When I look at my php.ini file, I see it is 1940 lines long...

Wow!

My php.ini is only 39 lines long.  I can't imagine what you have in that file.

I would not appreciate anything that can alter the keywords on my images without my say-so.

I dont want my keywords changed without my permission, but i am always open to suggestions.

I also would not want to have the keywords on my images altered without my approval (or have my images show up at the back of the search as a result).  I don't mind if someone wants to notify me of a keyword that they think could be incorrect, but I should have the final say as to what keywords are on my images.

As I stated in another thread, there are plenty of keywords that might seem inappropriate because complex searches don't work at this time (on the base version).  So an artist that wants to let the buyer know that there is "copy space" in the image, currently has to break the phrase up into two words: "copy" and "space".  So when a buyer now wants to search on "space" (to find images related to astronomy), they end up with all sorts of other images.

In addition, I was doing searches on the major players the other day and they ALL had images that were keyworded incorrectly.  I was surprised by how many images showed up on the first few pages that seemed to be totally off in respect to their keywords.  If the major players can't fix the keywording issue (with the billions of dollars that they are making), then there is little chance that small mom-and-pop outfits will be able to come up with a solution.

Having a voting system will only end up with sites forming groups and attacking others so that their images will get to the front of the search and push others to the back.  I've seen it done before time and again.

BTW - did I ever say your graphics are AWESOME? :D
also, not to turn this into a mutual compliments thread but your work is awesome too.. :D

Let's turn this into a love fest!

I think that both of your works are awesome.  ;D

Do I submit Yoast's main sitemap XML URL or is it recommended to submit each of Yoast's individual sitemap URLs to Bing?

I submit them all.

80
Yoast auto submits for you. I have looked for a place to resubmit sitemaps, but havent found one. If there is a way, let me know if you find one.

I don't believe that Yoast auto submits.  My understanding is that you need to go to Google (or Bing) Web Master Tools and then submit the site maps there.

Where does one find those directories??? I have no clue where to find them

They will be on your host.  Usually they are in your web root directory.  My web root (on GoDaddy) is called html, but your might be different.  You would need to use software, such as PuTTY, to connect to the server.  The best thing to do would be to zip up the files (so the download will be much smaller) and then download them to another server.  I download them to my local computer using FileZilla.

Where does one put them so they'll be backed up??? I have no clue about that either.

You can put them anywhere you like.  I put them in a directory (which I created) called file_backups.

The following directories need to be backed up:

<web root> - This directory will contain Symbiostock source code, php.ini, files from Google and Bing for their WebMaster tools, robots.txt, etc.  The name of this directory will vary depending upon the host.  On GoDaddy, it is called html in my setup.

/<web root>/symbiostock_ipn - This directory contains Symbiostock source code for PayPal IPN.

/<web root>/symbiostock_network - This directory contains Symbiostock CSV files from other Symbiostock websites (including the ones that you put in your network).

/<web root>/symbiostock_rf - This directory contains all of your (renamed) original files.

/<web root>/wp_admin - This directory contains php source code.

/<web root>/wp_content - This is the main directory and contains Symbiostock source code, WordPress & Symbiostock themes, WordPress & Symbiostock plugins, etc.

/<web root>/wp_includes - This directory contains php source code.

You also need to take a backup of your MySQL database and include that in your backup.

If you backup everything from <web root> down, then you can probably exclude any directory that isn't on the list above (such as the symbiostock_xml_cache directory).

I'm usually working with Firefox. Now I just checked my site on other Browser. Everything is fine on Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome. But not on Internet Explorer. The fonts in footer and sidebar are way to big and the whole design gets crashed ... strange enough only on the homepage. On the single image pages, FAQ, About, etc. everything looks like it should. Does anyone know how to fix that?

On IE 9 it looks fine.  Which version are you using?

There is really nothing we can do to stop this.

You can add a CAPTCHA field to the registration page either by changing the source code or using a plugin.

85
I will try one more thing and open a paypal business account...

What type of PayPal account did you have?

86
I'm uploading via FTP...

What directory are you uploading to?

Is Symbiostock using GD library or ImageMagick (you can see this at the top of the Process Uploads page)?

87
Or maybe there are somewhere else?

Is it possible that there is a symbiostock_rf directory under your public_html directory?

Are images that should be stored in the symbiostock_rf folder used to create downloadable images for the buyers?

Yes.

One more detail. The Perm column (Permission?) is set to "700" for symbiostock_rf and "644" for wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content and some other folders.

The permissions on my symbiostock_rf directory is also 700.

88
1. My symbiostock_rf (advantica/stockphotos/symbiostock_rf) folder is empty.
It says "No files"

Your (renamed) original files should be there.

3. In the symbiostock_xml_cache folder. I'm showing 508 strangely coded files, but if I download any of them, I can't open it in Photoshop.

The cache folder is a folder for temporary files.  No need to worry about it.

Ok, I purchased the plugin but there is no way to see which versions I bought. The file name really needs to indicate what I bought, I have no clue now.

If you know how to get to it, the version number is in styles.css.

