I just opted out of that thing. God knows I need money more than ever now. However, it sounds like the consequences are bad for all of us in the long-term. I want to keep doing microstock work for the long-termand not hurt myself or others in the future for short-term gain.

Thanks for keeping the momentum going !

Does anyone have any explanation as to why DT seems to have a large number of views as compared to DLs ? Just curious.

Ok, I wasnt aware of this, and I just tested it. I logged out and check the FT thread where Mat announced the new royalties on Fotolia.

As it turns out, as explained by Baldrick, the comment is hidden and cant be read. That is a very bad thing indeed. And that needs to be fixed as it completely defeats the purpose of an open debate. Anyone can now hide a comment if they group together. There is a mob running against FT and DPC, but ALL COMMENTS need to be visible. Moderation and censorship only on less popular stand points is a very bad thing on a forum so important for contributors. This place is basically the only place where we can speak up and speak openly. Thats the power of this forum, and it should stay like that.

Ron - I agree that all posts must be visible irrespective of their net vote count. But, as things stand now, though Mat's post is hidden, there is an option next to it "Show hidden post" and if I click on it, I can see it. I tried to check in my profile for any settings, but could not locate any that would directly correlate to hidden posts. I logged out of MSG and tried again. It still works. Perhaps, Leaf can tell what settings provide the option to "show hidden posts".
Could I ask you log out, refresh the page and post a screenshot of what you see please, because when I log out there is no option to show the comment.

Oh ! I read a bit too much. I realised that you had logged out but NOT logged in again. Sooo sorry. If I logout and open the thread (like a visitor to MSG who is not logged on), Mat's post is hidden and there is NO option. You are correct !  ;D

I was only with Shutterstock since July 2013. I work hard and I am already on the 0.33 club. I think I will be in the .38 club by July 2014.
...

Sometimes I read that it is impossible to earn a good amount starting now in the microstock industry. They say it is too late. Well, I know it is not true. And I think that if we all opt out from DPC, the future is still good. Don't be fooled by the apocalypse theory, don't let them be successful on making this business a short term thing. Don't prostitute yourself for 5%.
...

Very nice to hear what you have said above !

:) I am at the .36 club, I edited my post. I wrote it bad.

I can only admire your hardwork and your results :)

A humble request to let this thread stay on FT and DPC.

As for suggestions on up votes and down votes, please use this thread: http://www.microstockgroup.com/site-related/disappearing-posts/msg379375/?topicseen#new

Agreed. But, the simplest thing to do first perhaps may be to let posts remain visible even if they gather a net -10 votes. This will ensure that posts dont get missed eventhough a higher number of people may disagree with the poster.

... ft should call off dpc - no so called improvements can improve something completely wrong like  dpc ...

....then... they have to admit that they tried something deeply wrong - this way... they can show some real strength... for the first time...

Yes. The first step towards any improvement is to "admit that there is a problem". In this case DPC or the way it is currently structured is a problem. Admitting to it and doing something about it will certain help FT earn respect from me personally.

If at all someone asks for an image to use for free, I will take the decision weighing in a lot of factors. Since it is my effort, I get to decide that.

But, when an agency decides to allow free usage of my work without my consent, it sure is wrong irrespective of the legal position.

2. what i'm still trying to convince people is please check the background of "leaders" of this "boycott". don't be manipulated by WAREZ people. make your own business decisions. don't be a "herd" for those who wants to be sheppards now.

Since this thread is about the FT boycott with respect to DPC, is there something that you wanted to tell us regarding that ? I am not able to clearly understand the few posts that you have made today. Could you please elaborate on that ?

lets all play this game then, search for "business man" and post your results

Exact same images in the same order.

Thanks Luis ! Perhaps, I misunderstood the instructions. I will try again.

Thanks Luis ! I was able to see my uploaded jpg after quite some time. There seems to be some outdated upload instructions that confused me. All is well that ends well :)

Should the portfolio size be the one at the end of Mar-2014 or an average of the three months ?

