I make sense. Thanks for the replies
selling your work yourself is great, except that you don't have a boatload of customers knocking on your door.
Maybe I could do both. Just considered that now. But I needed to know if I can actually create site that can function and if I can manage it on my own. Thanks
There's ktools too
Thanks for mentioning it. I found it on google. I will look into it further. Are there any members on the board that use it?
You're right about the artist's share of the sale being so low that in most cases, it's just not workable if you're trying to make a living. The reason I'm not selling on my own site is because it takes a lot of time and a herculean effort to design and create the site, but the biggest obstacle to me is the marketing that would be required. I don't want to compete with the large, established sites. It would be like opening a convenience store and trying to compete with Wal-Mart. If I had a specialty niche, it might be different.
Because we are finding ourselves in a race to the bottom, I'm moving away from microstock / RF in favor of RM exclusive.
yes. My concern is if I can manage the site on my own site, understand the business side of things. Thanks for pointing out what else to consider.
Gilian and Microbius --Sorry again about the confusion
