Hey all! I hope you guys are doing great... as always, reading and lurking and not to much talking :)

Anyways, when I was "inbetween" my cameras, I had only 7mpx canon point and shoot and I had to do something so while I was waiting for my new camera to arrive, I've taken some photos with post photoshop/layers/cloning/aftereffects in mind. And I can tell you that you can make "almost" everything move in those images. I remember starting a photo with my son walking with his sister, starting to manipulate it, and the best thing is to take another image while nobody is in the frame so you save yourself a half an hour of cloning. And then, you can make any part of any object/subject move in the image... not really suitable for real time but for some crazy one million frames slow motion, it can be more than believable. If done right. I never finished that image. But I managed to upload some on Istock five years ago. Had several sales since but if one would pursue only that type of work, I think there is money to be made. It's a whole new approach to "moving images" and old/new technique. Here is something that you can do with 2d image and cloning :)) And some are just simple snapshots of lights with streaks and glow added. 15 minutes of work, with rendering time :)

This is my kitchen light, streaks and glow added. With change of exposure.

This is mine shaving foam from shot from above, just spin, motion blur and slow in and out.

Now in this one, the original photo is at the end of video, I cloned all the cracks and just slowly show them through the video.

Another light, in my hallway. Added wobbling effect, green light and shake...

Elevator ceiling. Added strobe light and movement... that light was always flickering in that elevator so it gave me an idea.

Here, I shoot a light in my bathroom through my wife's (the plastic thing you roll in your hair to make it curly... can't recall the name) and added movement and flickr

And the only one that I really put effort in, this nature tilt with sunlight and some strange things flying around... You can still see some bad photoshopping on hay stacks :))) I animated almost everything here. Trees, branches, blur. And I got 4 sales :)

Anyways, after several weeks, my camera arrived and I never did any of those again. Today, when I see this guy doing all those simple movements, and with the knowledge, technology and experience I got in these five years, who knows, maybe I give it another shot :) I think he must be selling something cause he wouldn't be doing that much clips if there's no money out of it. And he already got the keywords ready from photos :)
Sorry for the long post. Back to lurking.

It's just that you are clever. The work is smart. Thank you for sharing!!

I don't have the same experience.
After the Adobe connection my sales in fotolia stop. They were not enthusiastic before but at least some low res from time to time. Now nothing.

53
SS is also best seller for me. I'm not sure it is a question of prices, I think the main reason is the user experience of the site. When I'm looking for some clips to buy, I found much easier to find solutions in SS and in IS. Then I can decide to go and look for the same clips in P5, if I really want to buy from that site. When my research start from P5 I see a less curated result and a less clean presentation. So sometimes it can be easier to buy everything directly from SS. This is my buyer point of view, as a contributor I respect very much the 50% rule of P5 but I get more money from SS

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia videoa sales are dead for me
« on: September 02, 2015, 11:19 »
I suspect Fotolia will not start taking editorial videos until they start taking editorial photos.

We have a small video port on Fotolia (less than 150 videos, maybe), all of which was uploaded to FT after the merger with Adobe. We average a video sale per month. It's sweet when they are sales for near $75 (like today's) instead of when they are the puny old-rate subscription sales where we receive a few bucks.

You can opt out from the old subscription. The amount they reserve is offensive. About the normal rate selling it's a low earner but I sell some

55
I got my payment after fourth try of Tax declaration. At the end they red my previous declarations and told me exactly what I had to write. They were very helpful

56
The relationship with videoblocks guy is very good, they have been extremely helpful in every moment.
I also had to complete the W-8BEN form for the third time today. They might have some trouble in their signing system.
I'm waiting the first payment on July the 15th. I'll let you know

General - Stock Video / Re: mp4 convert to quicktime mov
« on: July 02, 2015, 05:44 »
Streamclip is the software that normally people uses to avoid importing footage in a NLE software.
Mp4 file can be quite compressed in certain cases so the conversion never add more data.
Usually people works on the contrary workflow starting from .mov and going to .mp4

58
Please rise your prices. If I need your clip I can pay it 4/5 times more. If I don't need it I'm not going to buy it becouse it's so cheap. I can also  doubt about quality becouse it is cheap

59
Not only the five year hook, even three years in this industry is an impossible long period.
But also you don't have the chance to delete or deactivate your own clips if you want it.
You don't receive the notification of the downloads more often than every 30 days.
You are allowed to go and check the business just in their offices and once a year which sounds strange.
I don't know, maybe they are nice people but so many elements of the contract sound very unpleasant.
Not thinking of the start when they went out with the 5 dollars clip strategy, where prices are decided only by their editors, this is not in place any more but give a special colour to the relationship with contributors.

