I have no way of selling video on Symbiostock:(
Also, I haven't got the slightest clue on how to code but if there are some other people out there who can code and make it happen get in touch with me!
As footage has been our main business with the micros I'd be more than excited to be able to license video through our symbiostock site as well.

I'm starting to think more selectively about which of the other sites will get any new content too.
I'm with you klsbear. I plan to upload the majority of my new content to our symbio site and decide in the future which, if any, of the micros gets the content as well. I had originally planned to eventually put the new work up on all the micros but at the rate that the micro agencies are deteriorating (royalty and price cuts) I think I'll be pretty choosy about where the work goes. I think subs are killing this industry so once I eliminate the sub sites and sites with low ball royalty rates there aren't many options left that actually pay.

I hate visible downloads. there are many files that I will not send to pond5 because I have very bad experiences with people copying my work. especially because we can set our own prices. So I get a file that sells, then somebody copies it and just makes it a little cheaper...so please keep our business results private. The numbers have no value for the customer because we sell our files on many sites, so even a file with zero downloads on pond5 could have a 1000 sales on SS. So the only person benefitting from the numbers are those who like to copy ideas.
I agree. Having the number of downloads visible only serves to increase competition and lower prices.

I wish tasty ripe cherries were as cheap up here in the Yukon as a license for using this image.
That's funny.......and sad.

Leo, I've said it before and I'll say it again (probably several more times) I am amazed at all you have been able to accomplish in such a short period of time! You've managed to create the most positive thing for artists that this industry has seen in a long time. I thank you! In our personal dealings you've shown yourself to be more than trustworthy. Again, I thank you. Now about that break....better get started We'll be here when you're ready to get going again.

Yeah, I know you do and nobody deserves it more than you. Speaking for myself, the reason I'm so impatient about all this is because I'm massively excited about it! After many years as a full time stock photographer/videographer and all the cr*p that's run down the hill from above lately it feels good to be excited about something. Thank you for that!

You're the man! How do you figure out all this stuff?

Sound great Leo! Can I make this work now (with code you provide) until the dedicated plugin is available?

Is this the kind of thing that would allow me to access imagick on my godaddy hosting?

Just got back into town. After reading the last couple days of posts I can't tell, can I update to 2.4.9 without it causing a problem with the search?

By cooincidence I've just gotten a similar request to feature exclusive images in the same way. Would you like me to make a widget-plugin that does both? I could get it done in a day. Usual $15.
BTW - All of these plugins will be added to the premium pack
Sold! I'll take it

I'd love to have a plugin that is basically the same as the current "featured images" plugin only I'd like to be able to choose the category. That way I could show a line of images from the category symbiostock featured images and also a selection from another specific category that I've created.

Hi Tinny - On the easy tab I selected "caching on" and on the advanced tab I selected "Use PHP to serve cache files." That's all I changed. Not sure if that's correct or not. I read that you only need to change the .htaccess file if you use Mod Rewrite caching.
I'm not sure about all the other settings.

Ah, so GD Library is the culprit. The poor image quality of GD Library has been keeping me from continuing to upload images and getting to the point where I can turn on the network. Now it's also doesn't support metadata! I shake my fist at you GD Library (Not very menacing with a smiley face eh?) Thanks Leo for figuring out the problem! I'm glad it isn't effecting anyone with access to imagemagick. Your using GD Library. Imagemagick will apply the file info. Let me try to put in a little more support for GD in the download area. Generally 80% of people (I assume) should see image meta here.
Edit 3 -
Looked deeper into it -
When an image download occurs the image is dynamically resized and delivered straight to the customer. This saves you space. Applying metadata to the temporary object is not possible right now. Basically getting imagemagick support should be a HUGE priority for anyone with Symbiostock. I understand you have a hosting situation which does not make this easy, so hopefully we can find the solution with your case soon.

Emails and download processes all working great from my tests. There are two things that I've found that need to be addressed. One of them major.
Minor one first, (if you're not logged in or haven't registered yet) when you find an image you want to download and click on the size button next to the size image you want, a pop up comes up asking you to login or register. After finishing registration at this point you are taken to the customer file area but the image you wanted to buy is not in your cart because you never put it there. Kinda confusing. You have to go back and find the image again and add it to cart. I don't think you should be asked to login or register until you hit the download/add to cart button. This would put the image in your cart then the pop up asking to register or login could appear.
The second issue is bigger. I've done two test purchases of different images of ours and upon downloading the image I see that ALL metadata has been striped out. The metadata for the image is completely blank, copyright unknown, etc. Even the color space of the image isn't known anymore.
We've been dealing with agencies that have striped out our metadata for so long. We just can't do this to our own images! What are the technical issues involved?

I know that you can choose non-exclusive/exclusive during the upload process but unless I'm missing something the customer has no idea if an image is exclusive or not? I can't find any mention on the image detail page.

Hey Leo - I know that the one purchase I tried to make on my site didn't go through either. To clarify, the purchase through Paypal went fine but I never received a purchase email and was never able to download the purchased image.

For those that don't want to mess around with code, I believe Leo said that he will be removing the wordpress link in a future update.

Edit: Whoops...Leo beat me to it Are you uploading the .zip file or are you unzipping first? When uploading a plugin to wordpress you don't want to unzip it. Upload the .zip file as is and you should be good to go. Hope that helped. Hi I bought this but cant install, i get this error
Installing Plugin from uploaded file: ss-img-sitemap.php Unpacking the package
The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

Artists are only rich and famous after they die.
No need to rush that
