iStockPhoto.com / Re: I QUIT iSTOCK
« on: October 25, 2019, 07:58 »
I have also just opened a support ticket to close my account.
I have hesitated to do it for a long time, but all these refunds was the last drop.
I have received payment this month, even though is was less than $100. And it looks like my files are gone from istockphoto. That was a lot faster than I expected  :)

Just bear in mind that you will continue to get sales recorded by iStock for probably the next 6 months.

Its what happened when I closed my account in March 2017
OK. I will just have to wait and see if the same happens for me.

SS actually encourages users of the contributor app to add similar content, because every time an image reaches 5-20-50-100 downloads the app whites "Add more like this".

I wrote them and asked them to remove my images at once. And they did.

I just found a couple of my food ingredient images at https://www.pngguru.com/

There are lots of images there that look like stock images, and they are all given away for free.

Adobe Stock / Re: What's wrong with adobe may sales ?
« on: June 13, 2019, 09:17 »
My may sales were within the normal for me, but june is very bad so far.

I'm only at about 1/4 of what I usually have this time of the month, and since I have only dropped 50 places on the rank, I guess I'm not the only one with  poor sales.

Hi Mat, as a Creative Cloud user and Adobe Stock contributor this is a great offer. Is there anything we need to do to qualify once we have met the 300 submissions or $500 of earnings threshold?

Thanks
The giveaway was last year, but hopefully they will do the same this year.

I get an EL about one time for every 200 sales.

I had 41 cent RPD, and 37% of the sales gave me 10 cents or less. Very bad  :'(

more than 60 per cent for me under 20 cent....i stop uploading anything to getty stock. not even worth the time and hassle. i will collect royalty of the portfolio i had but not bother anymore...15% without big sales is not worth any  hassle.
I stopped uploading in november 2016, and deleted the best selling, which I was not willing to sell for down to 0.02 USD in commission.

I use Tapatalk to read the forum on my phone or tablet, when I'm not at the computer. But it's not a big deal for me, if it stops working.

Since my native language isn't english, my understanding of the terms might not be correct, but wouldn't the big towel in one of the pictures be "merchandise"? And according to the license rules, an "enhanced" license is required for use in merchandise.

The $1.88 royalty looks like an OD sale in the lowest tier.

There is a premier system (?like premium access, maybe?) which includes merchandise:
https://www.shutterstock.com/support/article/what-is-shutterstocks-premier-license
Like Getty's PA, it seems to be pretty difficult to find out the nitty gritty details without making a personal contact, it seems not to be in open view. Also even if someone had read the T&C before signing up, that info wouldn't have been available, and presumably many SS suppliers signed up before there was Premier.
Thanks for the explanation :-)

Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed that there are suddenly photos, that I uploaded long time ago, in the Pending queue.

At first I thought that it was a glitch, but now I have noticed that the number of rejected photos is decreasing, so it's actually photos that were once rejected, that they are reviewing again - and approving.

I have had many rejections at DP that I didn't understand, but never did anything about it, because sales are so few there. But now it seems that they realize their mistake, and approve the once rejected photos.

Hopefully they will also do something about the sales.

Shutterstock.com / Re: No sales today
« on: November 11, 2018, 07:16 »
The past few months my SS income has been very fluctuating.

July and August were better than average, which is unusual for the summermonths. Then came September that was the worst since August 2016, followed by October that was BME by a large margin. November is very calm, and it could end up like my September.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a backlog in sales reporting, so that sales that were not reported during one month or several months, sudenly gets reported in a following month.

Received the mail with code today. Thanks Adobe, it's always good to save some money  ;D

94
I'm at 494 as of august 24th. Surely that's more than $500?

At first Adobe Stock support told me I didn't meet the criteria, that I was at $494. I replied that it was 494. Then they told me to wait for the next batch of codes.

Now I'm not convinced that the automated system takes into account the difference between and $.

If you don't have 300 files approved this year then you will need to earn 500 before you qualify. Sorry for any confusion.

-Mat
In an earlier post you wrote that 1 Fotolia credit = $1 for the promotion. So it is 500 credits, and not 500?

BTW, I just passed the 300 approved files mark today.

Adobe Stock / Re: Question about your metadata workflow
« on: September 08, 2018, 02:01 »
I add title, description and keywords in Bridge. And then I copy/paste the description when submitting to Adobe/Fotolia.

BTW, Bridge keeps the keyword order that I have entered after importance, so I don't have to re-order the keywords at Adobe/Fotolia. It was a trick I read somewhere in this forum.

Thanks for the answers and thoughts about it. I had tried a search before asking, but probably didn't use the right words  :)

Conclusion must be that there is no measureable increase in income with bigger files, but in theory a buyer might skip the file, if the resolution isn't high enough.

Sharpness increases, and noise reduces due to the bigger sensor. Also because there is no aa filter on the 42MP sensor. And the pixel density will still be smaller than on my 24MP APS-C.

The FF camera will be more flexible and a different tool, but also more expensive and bigger. And I will be able to use the full capacity of my FF lenses.

I don't do stock for a living. Photography is a hobby, where I back in 2010 discovered that some of my images were sellable. So the cost of the 42PM camera will probably never be returned by increased income. But it would have been a good excuse if there was a significant increase  :D

Pricing on SS used to depend on size, but I can see that it is changed. I haven't uploaded to IS since some time in 2016, where I also deactivated my best selling images there, while I still could. So they won't get any high resolution images from me.

97
I'm considering getting a 42MP FF camera, instead of the 24MP APS-C camera I have been using till now.

With a 42MP FF camera I should be able to get sharper photos with higher resolution compared to what my 24MP APS-C can deliver. I already have a couple of sharp FF lenses.

But do higher resolution images sell better? Is it something that buyers look a lot at?

I have a bunch of Getty Connect "sales" with "Worldwide right to display and use the Metadata in connection with the Pinterest Platform and services."
License Fee USD 0.00502
Royalty Rate 0.15000
Gross Royalty in USD 0.00075.

General - Stock Video / Re: What does timelapse do to shutters
« on: September 09, 2017, 04:41 »
Some of the newer mirrorless cameras, as my Sony A6300, has a silent shutter option, where it's all electronic.
So I use the silent shutter when making timelapse.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: June statement is here
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:52 »
My june is more than doubled compared to june 2016.

And considering that I de-activated my best selling images while I still could, and stopped uploading, some time in the autumn last year, It's surprising.

When I look at the 2017 IS income till now, it's almost on par with the total IS income for 2016, so it has increased a lot, despite no new files, and the best selling de-activated. IS is now on second place for me, where it was FT last year.

That sometimes make me consider uploading to IS again, but I just won't accept royalties as low as 2 cents.
