General - Top Sites / Re: Is DT still one of the Big 4?
« on: December 22, 2014, 04:38 »
Definitely not. 19 of 20 sales I get there are 0.35 subs.
My income from Veer was higher in the last three months

$43,30 - not too shabby for 7 sales that counted

I just got the image list and immediately opted out. Four of the eight images they wanted to use were from my ten best sellers - not only on istock but almost everywhere.

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
(that's what istock always does, though. Rarely for the better.)

I'd ask for about that amount that I probably would earn within the next two or three years with those illustrations

October looking to be BME... I'm having so many SOD's and EL's that it's not even funny!

How's your October going?

Also on track for a BME, not unusually many SODs and ELs though

I think I got about 200 online there, three times in Pick of the week, 4 sales so far (2 of them were picked ones)

Canon / Re: G1X Mark II for shooting stock
« on: October 12, 2014, 11:56 »
80 % of the shots from my G12 have been rejected for quality, while more than 80% of the shots from any DSLR I used (including 350D RebelXT) were approved (shooting RAW only with both). I guess that says something.

Is today holiday day somewhere?

National holiday here in Germany

Same issue here. It worked two days ago, though.

« on: September 22, 2014, 09:54 »
Haven't had a single sale over the weekend - hasn't happened for several years now. Usually there were 2-10 DLs even on saturdays and sundays.
Guess it's all those bloggers that downloaded on weekends but now can no longer afford istock.

Overall the decline in revenue since April continues steadily

Hasn't Lytro been around for quite a while now, or is this a new version?

It's a new version, but it still has only 4MP

« on: September 11, 2014, 02:06 »
A joke.
$10,56 - 37 sub DLs for whole August. Less than I make on an average day through the PP.
I guess they are completely through already because last sub DL is listed for the 31st of Aug.

Now up to $56 - 187 DLs. Still a joke (in terms of royalty anyway)

Down 20% in sales and revenue compared to last month, about 25% down compared to July2013.
RPD slightly below normal level ($1.31)

That said, everything is as I expected it to be after a steady downward trend for 12 months.

An almost steady decline since Oct 2013 (which was a BME)

I think a collection of exclusive images would be interesting. So that they can really target the mid stock section of stock. It is easier to justify higher prices if the content is exclusive.

I don't think Shutter needs exclusivity to justify their prices - judging from my SOD royalties, which are higher on average than those from any other agency, including Alamy. Nevertheless, I'd probably go for image exclusivity with my bestsellers, It's never gonna hapen, though.

I only upload to Veer these days if I really have absolutely nothing better to do....

So do I; the review time sometimes is very long, but my rejection rate is below 10%.
With almost 3K images there I get about 50-100 sales/month (resulting in 8-10 payouts a year).
... so, if you have quite a bunch (1000+) to upload, it may be worth spending the time.

The equation for FT is fairly simple-

Image Type
Studio=90% + Acceptance

Travel= 30% or less

That's about it. Travel imagery is usually rejected for similarity (even if there aren't similar images). Too bad I like travelling more than working at the studio.

Panthermedia.net / Re: Panthermedia Vectors?
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:18 »
I made around 50-100 /month with 2,300 files, of which 5-10 was for subscriptions. I won't miss that little cash, so I just opted out of subscription licenses as well as of extended, since they will sell "Social Media" licenses that include the right to share the images across fb, g+, twitter et al.
Bad moves from PM methinks.
I'll upload the dozen of vectors I have, though.
