Adobe Stock / Re: free section
« on: August 11, 2016, 02:38 »
They wrote to you that you clicked - but if it is "no" nobody will click something especially and for multiple files.
What happen in my case, these last files were turned to free - "yes" and it is not editable. Their system did it. The only solution - to delete these files.
Especially i like this "Generally the system will remember", but only in interest of FT, if interest of contributor it will forget

Adobe Stock / free section
« on: August 11, 2016, 02:03 »
Something again at FT - file uploaded recently and accepted was moved to free section! I never checked "yes" for this! again to waste time to check files which are already online.
This file i deleted, hope they will delete it from their giveaway. Never ever something given for free generated any money. It attracts only people which want to have something for free. They never become buers, but bring their followers for the same.
Disgusting to receive a letter about this with "congratulations". Liars.
ps: all last files have "no" changed to "yes" for free section. It is not editable. Only to delete.

Shutterstock.com / Re: New (recent) image sales - Shutterstock

Same, here.. they always experiment and change the algorithm which hurts contributors only.
The same cake cutting - they think about their bigger portion, but not about to cook another one when finished.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Observations as a buyer
« on: August 04, 2016, 12:52 »
I think it had impact on buyers too.
The problem is that they started to think that every image is nothing else than the result of a button click and because of this should cost some cents. Many times i heard from clients that "we want a family on the beach, all beautiful/healthy" and photographed exclusively for their company, but when it comes to costs of models, tickets to Ostend etc , they tell that we cheat, because online images are cheap. Stock which sells many times is an argument to bargain a price for exclusive shooting.

I deleted all images from them. Sales stopped for several months when it was some cents to payout. Waited. Then added one image. Sale. Then deleted all. For now they have 30 cents only. I don't like games with hiding to keep money longer. There is no other explanation for me what happened.

Yes and it is a visible income for a company if several thousands of contributors never reach a payout and leave. New ones will come and the cycle repeats.

Not from this, but i had several e-mails from other startup platforms during last 3 months.
All of them were very new, some already had websites, some - not yet. All of them requested high res no watermarks photos for profiles/portfolios. One was not happy with smallest allowed size and insisted to delete watermark. Their search for european postcodes returned photographers based in India before the list of photographers related to searched postcode. None of these sites returned with something useful. Wasted time. When several more demands arrived, i stopped to read these e-mails.
Possible there are some good between them, but it is really full time work to check this amount of startups.
Many of them really follow latest mode to move software testing to user. Not happy to see my photos online deformed or super-yellow/super blurred etc. This didn't happen on established sites. Lol. Rarely.

Print on Demand Forum / Zazzle - tax form update
« on: August 04, 2016, 04:45 »
FYI - Zazzle sent request to resend W-8BEN because of changes. Old forms will become invalid in september 2016.
"There has been an update issued by the US IRS regarding W-8 BEN-E forms. A new version of the form was issued earlier this year which means we will need the updated form from you in order to continue to comply with US IRS regulations. We wanted to let you know as soon as possible to allow you time to do any research you need to and have the updated form processed for your account before your previous W-8 BEN-E becomes invalid in September 2016. Please send us the updated form as soon as possible to avoid any interruptions in your Zazzle payments"
So i have to send the form again, but ben-e

Often crowdsourced companies become a source of income for a group of people and logically others become not welcome. Such can happen on owners level, can be on employees level. This happen with many companies, photostock agencies are not exclusion. This can be a reason too along with other "natural" problems, like business mistakes, market changes etc.

I think IS policies are not different from all other greedy agencies trying intercepting any kind of job in any domain, setting themselves between job seekers and employers. They are interested in people which will be agree with all their actions and stay calm. Then like statistics in France: employers cannot find good employees, job seekers cannot find jobs. All because of these intermediates, which work in their own interests. Employer which doesn't want to use their services counts as their competitor. The same pattern.

Red flags multiplied

Deleting files it is a nightmare. One by one, without reason it cannot be deactivated. I have feeling that they will continue to sell deactivated files.
Do i miss something? Deletion is possible only from Portfolio view, not from details. From Details i cannot open file, error page says "something was scrambled". First several files it was possible to find by ID, then search by ID stopped. After several minutes pause it finally showed the file, then next search again was a waste of time.
p.s. found shortcuts, but anyway their functionality is done to slowdown contributors

Thank you.
One of "exciting opportunities" by agency

Hello all! What about thinkstock?
Just discovered that they started to sell for 0.02$ - probably because it is less than 1$ to payout now.
Will they take our images for themselves too?

90
it cant really be phishing if they ask you to login to your account and reset your password

It can if there's a link provided in the email to login to your account, and that link takes you to a website that doesn't belong to ShutterStock. As others have said, log in and change your password, no problem... but make sure you go directly to the site, rather than clicking on any links in the email.

Correct. Login directly, not from the link in e-mail, change password and set a reminder in your smartphone for date of next password change!
Do the same for all your other logins, commercial or not, always different passwords.

Camera with API for software, apps and all features of DSLR - some projects are already existing.
Another thing - AF following not objects of shooting, but an "eye pointer spot" taken from an eye. I know this should be individually adjusted but technically doable. I contacted some people, which told this is not possible and after this they disconnected me and one blocked. For now i didn't disclosed why i know that it is possible. But it is expensive. Can be produced in Belgium.

92
Ok thank you probably i read the thread very quickly

93
And? Will they pay the balance?

94
Some months ago i experimented with ss search API. I can tell that stops of selling for some keywords were in synch with days when search with API didn't retun any images for that keyword. I had empty resultsets for images existing in portfolio in such days. Many other things were revealed about search behavior, not positives.

95
I have a popup demanding to install a new version. The warning is - that keywords will not be edited. Did somebody try this with old version already?

96
Life cycle of any company is the same. Not a lot of them can resist against ageing, internal corruption etc. If one monster become rusty, then green lights for the new comer to try. And the cycle repeats. Stock imagery become a type of production which always will have its cut of market. Contributors will migrate from one agency to another one. Natural process, nothing to speak about loyalty. Agencies are loyal to their shareholders, even not to all of them, and never to contributors.
To tell shortly - why not, but not to be surprised that this process will be the same for contributor-founded agency.

97
For me this is a recent trend too. Not only in one agency.

This was confusing:  [quote author=skyfish link=topic=27996.msg459349#msg459349

I stopped upload there long time ago, and after their demand of unsanely detailed title for medieval vitrage i didn't try anymore editorials with them. I have old images there and i think who worked intensively to build portfolio there can be very concerned.
Anyway i was surprised to see today on Twitter that Getty is using images for their news channel. I think contributor should be compensated, because this is the same usage like usage by their clients, no difference at all - @GettyImagesNews looks like usual newspaper channel.
About keywording - yes it was too visible that my images were edited and exactly essential keywords removed, i have posts here about this. Once spent time to correct and after some images had keywords changed again i stopped uploads.
ShadySue, you answered i think not to me, but to Teddy the Cat

I saw in Twitter Getty Images News with photos. Are photographers paid if Getty uses their photos in its own channel?
