I have bought lumix dmc-lx5 few weeks ago as a pocket camera and it has relatively good acceptance at micro but it's still miles behind D90. It's much more expensive than SX30 but I think that important is if there is a chance that your investment will return one fine day. I am no expert in photography, I'm "vector maker" mainly but when I take a look at sample photos from SX30 it seems that it has much more of noise - and as this camera doesn't support raw it's not that easy to remove it. But again - I am no expert.

Just saw on facebook, an Shutterstock contributor and full-time microstocker just had 700 images deleted from his portfolio that they feel were created using "simple filters."
Without terminating of his account?

As I understand it, two different guys get almost same result by pushing same button in the same software with same presets. One of them is that shameless that he complains as he thinks he is author of this "image" created in two seconds because he pushed the button first.

I thought so. But then it is really strange - then I could complain when someone uses same font on Christmas Card even if the font is free for commercial use or part of software.

Oh right, I thought that was a link to his own file on 123RF!!!
So Shutterstock sent him that link as being to the original file he's meant have ripped off? Could the OP please clear this up?
I didn't understand that either. Does it mean that that guy that has the image on 123rf is the one that complains to SS? If so I don't understand what is that filter about. Does it create photo frame as well or does it only add that noise and scratches to selected area? If it creates the film stripas as well and it would be illegal to use (which is not) - then it means as we say : Thief is screaming "Catch the Thief!" If the filter just adds that noise - then it is obvious that SS is absolutely right.

Doesn't this sentence say that it is allowed to use these filters? I'm afraid that my English is not good enough for understanding of these "slight differences"

It's on homepage: New: We've removed the "Illustration/Clip-Art" category from the Content Editor. When submitting illustrations, simply select "Yes" for "Illust./Clip-Art," then choose the 2 best content categories.

I'm afraid that reviewers decisions if vector is or is not "premium" would start more discussions than "low commercial value" internal opinion. I don't know how to recognize premium vector. And to me - splitting into number of collections of better and much better images means that site admits that they accepted many images that are not good enough.

When I was young they were telling me that Nikon produces cameras and Canon produces fax and copy machines

Hallelujah. "We have increased the upload limit to 8 files/day (56 files/week). We still expect our contributors to be highly selective when it comes to their submissions. Please avoid uploading similar....."

I think they would accept image of gunned down Bin Laden with incorrect white balance, uneven shadows and large amount of noise artifacts.

I like it. If i can see this: red (31%); background (22%); red background (8%) I presume that - "red" was used when buyer searches in "background & textures" category only - "red background" was used when buyer doesn't use categories when searching - "background" was used when buyer doesn't know what he wants to download at all and just tries to use wholly his subscription
Interesting for me is that if I take a look at few similar images with almost or absolutely identical keywords, their "Downloads for Keyword" breakdown is completely different.

Another problem is that deleting images on SS is very time-consuming. I wanted to delete my old crap but it is so slooow that I gave it up soon. No wonder that contributors won't do it even if they would like to. (But maybe there is some faster way that I do not know) I'm Dreamstime's dream I had cleaned my portfolio there myself and it is ten times faster than on SS.

Positive is that I have bought another camera - Lumix LX5 today so I can have camera with me all the time. I can't wait to try it outside. Even more positive is that my (almost) wife didn't kill me.

It seems that subscribtion plans work for me. My RPD dropped from 1 USD to 65 cents but number of downloads increased by almost 80% compared to March.

"But money isnt going to be what makes you all happy." I'll be rich if I put this sign on T-shirt at Zazzle :-)
Maybe, but you won't be happy.
I will be happy. I know it's strange but I love money. I've been always different from others :-)

They said that marketing campaigns costs were one of the reasons for commissions cut. Now - if I understand it right - our commissions had to be cut so that Fotolia is able to pay us for images that are given for free to bloggers.

They say that Nikon 24-85/2.8-4 is very good value (but still too expensive for me at the moment).

I hope it is just a bad luck but I had in two days so many subscription sales as usually in two weeks. It wouldn't be that bad if subscriptions wouldn't make about 80% of my Aprils downloads.

I'm not photographer - photos are only very few percent of my portfolio. But as I worked for years in studio with professional photographers I learned a lot. I know in theory everything I need about ISO and white balance etc. But in spite of it I don't think that my photos are good enough for iStock (at least most of them), especially for initial approval and especially for initial approval for nonexclusive. No offence - I admire your enthusiasm and passion - but to be honest I don't think that any of your images would get through this procedure. I think you should learn by mistakes and make huge number of photos and postpone your decision about iS for next year.

Veer is okay. Usually it takes 2 - 3 weeks to approve images.

Ok. I just had an image approved on April 2nd and it's being called a level 1. When does the level 0 kick in? Or was it all a joke?
At least week subscriptions are unfortunately reality.
