Shutterstock.com / Re: Wow...no sales since yersterday morning
« on: February 03, 2016, 11:04 »
I experience relatively low number of downloads. I thought those large previews were gonna bring us an overwhelming number of downloads...
Don't worry, we are gonna get more ELs soon... We are gonna be rich... Yeah!!!

I just copy my editorial files to the editorial folder in Filezilla. They always reach the correct destination :)

Shutterstock.com / Re: Opt Out of Enhanced Licenses at SS
« on: February 01, 2016, 10:43 »
Today I got a LEL in 123RF for $2.20

The "Limited" part in that EL is different for every sale - 123rf has been asked but they don't publish anything about what rights can be had for what amount of credits or $$. I don't much like the lack of transparency regarding what rights were sold.

Who knows how limited it is.... Not only SS, most of these agencies exploit their contributors >:(

« on: February 01, 2016, 09:03 »
Oh, 3 ELs from top teir with less than $18 royalties. Definitely something to worry about :(

82
I got one for $16.30. I'm in 28% tier. Even under 25 EL package, which is their cheapest as far as I know, I should get at least $19. So, I guess SS have already started to offer cheaper EL packages to some of their customers. We will soon see $5 ELs. :-(

83
Whenever I upload to shutterstock I feel like some images are getting lost in a black hole.

Using FTP? Sometimes, I'm experiencing the same.

85
It was not long before SS changed their sub package structure to steal more money from the contributors, and now this...  >:(

86
they have changed their policy for deleting images, when they announced a 100 image limit for 90 days I knew they were safeguarding themseleves for communicating bad news

Is this true?

87
I am sick of these lies and corporate BS

The only truth in that whole email is "effective January 25th 2016 the enhanced license payout will move from a fixed rate of $28 to a tiered percentage model, similar to our custom image license."

Lying has become a habit for these cooperate people.

Adobe Stock / Re: Image daily views Huge boost?!
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:11 »
So the day before yesterday I got like 0 sales.. Which doesn't happen so often.
But the strange part is, my views were multiplied by around 5 compared to normal days.
And yesterday my views were multiplied by around 10 compared to normal days.

Any others experiencing this?

You mean lots of people are doing window shopping?  ;)

1 is a parrot tulip.
3 looks like an allium
4 looks like an aster (which wouldn't normally be out at the same time, so ?)
I wouldn't like to stick my neck out about which exact cultivar!

Thanks a lot. They all were captured during same time, end of May, last year.

Anyone knows the second one?

Apparently, he understood the mistake of using same username here. He will come back in another name.

Check out this thread:

Xpiks makes things comparatively easier.

Software / Re: Xpiks - open source software for microstocker
« on: January 16, 2016, 19:55 »
Thanks for your reply. I definitely haven't fully explored all of its functionalities.

4. Regarding the number of characters, it's not displayed anywhere, but if you will exceed max number of characters, you will get a warning from Xpiks before upload.

What is the max number of characters in current settings? (In SS, it's 200)

So if you have a correct keyword and the one with error it fails to replace the one with error to the correct one because it's already there.
Yes, but it doesn't remove the wrong one. It's great if it removes the wrong one while keeping only the correct one.

One more suggestion:
- Add real-time word suggestion function (like in SS). While typing a keyword, the program should be able to suggest list of possible words and a user should be able to pick one from that. (please check the attachment)

Xpiks is already really good. I hope my suggestions will help make Xpiks even better. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for sharing this software with us. Really a useful tool.

Some bugs(?)
- Cannot always detect spelling errors in keyword list. Probably it happens when a set a keywords are copied from one image to another (not sure).
- Replace option in spelling correction tool doesn't work properly for keyword list. I had a correct spelling keyword (First I didn't notice that correct one is there) and wrong one in the list. I selected to replace wrong one with the correct one select from suggestion list. However, it didn't remove the wrong one from the list.

Some suggestions:
- Display some of the image details below the thumbnail, such as the date taken. Those data are useful when editing editorial images
- Enable full preview option of images (or an option to open the original file from the disk.). This is useful when we need to seem more detailed view of images.
- Enable bulk edit of the images (select multiple images and edit them at once).
- Show the number of characters in the title (Some agencies, such as SS, has limitations on that. Therefore, it's useful to know the number of characters.)

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Canon 6D vs Sony a7 mk II
« on: December 17, 2015, 12:28 »

There is no such thing as "best"

My main concern is low light performances. One should be better than other, that's the best out of those two. I don't know which one. But some people might have experienced both of those cameras.

I'm thinking of buying a new camera. Do you have any experiences with Canon 6D and Sony a7 mk II?
What is the best low light performer?
What is the best overall camera?

I usually don't feel changes in the weekend :)

That's very strange.

Shutterstock.com / Re: 723,027 new images added this week!
« on: December 09, 2015, 19:56 »
Do you have any stats showing number of sales SS make in a week?

If you look at their Third Quarter investor presentation, they say they had 38.1 million paid downloads. If you assume that's over 13 weeks, that gives you 2,930,769 downloads a week (average; obviously given weeks can vary a lot from that).

The same presentation says their revenue per download is $2.76 which would mean $8.28m per week for those paid downloads.
Thanks for replying. Those are some really big numbers. Unbelievable!

My income per download is ~$0.55. That's why I stay poor and SS keeps getting rich. ::)
