General Stock Discussion / Re: February 2015 sales

Must mean not too many people are reporting here, I wonder if the minimum number of replies is required for the exclusive numbers?  I don't think I've filled out the poll in nearly a year, when the options get updated to allow more realistic reporting maybe I'll start again.

Must mean that sales are down the drain........at Istockland

20%. Are you serious. You are not going to get quality images with this percentage...not nowadays.....unless you have a huge selling volume Only my opinion.....

As an exclusive diamond contributor I would not recommend yoy to become exclusive at this point. It was worth it many years ago. Not now.

Very interesting interview. Thank you very much

Unfortunately I think it will be nearly impossible for any pro to make a living from Istock alone as an exclusive. Me as a diamond making  a monthly 5 figure only two years ago  I am looking for other options  seriously for the first time.

I have to agree on that. Would not recommend working with AGE Fotostock for the same reasons as stated on those three points.

I don't know about the link, I just recommend anybody not to use agefotostock if you don't want:

1. Never to sell anything
2. Have troubles to recover your images
3. Keep your copyright

Be very careful with these people  >:(

Stocksy / Re: Stocksy application... was declined
« on: September 25, 2014, 15:35 »
Spike is not that far off. Stocksy has many powerful images, other that only have the instagram look but are prone to oblition. I have always wondered what if some day Stocksy wakes up, swims outside the lagoon to the open sea. I really think they would be succesful. Most people are just fed up with the domination of the two gorillas. The strategy not to grow too fast might work or not, but they have all the element to become a dominant player if they just step out their safe zone.

Me I will be watching carefully. I have not aplied yet as i am still exclusive to one of the dominant players and because this actor accepts a variety of images of mine from cheap production on white background to shoots that have cost me 4000$ to editorial images.

I like what I see with Stocksy and for the benefit of all of us contributors or not I wish them gold and glory

iStockPhoto.com / Re: First Week of New iStock - How are you doing?
« on: September 22, 2014, 06:41 »
Unfortunately my sales have disappeared. 2011 I was making 100+ sales per day. Now 15-20 on weekdays and 0-3 on weekends. How about that. Since the changes the collapsing has accelerated. I am a diamond exclusive contributor

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iStock penalising Diamonds ?
« on: August 05, 2014, 09:17 »
As an Istock diamond with crashing sales month after month I don't think it is Istock penalizing anyone. It is just that buyers have left the place. That simple. Exclusivity  Istock and Getty (I contribute to PC and house collections) are no longer a viable photography business. I give them 6 more months to change that trend, thats when my cut will drop from 40 to 35, then I will be out. I hope my psychological health will improve after that :-)

"In order to harness 500px Prime's success and maximize commercial opportunities for our community we are focusing on royalty-free and rights managed photography licenses"

Hello:

Any more information if there is a plan for marketing Rights Managed images in the inmediate future?? That would be very interesting for an Istock exclusive like me. 500px has a beautiful collection. I am a recent member and it's great to see a lot of variety and amazing images impossible to see on any of the micros.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: June 2014 Sale reported?
« on: June 20, 2014, 11:30 »
Same here. Close to 10k photos and sales just vanished. It is not only at Istock. I am also a Gettyimages house contributor and the revenue is dismal. Less than a diminute fraction of what it was some years ago. For the first time I think it's match point for Getty, the returning point has long been crossed and the dinosaur is laying KO on the ground.

I've never posted about poor sales, but the end of May to date has been abysmal. I have over 10,000 images, and have been fortunate to see 1-3 sales/day...none of which are S+. All S&M...which is the way I'm feeling about iStock...a non-sexual pain and humiliation.

Payoneer and Paypal. Used Skrill recently but being transferend to a merchant account it became much more expensive than the ones I use now.

564
I have been using Moneybookers for the past months on a personal account till they changed me a few weeks ago to a merchant account, after asking for Skrill VIP status. The last received transfer from Istock had a hefty fee. I closed my account. If you have a personal account you better stay low profile to keep you account with the low fees. With the merchant account it is not worth it with much better alternatives from Paypal and Payoneer.

Another account with stolen images: http://www.shutterstock.com/gallery-1642544p1.html

I would bet the same person is behind this and that more stolen images might show up under different portfolios. This is really ugly. Shutterstock should be really more active to avoid this embarrasing situations.

566
Hope he/she doesn't come back with another identity in a few weeks/months. It must be hard to policy this behaviour with the thousands of active contributors nowadays. Thank you for contacting Shutterstock.

567
Indeed he/she is having a Beautiful Sunday with all the revenue generated with those images :-(

Hello:

I just noticed that there is in Shutterstock a portfolio with bestseller images from Istock exclusives. Would be great if any of you that is also a contributor of Shutterstock ( I am exclusive to Istock) would contact them about this issue. I don't know if this portfolio is also in other agencies.

The portfolio I am talking about is:
