That conversation is like talking to a robot. They just keep repeating the same stuff over and over again, ignoring the real problem. Classic  ::) I dont believe they will change something in our favour.

Dreamstime.com / Re: How to delete my account??
« on: June 28, 2014, 01:59 »
Hello, can I ask about the practical procedure of closing DT account, please? I understood that I must wait 6 months since approval of my latest file until I can disable all my files. But then, I read following in the Dreamstime FAQ:

"Once the files are disabled, nobody is able to view/access them, except for you. The files will remain in our offline database for 12 months until all liabilities (refunds, potential copyright infringements, etc) concerning them are cleared off, then they are automatically deleted. The account cannot be closed until the above requirements of the contract expire."

So after waiting for 6 months, I will disable files, send an email to DT support to close my account and then I will have to wait another 12 months until they close it? Will I be able to log in during that period? If there are some refunds, how will they take them from me? And eventually, will they notify me after that period that the account is definitely closed?

The reaction of the DT representatives here is just disappointing. I didnt have any negative experience with DT until now and maybe I would have participated in this test if things had been handled in a different way.

They basically didnt give me any other option but to opt out of all alliances because among the few images which they chose from my portfolio, there is one which is my bestselller at SS.. And I dont want to offer my bestseller for free under ANY conditions. So I had to opt out my whole port. They could have let us choose which of the files we want to put in the test but for some reason it was all or nothing. So it will be nothing then.

I got the message too. And Im by far not a "top contributor" and looking at the number of responses here Im also not one of the "few" who received the letter. Many contributors received it. So the previous two statements are not truth, I suppose some "clever mind" in the legal department came up with it, thinking that we will feel "special". This simply doesnt reflect the reality of today - contributors are no longer silent sheep who accept everything without a discussion. I think the representatives of agencies should spend more time reading the discussions going on here and elsewhere recently, about all great deals we have been experiencing. Then maybe they would realize that a straight talk would be much better than some flattering email sent only to the "few"...

I dont believe in any great deals and partnerships anymore. They are always so excited whenever they announce something new... IS, DP, FT, now even DT.. The agencies are so obssessed with great deals that they completely forgot about the protective role which they should play, as our agents. I would like to see the major agencies join forces and fight all those scumbag sites which offer our images for free. Instead the agencies only fight each other, come with with crazy new deals or start to offer our precious content for free too. I dont know where this will end, it is going downhill really fast :-/

They must have somehow forgotten in their calculations that those millions of images dont belong to them but to contributors.

BME thanks to one huge SOD but downloads are a bit down. When I dont upload new stuff, my DLs stagnate, when I upload, there is some growth. So its still "feed the beast" which works for me.

I dont have an account with Fotolia so I cant delete anything but at least I joined the petition. I think its amazing that in a short time over 1000 contributors gathered for the same cause. Some people may complain it is too few but hey, it happened just in a few days and it will continue. Contributors will be removing their images and they will stop submitting new ones. They will be replaced by others, sure, but it will be different content. Other agencies which will keep on receiving the content missing from Fotolia may benefit from that.

Lets not underestimate outselves, it takes some time to gather more contributors as we are scattered all over the world and there are language barriers. But gradually more and more people will be informed and will be making decisions. Just keep spreading the word.

No no no, I wasnt thinking that you said that.  :) I truly meant MY work is considered to be crapstock. I have been told in not so many words by several members on the SS forum.

You have been told that only by one member who also happens to be an extreme snob. His opinion doesnt matter, forget about that crapstock thing, you have great photos.
