Yes it is

27
These day in video I contribute to P5 exclusive , P5 non exclusive, Adobe Stock and Artgrid.

Not for me. I have ditched a long time ago Istock, Shutterstock and Videohive Envato
What stock do you have left?  ???

28
Not for me. I have ditched a long time ago Istock, Shutterstock and Videohive Envato. Not worth my time. I had thousands of clips there. Not a single one in Istock or SS. Videohive I do not upload anything anymore.

My yearly income has been raising since I have started contributing video 5 years ago.

Off Topic / Re: I will never use AI
« on: November 26, 2023, 06:59 »
AI is garbage from a creative point of view the same way 99.99% of photos on micros are . Uninspiring work that will never be considered as a piece of art. But as commodities they work and we will be see it more and more everyday.

In any case AI will kill all microstock snapshots and substitute it sooner than later. And soon no human prompts by suppliers will be needed . The same AI that powers these sites will know how to fill their databases with what is needed and asked for by clients.  The clock is ticking fast . Qe are really arount the corner of that reality.

Truly disgusting......

Whats next jews gas chambers recreation with explicit fake images, hutu and tutsi fake images....

This has to stop and I hope that companies that accept this kind of content get hit hard or by laws or by boycott

Truly disgusting....

31
Let me guess ...... Al most 1% of P5 exclusive contribuyors will take this exciting new SS offer  ;D ;D

The day I am forced to sell my clips for cents at  SS i am out as quick as a lightning bolt. I did already step out and delete thousands of videos from Istock for the low amounts SS id even worse

32
You are correct but this is only provisional. Once the AI have the data they need it will be basically 0 to SS and they will have everything that is needed to snatch the throne of the stock industry from the traditional players like Getty and Shutter. Adobe will survive because they have identified the issue and will create their own image generation stock possibilities. But SS and Getty . Those two big stocks will be dimes in the stock market in the next few years. Worst investment you could do at this time. There is the same shift that was from analog photography companies like Kodak to digital ones. Fuji survived. Same will be true with Adobe.

Overall it sounds like they have no real ideas how to grow the stock business, but have glowing eyes when it comes to data licensing.

How much will producers earn from that?

And will all those new contributors enjoy uploading material for data sets?

eta:

They are making roughly 80 million in the quarter with stock sales and already 17 million with data set sales.

I dont think the artists are getting an additional one third of their income from data sets on ss, right?

So selling data sets for training is extremely more profitable for them than regular stock licensing.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Getty Video royalties change
« on: July 31, 2023, 17:33 »
Unfortunately to late for them. You compare any search and video results from Getty/Istock are dismal compared to the other big agencies....in quality and quantity. And the diffeence is so big that I really think it is game over for video for them as it happened with audio in the past. Artlist, Envato, Epidemic sound, killed Getty/Shutterstock/Adobe stock audio and now they are going after video too.

Getty cannot attract video content. Their exclusive videographers are too low in numbers and many video creators just don't upload to Getty because that ridiculous 20% that in reality is much lower most of the time with their PAaccess , and weird programs.... where they get revenue and the creator gets almost nothing. Contributors just did not fell on their trap with video. Now their offering is underwhelming and they know it. No carrot or stick will work at this point. It is game over for video for them.

Staying exclusive in video with them is just nuts. Before deleting thousands of video files in Getty some years ago the revenue I was making at that time at the other agencies was like 20x-30x times as much every month as what I was making with their statements. So it was easy to go away and not damaging those agencies that really put food on the table with my video sales. I really wonder who would take the read to video exclusivity when they have never been a video content leader.

I have been a Stocksubmitter user for quite some time but the recent price increase has me look for other solutions to upload my videos. I have tried now Xpiks and although it has great features it work quite worse than Stocksubmitter to upload videos and so far I will not use it as the workflow is much slower than with Stocksubmitter for some glitches or parts that are not well implemented. The good and bad for both programs

PRICE:

Her Xpiks smashes Stocksubmitter. For just 35$ you have unlimited uploads vs many hundreds of dollars if you contribute with a big amount of files.

