Adobe Stock / Re: 2010 Fotolia Tax coming !!
« on: January 01, 2010, 16:55 »
Does anybody knows if the withholding tax is permanent or it will be re-imboursed (is that the word?!) when forms are finally filled and accepted?
Claude

I sure as hell hope so. I looked briefly on the forums and didn't find an answer.

No problem. If you need more in the future just PM me and we can do it again.

iStockphoto $10.48
Shutterstock $1.25
Fotolia $1.20
Dreamstime $1.04
Crestock $0.65
StockXpert $0.63
123RF $0.44
Bigstockphoto $0.31

Total $16.00

Throwing in the odd sales from Canstockphoto, Veer, and Zymmetrical would probably add another $1. So $17.00.

Having only 62 images on iStock kind of skews my results. The others have 200-400 images. I uploaded very little this year.

Total dud for me as well. Was doing better on Snapvillage.

Do something.

132
Insane.

133
I would go exclusive if they weren't so strict on raster illustrations.  :-\

134
So far for December I would have made 22.5% more on my non-sub sales under this new pricing and commission structure. I do have an awkwardly high number of M, L, and XL sales this month though. Plus I have a relatively small portfolio. I am a silver rank though.

Crestock.com / Re: For those impatient with Crestock
« on: November 24, 2009, 05:43 »
I haven't been paid in ages and haven't bothered to contact them over it. (Doesn't seem to do any good) BUT, I did recently request that they delete 12 files that I was putting exclusive to Fotolia and they did that within 24 hours. So someone is there reading the emails and just choosing to ignore some of them.  ;)

I was thinking of upgrading but I really have no problems with Vista. So I suppose I'll just spare myself the hassle and stick with it.  ;)

Veer / Re: Improvements to Veer Marketplace
« on: November 09, 2009, 20:17 »
@Kngkyle,

Try this path: Dashboard>Statistics>>adjust "From week ending">Display as table>scroll down.

It loads pretty fast for me. I think it's the best display of earnings I've seen so far.

I don't think you understand what I meant.

To see your stats on Veer you have to first click 'my account', then 'your member page', and finally 'dashboard'. Nearly every other microstock site shows your account balance at the top of every page. I don't like having to flip through a bunch of pages every time I want to check my earnings. It doesn't help that the veer site often loads slowly compared to the others. (Alexa: Very Slow (7.307 Seconds), 91% of sites are faster.)

It would be nice to be able to see our earnings without having to navigate through a bunch of slow loading pages each time we want to check. That's my biggest complaint as of now.

140
I doubt it. I don't know what SS is planning on doing obviously. But I sure hope they redesign the site. The front page is so busy with text and links all over. Just bothers me.  :D

Computer Hardware / Re: looking for monitor
« on: November 05, 2009, 01:35 »
I would just go with the cheaper dell. I doubt there is a big enough difference to warrant spending an extra $380. Hell you could get 2 of the dells for that. Certainly that would be better for most people.

Computer Hardware / Re: Single 30" or a pair of 22"?
« on: November 04, 2009, 16:02 »
I have dual 24 inch Dell S2409Ws. It's not one of their ultrasharp monitors or anything special and only cost me $170 each. I am not a super pro photographer and don't ever intend to be, so having an ultrasharp crystal clear super expensive monitor was not one of my top priorities. They do look 100% identical though. Perhaps the biggest drawback for me is that they are 1920x1080 and not 1920x1200. For the price though I couldn't be happier.

My input above is probably useless cause you lot need the higher end monitors. But I can offer 1 suggestion! If you are considering a Dell, I highly recommend you check out http://www.dell.com/outlet to see if they have what you are looking for. That is where Dell sells their returned/refurbished products and sometimes offer them at a great discount. My computer cost me about $1000 while it was listed new for about $1500 with the same specs. It took a couple days for a system with the specs I wanted to show up, but it was well worth the wait.  ;) I now have 3 purchases from dell outlet and they all seem brand new to me and still have the warranty.

IS - 26%
FT - 21%
CanStockPhoto - 20% - awesome month. love those $20 fotosearch sales
SS - 12%
StockXpert - 9%
DT - 5% - way way way way way down, used to be #1
123 - 4%
CS - 2%
BigStock - 1%

This has been the first full month that I have had 12 of my most popular files on Fotolia exclusive. It was really a no brainer cause these 12 files don't particularly sell great on the other sites. But anyway, Fotolia is up 21% over last month because of this. When one of these 12 files sell I get 3x as much as I used to.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Are U Mac or PC?
« on: October 31, 2009, 14:15 »
PS. How would you build a 27" iMac from PC parts?

The same way you 'build' a 27" Mac. Buy it straight from dell or gateway or some other company. Mac isn't the only brand with all-in-ones. And the ones from other companies are much cheaper. Like this quad-core dell (albeit only has a 24" screen) for $1300.

Windows guy.

8GB ram, 1.28tb hard drive, intel core i7 920 2.67ghz (8 cores), 512mb ati radeon 4850 graphics card, and two 24 inch flat panel hd monitors all for under $1500.

I have vista ultimate and have had no problems with it. It runs fine and has never crashed on me. To buy a equivalent machine from mac would cost at least twice as much if not three times and wouldn't be nearly as customizable.

123RF / Re: Donate Free Images? Is it good ?
« on: October 21, 2009, 19:18 »
The only site that you should even consider putting images for free is Fotolia. At least they give you 50 cents for every file you offer for free. So if you have really old crappy files that never sell, you have little to lose.

I was rooting for Chicago myself, and was pretty shocked when it was the first one to be eliminated. (Many claimed it was the supposed front runner) Regardless, Rio was my second choice and I'm sure they will put on quite a show.

Hopefully they redesign that god awful website.  ;)