60
I'm afraid you are right StockPhotosArt
Just I'm not sure if the huge work of preparing different resolutions but then upload and tag all of them worth it.
Also with the automatic downscaling of the 4K clips there are some problems. Customers don't find the downscaled version in the search before they enter in the specific tab of the clip. If they exclude higher prices or 4k resolution from their search, they are not going to see the HD version of the clip.
So there are big problems in P5 about resolutions.

Considerati individual, non vogliono la partita iva, scritto in rosso verso la fine (NO VAT NUMBER). Devi usare il tuo codice fiscale

Pond5 / Re: Video - Pricing at Pond5
« on: January 23, 2015, 11:42 »
Current best selling videos on Pond5 (the ones you see on the top page "Media of the Moment") are priced around $69 for 1080 HD file.  If you sell for cheaper, you are not really increasing your sales, but just decreasing your profit.  It's a bad business decision.

Pond5 / Re: Video - Pricing at Pond5
« on: January 14, 2015, 11:31 »
I have the same video on SS, P5 and Revostock.
I still have some video on IS, only those ones who are priced around 150$.
I keep prices on P5 to be competitive and  let me earn 25/32 $ per sale.
I tried to make my clips much cheaper but I didn't increase AT ALL my sales.
If customers need them and if they are in a good  prices range, let's say 45/150 $, they just buy them.
NO WAY!!
My best seller is SS.
My sales in P5 didn't change at all when I lowered prices, I just got less money and P5 too.
My best sold files are the same  in any agency (apart Revo which is a very slow seller).
Customers buy the same clips at very different prices.
It can happen that I sell the same clip the same week for 150 $ on IS and 64 $ on P5 and SS/prices.
I don't think the game is on prices.
We lower prices and we just get less money.
I'm pretty sure that if we go under 45/50 dollars we don't sell more, we just get less money.
We probably have to work on better footage and BETTER KEYWORDING  to compete one another

Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock Selling HD Videos for $0.15 !!
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:45 »
I received that answer and my footage is not on BigStock.
I opted in for subscription in SS, and I always get around 20 dollars per download.
For the moment I feel ok with the answer and the evidence of my position.
I wrote a site mail becouse I didn't want to partecipate in any way to the BigStock affair.
I decided also to not upload to dissolve becouse of there policy of the 5 dollars footage.
Until the sites provide around 20 dollars for download I can stand it otherwise it's simply not worthy

I'm a video contributor and I sent a site mail to Shutterstock. Here is the text:

"Good morning sirs.
I cannot find if I opted in for selling footage on other sites, connected with
agreements or ownership with Shutterstock.
For exemple Big Stock.
You know there are some discussions about the last commercial proposals of that
agency in term of footage. I don't succed in finding information about it. I would like to avoid that my footage would be sold at really really little prices. Can
you help me telling me if a risk that situation or if I have to opt out some
condition of our agreement? "

Here is the answer:

"Dear Luca,
Thank you for your email. Please know that the footage clips you submit to Shutterstock is only licensed through Shutterstock. You footage clips will not be licensed through Bigstock without your permission. We hope this clarifies the issue for you.
Kind Regards,
Shutterstock Compliance"

General - Stock Video / Re: New price management for Revostock
« on: October 07, 2014, 11:34 »
I'm also new in Revostock, less than one year. Very nice people but very few sales.
I tried to look for some clips to buy and i find a lot of keywording spam.
I was looking for some "Rome Colosseum Timelapse" and the results were many timelapses of any kind and many arenas all over the world.
So it is diffcult to buy footage there.
Not a big collection like SS, POND5 and IS and more complicate to find what you are looking for.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock's back
« on: September 14, 2014, 01:56 »
Indipendent video contributors are going to have a difficult time now. Clips will be priced a bit lower than SS and Pond5 while the royalties will be not significant. We are going to eat up ourselves having the same clips at a lower price with the perspective of 7 against 20 dollars earning. We are going to be obliged to deactivate our files in Istock if they don't rise royalties rate

74
In that condition you should use a boom microphone.
The cheapest, with enough quality is the Rode NTG2. Take care to boom it with the right direction and out of the frame. If you don't mind to see the lavalier, that is for sure the best sound for the voice. Anyway, try to take well care with audio in the same way you do with image. I mean if you are in a very soundy place tha audio will be noisy.

Pond5 / Re: Pond5: What should we improve?
« on: January 22, 2014, 16:05 »
You have so many contributors who are not native English speaker. Would be nice to have a spell checker in the tabs for description and key wording. It would help selling in my opinion
