Alamy.com / Re: Alamy now offers Paypal and funds transfer
« on: October 11, 2011, 23:02 »
I did further research on bank accounts and such.  I can open a USD account in my home country's bank, but it will result in a min $35 wire transfer fee for each transaction.  If I use paypal, in order to transfer usd from paypal to my home country's usd account, paypal (by law) will convert usd into my home country's currency, then my bank will convert it back to usd.  If I were to open a usd bank account (in the US), eventually I need to transfer $ back to my home bank account, which triggers the min $35 wire transfer fee.  Since the min payout is about 300 in alamy, so each payment will cost ~10%.

Sure! You all saved me.I only have a kit lens since I have had dslr only since june. How to judge and buy a good lens?

kit lens (18-55?) is fine
some people shoot with prosumer cameras and pass qc
the image links are broken so no idea why they failed
but the response sounds like some obvious blurriness on the image

I prefer the good old check method of payment because I live outside of the US.  Now I have to open a low-fee USD bank account and absorb any bank transfer fees.  Don't trust paypal enough to keep $ there.

So is using something like crushy stock the only solution to keyword and set categories before upload?

Software - General / Keywording in lightroom

I find the process keywording individual images to be very time consuming, esp when you have the repeat the same process multiple times at different sites.  I am hoping there is a way to enter all the keywords and categories inside lightroom and when the image is uploaded I don't need to do much more.  Is it possible or am I just dreaming?  I am aware tools such as crushy stock but I am hoping to keep everything in LR if possible.

Video Equipment / Sofware / Technique / steady video footage
« on: February 28, 2011, 00:24 »
Looking for a compact to way to keep footage steady in situations where a tripod is not feasible.  I have been using a monopod but it is fairly easy to shake.  Any suggestions?

Yes I meant attaching keywords to video files.  So is sending in a separate file the best approach? What is the file format called so I can look it up.

What are some of the popular tools used to keyword a clip before uploading to various stock sites such as pond5?  With photos I used LR and photomechanics.
