I contacted them. They've referred the issues to contributor support for further investigation. I'd suggest others do the same so they know it's not a one off.
As I have as well. Encouraging everyone who has been affected to do the same.

And I was hoping 123RF and "closed for maintenance" meant they would do a quantum leap into the 21st Century and abandon their "flip, flop and slide" setup for a modern one page - no nonsense contributor page.....oh well, I guess I'll have to continue wearing my mood ring and platform shoes while I'm submitting.

What's your reaction then to the "Microstock Poll Results"? Pond5 is now part of the top four - a position I've never seen it in before.
I never worry about day to day, week to week or even month to month sales. The only important statistic, IMO, is year to year and so far Pond5 (along with the five other agencies I work with) have consistently out earned from the previous years.

Depositphoto is, in my opinion, the most perplexing agency in the business.
For years, as an "also ran" business, they accepted just about everything you submitted. It worked for me because, as a street photographer, DP was one of my best agencies selling less mainstream subject material.
DP always mirrors its business with Shutterstock. What the SS does, DP will always follow. Lately they're rejecting just about everything I'm submitting. Much like the SS did a few years back.
And as a result? DP was once sitting around 13-15 in the "earnings rating" that you see on the right side of the page. They're now hovering around "5".
Unfortunately, unlike the SS, Depositphoto is a follower and not a leader.

For what its worth....123RF fell off the cliff in December. January sales are back to normal so far with sales now equal to the entire month of December.....

The music you used for the promotional material....is that yours or did you pay the owner?
I can't see any harm in your effort although I think if you had used a much broader range of clips you might attract more buyers. Ducks, a pond, rain and the mood you created is limiting.

And isn't there always someone that's the exception in these topics? Unusually strong December for DT and I have next to nothing with a Christmas theme in my portfolio. I even had a few days this month when DT was beating out SS. The big holiday stinker for me was 123RF. Off the cliff and into the deep, black hole. 7 sales with a portfolio in the +2500 category.

Beautifully done, Brighton! All well thought out and choreographed. I'd love to work with the footage. I can see a real poignant story with the dancers. One - perhaps, dancing alone at the end of the story. Your work is a real showcase demonstrating your professionalism. Bravo!

Well...I'm going to offer that it's just you. It took a little getting used to but I don't have any problem with the new set-up.

Good creative thinking. I like your effort. Cobalt's got some good advise.

Plenty of amateurs produce extermely good work. Olympic sports athletes are amateurs. Better not tell all those "amateur" hockey players representing their countries in the Winter Olympics. Hockey players that are multi-millionaires playing in the NHL. An amateur submitting video clips is a person who doesn't use a tripod. Has no idea what an "establishing shot" is or "pre-roll" footage. Pans and tilts simply for the sake of panning and tilting without using subject matter within the frame to change framing. ie. a bird in flight, traffic, pedestrians, water flowing, etc. Yes. There are clips shot by people who have no background experience or expertise that are presentable to buyers....but the vast majority of clips that buyers have to wade through is cr"p.....pure and simple. And that`s the problem. Agencies like IS, SS and P5 are far more concerned with volume than they are with quality. If a company hires professional cameramen and editors to produce their presentation, are they going to use amateur footage supplied by agencies.

You'll be surprised how many will give their stuff away and amateur content these days is very good.
Forgive me....but amateur videographers judging amateur video clips still equals amateur quality.

Yes. Just happened to me today for the first time. 6 submitted. 6 rejected re "file transfer error". Very annoying.

....and in the end the only true statistic that counts will be the end of the year results. I had a mediocre September. Today, for whatever reasons, I'm God's gift to photography/videography and enjoyed my best sales day ever by a country mile. How that plays out in the overall statistics at the end of the year will be interesting.
If we all deal with lower sales at the end of the year - the business has a problem. Month to month doesn't really assert anything other than some people did well while others didn't.

I guess I can join in on the chorus. Four years with the SS and September is slightly better than the first year. Shutterstock is the only motivation for staying in the game. Not much incentive if things stay the same.

Good for you! Great seeing someone with such an adventurous spirit!
The only film I've submitted is archival, b/w. A lot of fascinating material but much of it isn't in the best of shape. Good luck with your project!

And on Canada's west coast that "white sky" has been an ongoing problem all summer from numerous wildfires in the interior. A real shame for those having to deal with the crisis and very much a lost summer for everyone else because of the poor air quality.

I stick with P5 and SS for clip sales. IS simply doesn't deserve my body of work. P5 is very up and down month to month this year. SS is always 3+ with 9 sales in February. This month P5 is sitting at 6 sales. SS @ 4 but one of them was a $105 sale .

My RPI this month at DT is around $0.10. Nowadays, it is usually around $0.12 - 0.15. In the good old days it was between $0.25 and $0.35, I think.
....and mine is $035. I can't understand how it is that everything and anything, from small to Tiff is going for the flat rate of $0.35.

The SS is back on the warpath unfortunately.... For the past year things seemed to normalize and I was getting a 75%-80% acceptance. The last few weeks I'm back down to 5%.....and they're usually images with less commercial appeal IMO. Having said that, I would never ever submit 1000 images in one batch! To any agency!

Congratulations. And good for Shutterstock finding a buyer. I hope somewhere down the road you'll find out how the clips are being used and share with us!

I've had the same thing happen. 17 sales with P5 in one case. 12 with SS in another. Each with similar themes. It can happen and will always make for a "special day" when it does. Congratulations!