USER INTERFACE

Both are good and quite easy to grasp once you use them for a day. As I am used to StockSubmitter I like this one more as you have to jump less through windows and tabs. The important information is all in one main tab as opposite from Xpiks where you have to jump around more.
The look of Xpiks is much more modern vs the SS one that looks dated but as I said I prefer usability than looks

SUPPORT:

Stocksubmitter is much faster in this. You also pay much more for the program use so this is to be expected. It is also in chat form that is much more usable than the email Xpiks offers

UPLOAD and SUBMIT:

Here Stocksubmitter trumps Xpiks for video. I am uploading videos to 2 agencies nowadays: Adobe and Pond 5 . Uploading with Xpiks to Adobe was crawling slow, totally unusable and I tried many times at different days. Uploads to Pond5 had many failures too and although the speed was good I had to manually upload many times until all the vidos went through. I think something is not right with their Sftp implementation.
On the contrary StockSubmiter works as a charm, very rarely you get a failed upload. Speed with P5 is lightning fast and Adobe half the speed than P5 but still much much faster than Xpiks. None of the programs uploads as fast as when I use Filezilla Pro, with a symmetric 1 GBs/s upload fiber speed I upload dozens of Prores videos in a few minutes. That is uasully 20-50 Gb per batch upload.

SUBMIT:

No hassles with stocksubmitter. You upload and forget. No CSV exports/imports. Once you upload those all the metadata is submitted in an effective way.
With Xpiks although submission is not supported directly from the program in the case of Adobe Stock and P5 is does not matter that much because the program is able to embed titles, descriptions and keywords to videos for Adobe and P5. I don't know how it gets done as I thought that video has not the IPTC capabilities of still images but when you go to those two agencies the metadata written on the program is there. So that is truly great.

KEYWORDING:

Both programs have truly great tools to keyword. I would rate them A++. From within the program you have options to autokeywords or get similar images and pick up the best keywords.

VIDEO PLAY of files:

Perfect with stocksubmitter. You double click on the thumbnail and your predetermined video file player plays the video files
In Xpiks that is not possible in my case. You double click on the video and nothing happens. Only for this glitch I would discard Xpiks to manage videofiles. I have contacted support but unfortunately the solution they gave me  a solution (enter in administrator mode or normal mode) did not fix the problem and said it was more something on my PC. Seems this problems does not affect StockSubmitter

Conclusion:

It is great to have options to upload to many agencies at once, as it saves you tons of time. I have been using SS for a long time and it works great. But recent price hikes and the dwindling stock incomes is beginning to make this an expensive solution. On the contrary, Xpiks is much more affordable and if it would work correctly with videos I would jump on it in a heartbeat because it is much cheaper. But the slow upload and inability to play my video files from within the program makes me stay with Stocksubmitter for the time being.  I will keep an eye on Xpiks because if in the future those glitches get solved I will definitely make the jump because the money saving is huge with that alternative.

As I said in the tittle, this is my experience with both program that might be different to others. I could not find a good comparison on Youtube or here, so I wrote this so that others have some information before deciding, although both programs can be tried out for free and this is always the best path to know if a program suits your needs or not.

Is it normal that the sftp password changes all the time. I put that info in Filezilla Pro, XPIKS or Stock Submitter and when i enter those programs again connection fails . I have to go to Adobe , regenerate password and again introduce that password again in all the site I use. Really tired of it and a huge waste of time .... Is this normal behavior with Adobe stock. And if so is there a way to make that dam... password stick so i don't have to change it all the time? >:(

Microstock Services / Anyone uses XPIKs to submit videos
« on: July 23, 2023, 13:09 »
Hello:

Does anybody use XPIKs to submit video to agencies. How is the upload process with metadata. Until now I have used StockSubmitter and it is an amazing program , no doubt about that. The speed you can rearrange metadata, ability to open the videos, no need to deal with CSV etc. But it is becoming too expensive for me. So I am looking for a cheaper solution. Is XPIKS easy on videos. Does the export import function work without any need to arrange anything by my side. i rather do not want to mess around with CSV files. If it is simply an export and then import (and it respects the keyword order for Adobe) then I might try it out.

If this is not possible, I would rather not lose time and bad uploaded video files to agencies if it does not work with this type of files. Their guide is not that explanatory about on how to upload video files.

Anyone using it for video? Your input would be appreciated.

37
Yes. The price looks very good and I would jump into it with an autosubmission for my videos instantly. But reading through the instructions it seems you still have to deal with CSV templates, exports, etc which is not my thing and another step for errors. I rather pay more and have the assurance that everything will go where it has to go . If someday the video upload process is as streamlined as Stocksubmitter i will for sure give it a chance. Maybe a plugin is on the works to make this possible.

Thank you very much. I will try it for sure. I am used to stocksubmitter but with escalating prices of that software I am looking at other options.....

That is why I moved to ImStocker. They have the best pricing model out of all of the available tools.