I just checked my cPanel and I have 4.5GB of storage used right now plus 50 MB in a MySQL database. I have only 260 of my images uploaded so far (I have a family website and my husband's blog elsewhere on my site, but that accounts for only 1.5GB storage).

I have about 380 images and I am using about 1.4 GB of space (which includes a 4 MB MySQL database).  I'm not sure why your usage is so much higher.

91
So you think it's better to SEO the generated thumbnails and watermarked images.

That means if you have 1000 images you have to SEO every image 3 times. 1x on the image page and thumbnails and watermarked images in Media Library.
That's 3000 times Focus keyword, description, etc.

I just have 100 images uploaded and that took me a couple of weeks due to lack of time. :-[

OK, maybe we are using the term "SEO" differently.  I mean that you should submit a sitemap to the search engines for all of your image pages, thumbnails, and watermarked images.

That's 3000 times Focus keyword, description, etc.

Actually its only 1000.  The thumbnail and watermarked image don't have keywords, descriptions, etc.

For example:

Here is a page for one of my images:
http://shazamimages.com/image/abstract-colorful-segmented-fractal-background-rgb/

Here is the watermarked image:
http://shazamimages.com/wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content/1706-abstract-colorful-segmented-fractal-background-rgb-version.jpg

Here is the thumbnail image:
http://shazamimages.com/wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content/1706-minipic.jpg

The page has the keywords, categories, description, etc.  This page will show up in Google Web Search.

But the images are just images.  They don't have any associated text.  These images will show up in Google Image Search.

Leo:

I may be way off base, (since I am a novice at Symbiostock, WordPress, and PHP), but this looks a little bit unusual.

public function list_raster_sizes has a call to apply_filters('list_raster_sizes', $data)

public function list_eps has a call to apply_filters('list_eps', $row)

But

public function list_zip has a call to apply_filters('list_eps', $row)

Shouldn't it call apply_filters('list_zip', $row)

Forgive me if this is the way it should be.  It just looks a bit odd to me.

93
Mine does.  It has the thumbnail and the watermarked image along with all the other images that I use on the site.

OK, I now understand what you are saying.

When you upload an image via the Media Library, I believe that it puts the image in wp-content/uploads/2013/08/30 <or whatever date you uploaded the image>.  I originally thought that you were referring to this directory, since that is where the Media Library places your images.

When you upload an image via Symbiostock, it puts the generated thumbnails and watermarked images in the wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content directory (which is slightly different).

If you click on "Media Library" in WP Admin, you will see everything under wp-content/uploads, which will include both of those directories.

The full-size images that you upload are located in symbiostock_rf_content.  That is a protected directory that is not accessible by the outside world (which is good since it protects your original from getting stolen).

IMO, you want to SEO the generated thumbnails and watermarked images in the wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content directory.  You don't want to SEO the original images in the symbiostock_rf_content directory, since nobody can get to them anyhow.

94
No I don't think you need to SEO the media library since it includes the images that are on your individual image pages that buyers see.

The image library does NOT contain the images that you upload to Symbiostock.  They are located in a symbiostock_rf and wp-content/uploads/symbiostock_rf_content

And yes, I believe that you should SEO those images (for searches via Google Images).

95
Besides the SEO on the image pages do you also SEO the individual images in the WP "Media Library" folder?

No, I don't really have anything in there (except for the images used in my slideshow), but I do SEO the individual watermarked images.

96
I have no problem with it, but you know what they say about opinions...

97
You might want to include a few example links.

I have just learned the hard way -

I'm very sorry to hear that.

If a file is to big they may well skip it

I'm not sure why this happened on your site, but on GoDaddy they will kill a process that runs for over 30 seconds (give or take).  I guess that they feel that if a process take over a certain amount of time, then it is a runaway process.  In addition, you have to remember that they have thousands if not tens of thousands of websites on one server, so they don't want one website hogging resources.  When I was starting to schedule my backups at night, they were failing every day for the first few days.  I found that they were killing the jobs after a certain amount of time.  So that is when I decided to break up the backup into smaller pieces that could get done within their timeframe.  This also resulted in smaller downloads.

Other people will can let you know the most important files to back up but in my case it is currently

Symbiostock_rf

You also want the following:

files in your web root directory
symbiostock_ipn
symbiostock_network
wp-admin
wp-content
wp-includes

and a bakckup of your MySQL database.

99
Somehow the images have disappeared from the database but some of the data is still showing.  I am going to have to delete around 1,100 of missing images and start all over again as they are not available for sale (Mark just tried for me)

I just wish I knew how/why they had disappeared from the file

Bye for now - I have a lot of deleting of incomplete files and reuploading/seo-ing to do  :(  :-X  :'( :'( :'(

I would verify that before I went down that road.  An hour or so of verification is much better than days of starting from scratch.  In addition, you might want to check to see if your web host keeps previous backups and see how far they go.

Using ImageMagick (exec enabled)

Web Host: GoDaddy

Its unknown if I'm going to make this a premium feature or base...but for now I want to get an idea of who has access to the terminal through php.

I would humbly suggest that this be added to the base code (and not a paid premium feature), since this seems to be one of the biggest issues for new Symbiostockers.  I don't have the issue, so it won't affect me either way, but IMO it would cut down on the frustration from new users.