I am new to PhotoDune. I am approved and trying to upload a few images. It appears that other than the full-sized jpg image, I need to create and upload the image thumbnail as well as the image preview files too. Is this correct ?

no, you don't need to upload anything else beside the full JPG

Will PhotoDune take care of adding the watermark ? Thanks for any response on this.

of course!

Dirkr - You are correct. I dont remember seeing this earlier. I had asked (via DP support) to get me off of all partner sites. I see this new check box today and it is already checked for me (Disable partner sales)

Would be interesting to hear from someone who has not opted out of DP partner sales to know what they see in the check box (Checked or Un-Checked).

169
We are talking about this from very first day of this thread.
Check this thread.

I know this thread. I've been in there from page 1.
But I have never before seen the option to opt out from partner sales on their website. I sent them an e-mail to get out of those deals, I am sure at that time that check box in my profile did not exist yet - at least I can't remember ever seeing it. That's why I am asking.

My files are still visible at DPC after opting out but if you click to open up, nothing happens - or it reverts to the previously opened image.

This is what happened to me for the first 3-4 days. Post that, it did not come up in the search at all.

Hah. I wont believe on the land lord of a colony where i once bought a home. I did everything to improve our colony and residence for years and then came to know that the land lord sold the colony to a gang of goons, who started spoiling the colony, my neighborhood and my house. The colony has become a place of bad people and their wrong illegal deeds. I spent all my money i secured whole life, to buy this house. I spent so much of time to improve it. All worthless. Colony is not worth living for my family.
Now i heard that the same old landlord has created a new colony and selling buildings with much facilities, Will i buy my new home from his new colony ? NEVER.
This was just an example what i feel about istock and Bruce's new stocksy.  Bruce has not started new agency for the sake of photographers. He created this because simply he wants to make millions again and so he wants create another successful agency to sell it again in future.
Now you will ask then why he is giving 50% commission, 100% of ELs etc etc, because if he started an agency with same price, same 20-25% commission, who would have joined him. And if no one joins, how will he get images. No image, no sell, no profit.
There are many istock exclusives who are unable to leave IS despite their bitterness with the IS/Getty because they have already spent so much time, effort to build their portfolio there. Take the note now that sooner or later, same cycle will continue with stocksy and its contributors what happened or happening with Istock.
Now you can start giving me negatives.

I am not going to give you a negative and I am not a soothsayer anyway and you certainly are entitled to your point of view :)

This is my take on Stocksy. I am happy to see that Stocksy contributors are doing well. I have seen a few report their earnings above SS. I am happy to see an agency richly reward its contributors. Will Bruce repeat what he apparently did in IS ? I dont know. But even if he does, contributors would still have a good amount of earnings in the years that he may continue in the current way.

To be a part of Stocksy would be my dream. It will require a lot of work and perhaps a lot of luck :-) It will be good if my dream comes true !

Greed will continue to play a part in all industries including stock. I have learnt to appreciate the few people or the few years a few people will control their greed for the betterment of others.

FT may bring about changes (for the betterment of us contributors) to DPC only if the number of images in DPC drop below a threshold that they would have already calculated. Based on the fact that they offered a concealed OPT-OUT, I think that they have NOT counted on all 28 million FT images to be in DPC. Our only hope is to gently request fellow contributors to consider Opting-Out of DPC (thereby reducing the image count of DPC) until elements of DPC are changed for the better (for contributors).

Check Your files on Shotshop, API  and program sites, my photos are there again.
And, of course, no replies on three mails.

How is with complete portfolio deactivation?
I think, that this fraud agency will keep sell despite deleting files.

I checked in shotshop. The thumbnails of some of my images do appear. But when I click on them, the text "Image temporarily not available. Please try later" appears instead of the image in a new window.

It had over 100 views, don't remember the exact number.

Just deleted a photo with no sales in 4 years at DT. I don't mind cleaning up photos with little sales potential, but this photo has sold 67 times on another site.
0 sales at DT vs 67 sales elsewhere makes no sense, think it must do with lack of marketing at DT.

Just curious as to how many views had reportedly happened on this image as per DT. (I dont have any explanation when images get viewed in the hundreds with no DLs in DT!)

Thanks Ravens !