StockSubmitter supports more marketplace auto-submission functionality, but I don't mind doing the final on-site submission process myself. It's mainly the multi-marketplace upload functionality I need, the final submission process doesn't take nearly as much time.

38
Thank you. Videos are always the best way to show how something works.

Now I would love to see how you upload and more important Submit videos (with or without plugins) As I don't want to deal with CSV files , I think  most of us video submitters don't want to touch CSV files, so a video would be useful on how to proceed to upload and submit video with all the keywording, description to agencies (without any CSV templates,fields,.....don't know if such plugin exists yet for Imstocker studio) as you can do for example with stock submitter. You can upload your video sand submit all the metadata without having to open or deal with any CSV file.

39
Thank you very much. I will try it for sure. I am used to stocksubmitter but with escalating prices of that software I am looking at other options.....

40
I have been using Stocksubmitter to upload and submit my video files to different agencies. I would like to try another option and came across Imstocker.

I have read about the submission process . It seems a little more complicated with the plugins, but what I really want to know is that if I need to deal with the CSV crap . In stocksubmitter or directly uploading I can just introduce the metadata , upload and submit. I don't need to introduce data in CSV sheets not export it to csv sheets to import later. I don't want to deal with that.

Is it possible to upload and submit through Imstocker without any CSV creation, interaction,exporting,.....just introducing the metadata in the program, upload and submit like in Stocksubmitter? If this is so I would love to try it out. If not I do not want to waste my time

Thank you

Someday a contributor will bring the agency to court and the judge will see that as a company they are as responsible for the criminal act of selling stolen photos as the infringer.

One a few millions in fines need to be paid you will see how fast we will never see this again in the age of IA. It is very easy to spot this fraudster. SS and others are turning a blind eye because it brings profits to their corporations and it cannot harm them. Once it really does all will change in that regard.

42
I hope someday you will create a too to keyword from within Lightroom Thats what I am using not and it is really very fast You stay in the LR environment until you export your images for final delivery Lightning fast workflow with all your metadata worked out in one place. Hope you might consider it in the future 🙂

Very few exclusives are participating in the custom content program. It has been a total failure for Getty, so they are trying to see if non exclusives might take the deal.

These are your "opportunities":
You get a briefing:

- You shoot for that client: let's say for BMW they want to se BMW cars in natural locations with families. You set up the shoot and take all the risk. You send in yout 100 images of the shoot that has cost you 1000$ to set up. From those images the client picks up 4 images at 150$ each. Your commission is 30% so you net 180$. Those 4 images are now owned by the client in perpetuity. The other 96 images you have to take out any that are similar to those 4 accepted. Those that are not similar at all can go to the library.  So yes you have lost 820$ and have worked on assignment for a client and Getty got a 70% bite.

Do you understand why of the thousands of exclusive contributors nearly nobody is participating in this program?

We receive those briefing every day that in my case go directly to the spam folder. I guess thats the place they deserve.

https://www.theregister.com/2022/10/26/shutterstock_getty_openai_dall_e/

Getty and Shutterstock will not need any more content of nobody in 2 or 3 years. They will scrap the content they have the same way as Getty showed the door to all RM photographers and their content providers or Shutterstock showed the door to all that did not accept their pennies.

Now not even pennies will be on the table. Time to move up that 85% to 100% share

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Free Collection: Video Nominations
« on: October 21, 2022, 16:02 »
not so many seeing the desperate need of giving away his clips almost for free...adobe nominates only valuable clips seeing what they choose from my port...i mean they could choose unsold clips with low value just to fill the collection, they don't....

They monetize those videos . They have to pay 0 after those 8$. They will only select good sellers. If I would guess it will be 3 to 4x times more they would to pay in commissions to those acquired for 1 year files than if they had to pay a 35% for the sales they expect. Remember, they run the maths and they know exactly. ::)

I don't want my files being downloaded in droves and then uploaded to other sites by stalkers and leechers. Much less for 8$. I would be tempted for 30$/file. But 8$ is laughable. In my case they have selected over 200 files :o

Glad it is finally happening. Too much content that should not be there. SS is not doing enough because it is profiting big for doing nothing most of the time. I hope this time it hits them hard.

Thank you very much. Yes I was making a quick calculation Shopify + Pixify plus other compliments and it quickly turned to 120$ every month. too much for me. I think that Photodeck looks better for me at the moment but with a good amount of sales Shopify might be well worth it if a better SEO brings a higher number of high RM sales.
