I assume that you are using something different than the standard "Featured Images" widget.

The images on all three of my widgets (Featured, Latest, and Similar) are all the same size.

Actually no. Or not that I know of.

Are you using any additional plugins?

The thumbnails on your homepage (under Featured Images) are smaller than the thumbnails on the image page (under Similar Images).  It is possible that the reduction in size has sharpened them slightly.

I am just thankful that Leo, Ajt and Plrang are giving up their time to create this great theme and various additions free for everyone and only asking for donations rather than cash up front  ;D

True dat!

If you find any of my images useful, I would happy to offer them as well.

231
Yes, it has been reported before, but I'm not sure where the thread is at.

232
I can see your sliders as well. Do you see mine? http://franky242.net/shop/

I can see your slider.

I believe she meant "custom css".

My upgrade finally took now...

What are you upgrading?

I just wrote Leo Blanchette a PM to let him know about this opportunity.  He is the main wizard behind the veil.

236
the 10th one includes everyone's images from within Ajt's global search so your images show up on my site even without the direct network member link

Please share how you did this.

I installed Google Analytics as a WP plugin just to have a nice source of info every time I work on my site without having to log into my web host's control panel. Through my SEO plugin, the required code from Google is injected into every site.

I'm getting severely confused about the accuracy of traffic reporting.

For example Google reported 19 visits yesterday while my web host showed 198 - over 10 times more than Google.

Is normal? If so, why do we or anyone who runs a web site online even worry about SEO if we get data that varies so much?

I'm not an expert at this, but I think that it all depends on how you define a "visit".

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: PNG/JPEG format
« on: August 08, 2013, 07:42 »
Is there a way to add a png format to an image thats already uploaded?

Don't know.  I have this on my list to take a look at, but it will probably be a while before I can get to it.

Can you upload both formats at the same time? so the customer can choose betwen jpeg and png?

Yes, I just tried this with one of my images.  You can see it here:

Symbiostock - SEO & Marketing / Re: what is keyword spam?
« on: August 08, 2013, 07:22 »
I consider keyword spamming when someone adds popular, irrelevant terms to their image. Like when i do a search for a horse and get pictures of women with a headset.

Yes, but she might be talking to a horse  ;D

I took the bgnoise.png file into photoshop and just painted over it with a white brush.  Since I couldn't seen the speckles because of this monitor, I can't tell if it worked or not.

IMO, it would be much better if you just created a new style.css file and added the following:

body{
   background-image: url('');
   }

Modifying the image means that the customer has to download it on every page, which will increase the amount of data that they need to download to their browser which will slightly decrease performance.  You want to make your website as lightweight and fast as possible.

Duplicate post...

Try editing one of his eye images and change the date to sometime tomorrow.  See if that will make it show up in the Latest Images.

No luck there either.

Please provide the link for the image that you changed?

243
There's "royalty free" hard coded in files

archive-image.php

and

Inc\Classes\network-manager\interpreter.php

You can edit it like I did for my site or just wait for Leo. I believe he is onto it for the next version of the theme.

There are also references in:
wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/symbiostock_image_processor.php

But that change will only affect new images that are uploaded.  In order to change the currently uploaded images, you will also need to execute a few database queries.

244
How did you increase the number of images displaying on searches?  Did you use the plugin that Leo made or did you do it some other way?

...

I liked the addition of the "this image is protected by copyright..."  I think I may add something like that.

Shazam, I also think your site looks just great, and I'd also like to incorporate those two things snipped from Cracker Clips' post.

Please do tell us how you increased the number of images per page. I'd really like to do that.

As I stated above, I modified the Symbiostock code.  If anyone is interested, I could provide the code change required.

Great great looking website.

Thanks for the wonderful comment.  That means a lot coming from someone with your experience.

I'd drop the "under construction" notice though.

Done.  As I stated above, I was thinking about using the message bar for sales events or other newsworthy items.  Do you think that is a good idea?  Or should I just drop the message bar entirely?

Mostly I have only good stuff to say - its extremely basic, easy to navigate. I'm actually impressed with just how useful the simplicity can be.

Someone on the Symbiostock message boards mentioned that a stock image website should let the images sell themselves.  I agree, and therefore try to keep things as simple as possible.

246
I have to add that the mouseover icons below vertical or square images with that exclusive banner on top show up mixed with content below (Firefox/Windows 7).

Thanks.  I never would have never noticed that.  I will see if I can fix that.

Good site, great images. Would network with you but my 10 slots are filled  :(

Thanks for the wonderful comment.  If you ever have any of your network slots free up, I would be honored if you would consider my website at that time.

247
I don't think you need the colorful bar across the top with the under construction message.  Just my opinion but I think it is distracting and the homepage would look much cleaner without it.  As you said, the site will always be under construction behind the scenes and it looks great now and seems to function well.  No need to apologize for the appearance.

Thanks.  I will remove the bar for now.  I was thinking about using the bar in the future for messages about sales events or other newsworthy items.  Do you think that would be alright?  Or do you think that the message bar is just ugly?

In your footer, on the right hand side you could/should add some links to outside authority sites.  It could even be links to your twitter, facebook etc. profiles. I would also add in the footer section somewhere a link to a privacy policy statement.  It's unlikely anyone will click on any of your footer links but these will give your site legitimacy in the eyes of google and help your seo.

Good idea.  As I stated, I haven't finished the website yet.  I was planning to add something to the right-side of the footer section, to balance it out, but I hadn't come up with anything concrete yet.

I already have a privacy policy on my To Do list (along with a whole bunch of other stuff).

How did you increase the number of images displaying on searches?  Did you use the plugin that Leo made or did you do it some other way?

I modified the code to make the changes.  I have been in the IT industry for almost a few decades.  I have never worked with PHP and didn't have much knowledge of WordPress or CSS, but I decided to tackle it.  It has been a struggle for me, since I haven't done any real programming in about 10 years, but it is starting to come back to me little by little.

One of the hurdles with the Symbiostock code is that it is object-oriented.  That makes development a little easier, but harder on someone that is trying to reverse engineer it.

Are you planning to add your own watermark?  How about a picture or logo for your symbiostock icon?

Yes, those are on the list.

Thanks for taking the time out of your day to take a look at my website and give me some feedback.

It is much appreciated.

No one can explain why items with Royalty Free Content are showing in his search? Or why a minipic seems to have its own page that can be commented on?

If I remember correctly, all of the mini-pics are given a name that begins with "Royalty Free Content".  You can see this if you go to WP Admin and then click on Media.

According to my notes, this code is in
wp-content/themes/symbiostock/inc/classes/symbiostock_image_processor.php

I'm not on a computer that has the code on it at the moment, so please forgive me if my memory is failing me.

I didn't want the search engines to associate my website with that terminology, so I changed the code so that it would say "Stock Image".  But that change will only affect new images that you add to the database from that point forward.  It won't change the images that you have already uploaded.  So I also had to run a few database queries to change those as well.

I'm not sure how to turn off comments on the mini-pic though.  There must be a setting somewhere in WP for that.

Shazam posted this:

I took a look at your website and didn't see anywhere to add a comment.  So I then did a Google search and found this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Acathyslifestockphotos.com+comment&oq=site%3Acathyslifestockphotos.com+comment&aqs=chrome.0.69i57j69i58.2844j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

His link above shows all my titles with Royalty Free Content in them. When I do the same search of site:cathyslifestockphotos.com, everything in my search is showing correctly.

If you notice I am doing a search on "site:cathyslifestockphotos.com comment" (which says to search for the word comment on your website).

Without the word "comment", I also get a different search result.

But that begs the question: How did that text get in there in the first place?
