how did you override it?  I have had to delete the double words making incomplete sentences or leaving out part of the description.

As Perrush said, it just gave me the option to overide it, with a warning that it might effect search results. Presumably thay have changed it to be less incovemient.

I had  noticed in my last upload a similar issue. It just came up as a warning, and i was able to overide it. They are still in the pending queue at the moment so don't know if they will get onto the site though.

I feel quite humble looking at some of these images, but if someone wants to rate mine that would be great.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: The site is slow lately.
« on: September 25, 2007, 09:01 »
At the moment reviews seem slow, the site itself is slow or has 503 error, and downloads decreasing for me. To me it seems strange (apart from possibly my lack of downloads), but you'd have thought with Getty behind them they would be going from strength to strength.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: need new lense (ok, want new lense)
« on: August 18, 2007, 18:42 »
I've had the Sigma 70-200 2.8 for about a year now and have been very happy with it. I spent a while in the shop annoying the assistant trying out that and the Canon f4 version. The Canon does seem slightly quicker and smoother to focus, but coming from the UK where it never stops raining (or at least feels that way) I plumped for the extra speed of the Sigma. I've not regretted my decision at all.

It's not as bitingly sharp as my only prime lens canon 50mm f1.4, but I wouldn't expect that from a zoom lens.

Dreamstime.com / Model releases lost in crash
« on: August 16, 2007, 13:12 »
I didn't receive any emails or messages, but when I uploaded some new images last night and went into the model release section there was a message asking me to re-upload my existing model releases as they had been lost in the crash.

I don't know if they had stopped selling those images, certainly none has been sold in the last couple of weeks. However it may well be worth those of you with model realeased images at DT checking to see if the same has happened to you.

« on: August 10, 2007, 13:57 »
I have used the Istock model release with their logo removed, their address details removed and the copyright bit in bottom right corner removed. This has been accepted at DT, BS, SS, FT, Stockxpert, 123rf, without any problems at all.

Bigstock.com / Re: Big vs 123RF
« on: July 24, 2007, 02:49 »
For me 123RF has been the lowest earner every month since I started uploading to them In Feb of this year. BigStock although well behind IS & SS is generally fighting for 3rd place with DT, and outperforming Fotolia & Stockxpert.

It does help that rejections at BigStock are very infrequent, so they do have my biggest portfolio.

That looks really useful. Thanks

Shutterstock.com / Re: How's it going?
« on: May 31, 2007, 16:21 »
Last month I uploaded the most images in one month for me (about 3 days worth for Sharply done) and had a decrease in sales.

This month, due to other commitments I havn't uploaded at all and have had my best ever month. Although only at Shutterstock, every other site has seen a decrease compared to last month.

Possibly the fact that my portfolio is very small compared to others on here, only 128 at SS means that I am more prone to fluctuations than those with much bigger (and better) portfolios.

I've only had a couple of shots with models, but last one I just used Istock release, just deleting any reference to them. It was accepted at all the big 6.

Photoshop Discussion / Re: Releasing tutorials
« on: May 15, 2007, 03:02 »
I certainly don't have a problem with your presentation, it comes across as quite natural. Certainly I appreciate the effort you put in to help photoshop novices such as myself. I've got books magazine atriclesand web tutorials, but seeing processes in action helps to give a better idea of whats happening.

It seems to me that having an in depth knowledge of photoshop is essential for any photographer who wants to stay ahead of the game. Of course you want your image to be technically perfect, so mastering your camera, and understanding light is of paramount importance. However that tree tutorial shows how relatively easy it is to improve the shot, which could never be achieved in camera.

So much to learn, my brain hurts, but thanks for any knowledge you wish to share.

« on: May 09, 2007, 01:16 »
I loaded batch without any problems, or so I thought until I tried to attach model releases, and it just wont accept them. Looking in the forums, seems to be some sort of technical error.

General - Top Sites / Re: April earnings
« on: May 01, 2007, 14:03 »
Still a small portfolio compared to a lot of people here, ranging from 66 at DT to 133 at BigStock, but here are my figures anyway

SS     27%
FT     6%
BigStock   7%
DT    24%
IS     36%
123RF 1 download all month so a tiny little bit of 1%

I increased my portfolio based on an average of all sites by 35% but only saw an increase in income by 21%. Shutterstock was really poor for me this month, lower sales than in Feb & March, all the others increased though.

I also joined Stockxpert this month and was amazed that 62 out of 64 images from my first submission were accepted, however the first 10 days there have not created one sale.

Fingers crossed for May.

Shutterstock.com / Re: 5c payrise but with conditions
« on: April 24, 2007, 02:38 »
I'm nowhere near that figure yet, and if this months sales are anything to go by, there will be another payrise before I get there.

I can understand the reasoning behind it, and it must be great news for the high earners there, so no sour grapes from me, I'll just have to work my butt off trying to get more quality images on line there. (well and eveywhere else too)

74
I've only been submitting there for 2 months, and don't generate the kind of sales others around here do, but my average $/dl is 53c, although the monthly totals have been quite diverse 43c last month, and 71c so far this month.

I'm sure the one on the left is Phil Hellmuth ( the Poker player)

does seem slightly strange to reject these, I would say it's worth resubmitting.
